I know when it comes to this episode, people talk about how traumatized and guilty Raph must've felt about being mind controlled, but I don't see a lot of people talk about Slash feeling guilty at the end of the episode.
The poor guy was just given a second chance on the previous episode he appeared in, and this is what happens to him. Captured (along with Rockwell), experimented on, attacking his friends while being mind controlled (saying those awful things to Leatherhead and hurting Splinter), and capturing Raph for him to be mind controlled too.
I think that this probably reminded Slash of the night he was mutated and almost killed the Turtles.

I have a hc you might enjoy (?),, idk what first impressions would be like, but i do not think fugitoid would like rockwell. I think he would call Donnie an idiot in front of him 1 (one) time and Zayton would punt him to new jersey.
As much as you are correct I LOVE this headcanon-

To be fair Zayton is a pacifist, so I don't think his immediate resort would be a punting (*sigh*). But I think after all the times that he's spent during the series trying to reassure Donnie that he's intelligent (which you think wouldn't be such a struggle...), watching Rockwell talking down to Donnie and Donnie grumpily taking the bashing at his intelligence would probably click some pieces into place. A stalling sort of "oh. So it's you. YOU'RE part of the problem...."
I've noticed throughout the series, Donnie's obviously annoyed by every cheap shot, but he doesn't outright say "actually I'm not an idiot" (unless there's a scene that I don't recall somewhere). And since that's something I quickly picked up from their interactions, I bet Fugitoid would begin to notice that too.
Donnie showed Zayton that he thinks he's stupid on some level. The professor would be able to make the connection that this is why he sits there and lets the outside source feed him that information.
I think his first impulse would be to talk to Donnie about it. And depending on how Donnie takes it ("you're right" vs "maybe Rockwell's right...") would be how he approaches the problem.
If he manages to get through to him, he'd probably be snippy and call Rockwell out for being incorrect next time that they interact and he throws an insult "ACTUALLY, I think Donatello has proven that reptiles can be QUITE intelligent!" so that he can continue to foster the belief of Rockwell being incorrect in his protégé.
If Donnie lets it slip the Rockwell's words are having some kind of real impact, I can imagine their next interaction (and Rockwell's concurring smug insult) would be followed with an angry explosion of sorts. I can imagine him startling everyone by jumping down the mutant's throat to give him a proper scolding that's simultaneously the most praise-filled uplifting speech about Donnie: "He is the SMARTEST young man that I have EVER had the honor of meeting, and I will NOT sit by as you speak to him in such a FOWL manner! From my view, Donatello has been nothing but courteous to you! What pleasure do you get from such DESPICABLE displays of immaturity? Do you have no shame?" and on and on.
I can see someone being like "don't you think you're overreacting a bit, professor?" and he is deeply offended by the implication. My favorite thing about the professor is how much he cares throughout the series. Donnie so needs him around to remind him what a real adult companion is supposed to act like 😭

Something I find really funny in TMNT 12 is the parallel between the turtles and the Mighty Mutanimals, particularly in their debut episode "Battle for New York"
Mikey is paralleled with Leatherhead and makes sense because Leatherhead is kind like Mikey is and also one of Mikey's closest friends
Donnie is paralleled with Dr. Rockwell. And again, they both pretty much have the same role in their respective teams. And their both sassy geniuses who have a sort of rivalry going on this episode
And Leo is paralleled with Slash, with Leo seeming to have a bad blood when it comes to the latter due to what he had done in the past. They're both leaders too and Leo accepts Slash at the end.
Anyways, what I find absolutely hilarious is the final remaining parallel. While the other three brothers are paralleled and dynamically paired with the Mutanimals who are like them or happen to be a close friend in Leatherhead and Mikey's case, Raph gets placed with Pigeon Pete
They don't have any similarities in their roles or personality, they aren't old friends, there's absolutely nothing indicating Raph should be paralleled with Pigeon Pete except that these two are the only ones remaining after the other three of both teams are placed together for reasons.
I just think it's funny
And also, it's a lot funnier to think that since Raph is a certified Disney Princess who talks to animals and has probably befriended half the pigeons of the city, maybe pre-mutation Pigeon Pete was among those countless pigeons Raph befriended.
Mondo is on fire, Slash is having an Existential Crisis, Pete is going crazy, Rockwell is minding his own Damn business, Mona is trying to kill him, and Leatherhead is baking cookies. . .
It’s just an average Tuesday.

I don’t know why Mona is trying to kill Rockwell with a pan I just thought it was funny. I actually debated putting her in but when I got that idea I had to.
