bought an Ultramarine shellac ink, but I was very disappointed, because it looks almost violet, compared to Ultramarine watercolors from White Nights and Schmincke. I think I will have to continue making my own Ultramarine inks, so now I tried to make my first shellac ink. I have some self made shellac solution left from painting flutes in late summer. Problem is the amount of alcohol needed to avoid lumping when the ink is diluted with water. At the moment I do it by triy and error. I hope it will be possible to store the shellsc inks for a long time. Otherwise, the milk inks work at least as well, and it is much easier, faster and cheaper to make them. ✨🙌My #sakuracon haul! I'm glad I was able to get my hands on the artbook for #splatoon I also bought an @omocat tamagotchi pattern shirt because it's a beautiful shirt. This sale is for our leftover stock from the con season -- quantities are limited (some more than others) and we will not be reprinting any of these until next year! We always cycle out some older prints for newer prints between years, so some of these may never be printed again.

Our Process
Just to be clear, we are two illustrators: QTmilk (”Milk”) and MIQ (”Ink”), and MilkInk is our collaborative team/studio name.
A lot of people have asked us about our process as a collaborative team -- “Does one of you do the lines and the other colors?” is often what people guess.
The truth is, it really varies from image to image! Though typically, one of us has the initial concept and sketches it out. Then the other takes that sketch and reworks it (changing the composition, shapes, etc.) and probably brings in color (if it wasn't already there). Then it goes back to the other for critique, and finalized by however seems most fit to do so at that point. But that’s just how it typically goes, other times its a completely unique flow!
What really helps us work together as a team is our dynamic -- Milk is very fast and can quickly get a lot on the page, but doesn't like to spend too much time in the same place. Ink on the other hand spends a lot of time on very small details, but can get stuck in the same place for too long because of it. But together, we solve each others weaknesses and really bring out the best of both sides! We also, in doing so, help the other so that they can also be stronger individually.
We have been working and learning together for a few years now. Even though our individual styles are rather different (Milk being more “cute and playful” and Ink being more “sexy and serious”, as people have said) there’s a lot of underlying senses that we share and when we work together it really is like a fusion that creates a new artist. And that’s MilkInk!
