Being Aroace is something that people do not know about. It's easy to get caught up in the bubble of online queer spaces and the select groups of people that have an understanding of asexuality and aromanticism. But more often than not people who use these labels have to explain themselves a thousand times over when coming out. It's one of the biggest things stopping me from coming out.
Issac saying that he 'didn't feel like giving everyone a vocab lesson' is a slightly humorous scene that shows how many aro/ace people feel. It's so hard to come out when coming out doesn't just mean saying that you are something but having to then give a full lesson on what that something means. And people don't always understand.
And it's hard to understand. It's hard. Love and sex are seen as such important parts of the human experience that most people cannot fathom the idea of not centering them in your life. And the existence of aroace people proves that you can exist without doing that.
I've just got lots of feelings about having characters in TV shows that are aroace that are allowed to feel big feelings about being aroace and just enjoy life while being aroace. It's refreshing. It's wonderful. It's sad that it's taken so long to get to this point.
