underpants pizza?

there was a word scramble thing that Boy had to do and his teacher didn’t include the instructions at all, assuming since he’d done worksheets like that he’d know how to do them, but he couldn’t remember and the solution was not in any way obvious to us. 

So his mother took a photo of it and posted it to her Facebook, asking if anyone knew what the actual instructions for the worksheet were supposed to be. 

The worksheet she took a photo of happened to include an image of a pizza and an image of a pair of underpants, and so half the respondents were able to correctly figure out how the word search rules were supposed to work (you’d use the initial letters of the four objects depicted, and unscramble them to reveal one of the words on the bank of solutions listed at the top, but none of them were labeled as such, so it wasn’t apparent), and the other half of the respondents all just said “Underpants Pizza obviously” because those were two of the images. So the theme of the day was Underpants Pizza, but the other theme of the day was just not explaining anything because who needs explanations.

I am completely fucking useless today, I’ve got menstrual cramps that while mostly not actually painful, are just utterly debilitating, I can’t move most of my muscles and particularly my legs are like noodles, it’s really upsetting because MathMom is overtired and needs help and I literally can’t stand up and it’s driving me crazy. Oh and then sometimes it hurts, and naproxen sodium is not doing shit.

of course both kids are in perfect health and are bouncing off the walls and I am helpless to attempt to keep up with them, so.

I'm six episodes in and told my friend (who loves it) that it was delightful, addictive trash. She was deeply offended because she's not on Tumblr and doesn't know that trash =/= bad.

Ah, hilariously @thebibliosphere​ literally just had the same conversation on her blog! Somebody got offended when she called it trash and she was like jfc i write romance novels, it’s basically a reclaimed slur at this point, but of course she said it more eloquently. I just think it’s funny that it was also a conversation about The Witcher.

in the second episode the bard (jaskier) is introduced and they have massive Gay Energy. also i think yennefer is introduced. ive watched four episodes and i recommend the first two for fic reading

Sigh that means I gotta find the second episode somewhere. I was really angling to get us to watch it at my friend’s house but nobody else was into it. Now I have to get creative!

How Did You Know that’s exactly who I was talking about. LOL I actually explained that to my friends, non-fannish though they are-- listen guys, on AO3, there’s this, well, there’s a ton of really good fic by a writer literally everyone loves, so we’re all like, primed to get into this series even if we don’t know what the hap is fuckening because we want to read that sweet tasty delicious fic, ok!!! 

I don’t know who the fuck Emrys is but do I have to know that or can I just find out? Maybe I’ll just Google for spoilers, I honestly don’t care whether I watch anything or not. (Maybe it’s because while Whatsname Supermanguy is very scenic he is also very much not my type; I didn’t realize I wasn’t into beef but I definitely, like, don’t mind looking but have zero actual concrete interest, even in my normal sort of tepid demisexual sort of way where there’s not really much physical zing either; I would’ve said I have no physical type or anti-type, but it turns out, yeah no, scenic mountains of manliness are sort of decidedly Scenery Only. A pity, he’s clearly worked very hard on that scenery. Huh kind of like formal Versailles-style gardens; nice to look at, you can appreciate the effort, i would never ever want anything like that anywhere near where I actually existed.)

you haven't met jaskier/buttercup/dandelion/The Bard yet, which seems to be where most of the show fandom is shipping. but literally all you need to know about him is He's A Fantasy Story Bard, and exactly as chaotic bi and annoying as every other Fantasy Story Bard.

See this is the first reply I got and I was like ok, that is what I thought. I just read another thing where someone explained that in other canons, Jaskier is this irritatingly sort of slimy womanizer, and they explicitly decided in this version to make him An Incredibly Chaotic Bi Golden Retriever Omnisexual But Harmless type instead because it’s a new decade and we get new tropes, and I am in love with that, so I think I get it now. I support this and will subscribe to the newsletter.

Right? Right?

I don’t wear them as much as I used to, growing up. Dude won’t wear LL Bean because their tall sizes are cut strangely for his proportions. I’ve grown weary of how Land’s End upcharges for plus sizes (why is a simple tank top $8.99 for regular and petite but $11.99 for plus or tall? oh it’s every garment? and like $20 extra for a raincoat 3″ wider? fuck y’all, but at least they do it to men too), and paradoxically claims “for Every Body” while offering rather a limited range actually. The problem with that last one is not that I can’t understand why a fashion company would draw limits on what they can cater to, but rather that their claim to total inclusivity is so confusing that I was tormented, as a teenager, by my mother’s inability to understand that I did not fit in their inclusive sizing, and this translated to both her and I sincerely believing that it was literally impossible that my body was that radically non-standard a size. Whereas if they’d just said “sizes up to DDD”, I don’t feel like I would have been quite so affected? I mean, at that point, there were literally zero companies selling any larger-than-DDD cup sizes anywhere either of us had ever encountered, so you could somewhat forgive us for genuinely not understanding that the sizing was to blame, not that my body was somehow contravening laws of physics. I genuinely used to think it was my fault and I was doing something wrong, somehow; I don’t know what I could possibly have been doing to make a swimsuit be the wrong size for me, but I was so ashamed and convinced I was somehow at fault, it really did a number on me. (In frustration my mother, an accomplished seamstress, attempted to make me a swimsuit, but the pattern companies also only had sizing up to D, and so she tried to just, add a little bit of fabric to it, and added like, a quarter inch, and I needed about four or five inches, and so it was a horrible failure that involved me flashing at least one or two of my siblings, and she didn’t say she blamed me, but it all sort of vanished and was never mentioned again, so, I just sank deeper into my conviction that I was some kind of laws-of-physics-contravening freak, instead of just... when I went to the UK a year or two later and they sized me at a department store and put me into an F and I was like there are more fucking letters and no one told me???? Yeah, Land’s End, fuck you, there are more fucking letters, and maybe it was okay to say “every body” in 1999 but it is 2019 and everyone knows the alphabet keeps going now.)

We ran out of heating oil - I guess the whole region ran out? They filled it before the storm, though :)

OMG. Our provider warned that they might run out of gas but rescinded the warning. I am still terrified.

We've got plenty of cold, but not nearly the usual snowfall. Hardly any so far. Which bums me out. I did have to break down and get a new coat this year as I put on so much weight over the last year that the old one was too snug when zipped. Got a fur-trimmed hood on it. Good for wind. Thing is, I am rarely cold here. Usually too warm - which is not fun when I'm outside and my face is fucking frozen but the rest of me is sliding past toasty into *hot*. oops. sorry.

Fur is super good for wind, I’m actually sad I don’t have any on my current parka and was sort of shopping for some-- can you get just... faux-fur and add it yourself?? I considered the concept that to really be ecological I should hunt coyotes myself and learn to preserve hides but, that’s a bit much even for me...

i just checked my phone weather app and it says "0 degrees, feels like -18" so that's how this morning is going. every heater in my apartment is going and i'm still chilly

My phone app does not mention windchill but I’m not going to ask it either. :(

I put up some insulated drapes in the kitchen at least, and I have flannel sheets on binder clips over the doors I don’t use. (Little finish nails gently poked into the top of the trim hold up the binder clips.)
