originally i was gonna make my own post about this but i feel the need to actually discuss it with someone sooo...
word on the street is dean and moth were originally a part of the same friend group before the current timeline, which when re-watching the pilot trailer actually fits better than i originally thought
i've seen some people even theorize that one of the reasons moth is cold in the current timeline is because he was into dean when they were first friends and dean never appeared to reciprocate (maybe they were friends in hs and when they got to college dean started to "explore" while moth was left behind with his heart bleeding)
and maybe ten knows dean and moth have lowkey been circling each other for a while AND it will leave pun free for him (two birds one stone) and so when they're at the bar that night it all begins, he's not actually introducing them, instead maybe he's encouraging dean to go after moth who's become a "challenge"
moth, when dean approaches him, knows dean will be a safe bet because dean won't take things seriously (based on past behavior) nor will he catch feelings (oooh naive moth) and moth is able to keep everything neat and tidy because he locked his feelings away longggg ago
but now they're spending time together in a way they never did when they were friends and things are rising in them that they have both been avoiding
(idk i feel like my brain is working faster than the words i'm typing to i hope everything is coherent, i feel like a hamster on a wheel)
I saw the same posts and rewatched the trailer like ten times or so 🫣 and I agree it does fit! People were concerned about them being introduced but they aren’t introduced at all. Also it’s a pilot and things change.
BUT MIELS I think all of us or most of us Westies that I’ve seen discussing it are on the same page and honestly it just makes me a moth protector even more than I already am (sorry dean.. although I know they are probably gonna both do things that piss me off.)
Yeah my mind has been spinning since I got this info. It’s just so much more juicer to me, gives it so much more depth.

moth being in love with dean first like FIRST FIRST like so long ago. And what if Dean liked Moth too in some way but Moth was so indifferent about it to put up the illusion that he didn’t have those feelings? Like what causes the fall out? fully screaming in my head rn
also the same people we got the source from said it was a comedy and I’m putting a full ✋ to that. I do hope it stays mostly serious and messy but I could see them doing a little comedy especially with the ending bit of the pilot.
