Do you ever just think about how ppl are technically just waterlogged skeletons?
I wrote an angsty fic about a survival world me and my friend share cause I was bored, but I'm really proud of it so I decided I'd post it.
------------------------------------------------------------
With the moon high in the sky and mobs roaming the moonlit land, Xios ran around axe in hand, slaughtering anything that they saw.
Why were they doing this? To get food and materials of course!
They kept killing over and over again until the sun started to rise and undead started to burn. As peace fell, Xios, covered in blood, walked down the path to their house to clean themselves up.
They shed their blood stained clothes they use for hunting and shower to remove all the blood on their skin and in their hair.
Xios dries off and puts on some clean clothes, a frilly white deep v neck shirt revealing some of their chest, knee high brown boots and baggy brown pants. They brush their purple hair and put it into a short ponytail.
After cleaning them self up, Xios continued to get prepared for the day, eating breakfast and cleaning their bloodied axe and shield.
----
Xios looked up as they heard a splash behind them. They were sorting out their storage again in their basement when they looked up.
Standing at the entrance to Xios' basement was Twig, a bipedal cow creature with a very strong attachment to his four legged kin.
"Hey X! Do you have any sweet berries? I ran out." Twig said looking up at his much taller friend.
"Hullo! Yeah, they should be in the food chest." Xios said, nodding in the chests general direction before returning to their sorting.
- -
A few seconds passed as Twig walked over to the chest and opened it, grabbing the needed sweet berries.
As he closed the chest he noticed the chest labeled meat next to it. While the chest and label were normal for his meat loving friend, the lock on it certainly wasn't.
"X, why do you have a lock on your meat chest?" Twig noticed as Xios tensed at the question, their tail stopping quickly, 'odd' Twig thought with a slight frown.
"Oh, uh... to, to stop mobs from getting to it!" Xios said keeping their face diverted, they spoke with confidence but their stumble seemed odd.
Twig decided to ignore it, Xios would surely tell him if it was important.
Twig bid Xios farewell and left the basement, going up the bubblevator.
- -
Xios breathed a sigh of relief as Twig left. They weren't hiding anything dangerous! Just something that might ruin their friendship entirely and make Xios' only friend hate them!
Which is definitely worse thinking about it.
Earlier in their friendship, Twig spoke of how much he loved cows, they were so much like him!
And so Xios swore to never hurt cows despite them being their favorite source of food. Xios didn't say this out loud but they still tried to avoid killing cows for so long, until they could no longer handle the strong craving.
But still they wanted to keep their friendship with Twig, so they kept their cow killing hidden. Only killing them at night when Twig was asleep, locking their meat chest, only eating it when they were 100% sure they were alone, and it was working so well.
But Xios didn't account for Twig to notice the locked chest, let alone question it.
Xios began to panic but quickly calmed themself reasoning that Twig had seemed convinced by their lie.
----
A week had passed and Xios had forgotten the incident and was back out at night to hunt once more.
With their shield readied and axe held tight, they began their rampage, killing anything and everything.
With the moon nearing the horizon, Xios noticed a herd of cows and ran at them. Their axe sliced through a cow's head, the creature dropping dead as blood spurted out.
Another two fell to the ground in a similar fashion. Xios raised their axe, ready to kill the final one, but as the axe slams down, Xios hears a shocked gasp from behind them.
Terror filled Xios' body as they swund around, the final cow managing to flee.
There stood Twig, a scared and horrified look on his face, tears welling up in his eyes as stared at the scene.
Xios stood rigid, tail curling tightly around their leg.
Silence fell as the two friends, were they friends now? Stared at each other,
"How could you?" Twig whispered in shock as a tear finally fell down his face.
"I, I... I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry." Xios stuttered before apologizing, they dropped their axe and shield as they curled in on themself, tears falling down their face.
- -
Twig stepped back, tears falling. They could barely hear his friend Xios mutter apologies, but it didn't matter.
All he could see was the tall dark blood covered demon, bloody axe in hand staring him down.
All Twig could feel was terror, scared that if the demon made such a bloodbath of his kin, he must be next.
So he turned and ran, he ran as fast as he could into his windmill, locking up and blocking every door as he went through. He huddled up under his bed and eventually passed out from exhaustion.
- -
Xios could barely figure out what to do or say, tears falling as they just muttered apologies to their friend Twig. The short cow creature looked terrified, his breathing speeding up before he turned and bolted back to his windmill.
Xios went to reach for him before stopping themself, tears still falling, they decided to try clean up this mess, so at least when they were kicked out of the area, Twig wouldn't have to deal with the dead cows.
They spent the next little while cleaning up the mess, their tears had dried up but Xios still felt horrible.
Xios stumbled back to their house holding their bloodied axe and shield. They didn't bother cleaning up, instead climbing up to their bedroom.
They threw the bloodied equipment in the corner before collapsing against some barrels. They curled up in their bloody clothes and cried, they had just lost the only person to care for them and it was entirely their fault.
Tears fell until exhaustion made Xios fall into sleep's grasp.
