When Midha found the prince, he was still in his armor-- but his diadem was replaced with a chain of roses. He was drenched, and seemingly didn't care.
"The queen said you couldn't go out wearing plate."
"Tell my mother I'm with you in the library." Rain laughed, and lightning crackled overhead. "It's my storm! The thunder strikes where I will it!"
Despite his words, thunder clapped just behind his head-- earning a yelp from the young god. It would be some time before his powers were as precise as he'd claimed.

ok adjusting for new lore developments. all mk11 endings are canon EXCEPT midha's because she's timelost from fucking around w chromie and because it wasn't really her ending she just stole it AND!!! AND!! girl you're a wow character fucking with time the bronzes probably erased it.
In Mortal Kombat 1, the creation of the New Era collapsed the possible futures into one present: and wiped the memories of every kombatant to defeat Kronika, except Midha.
Midha had been betrayed by Rain, and in her dying moments, possessed Rain to control the Hourglass.
Midha shaped a world in which Edenia was free, in which Argus had wed Amara and legitimized Rain. She began her new life as a page-girl in the royal palace... and ended it as Rain's queen.
Because of her splintered attachment to time, Midha retains her memories of her time as Rain's consort: remembers who he was first, remembers who she made him to be, and remembers everything that was taken from her.
Midha's intros with the New Era's Rain are as follows:

Actually the boring explanation is that someone cared about Rain so much she sacrificed the life she was living to restart his life on the right foot.
The based explanation is that Shang Tsung is fucking with his dreams and one day Rain's gonna wake up and beat his old ass for playing with his emotions
In another timeline, an Edenian page-girl overhears Queen Amara's argument with her son.
"I won't! Never!"
Midha had been wandering the royal gardens when a door slammed-- and the evening sky split with lightning.
She looked up. A familiar face stared back down at her. He glowed red from within: he was incandescent.
He skipped the stairs and swung his legs over the railing. Judging the distance, he leapt down... and landed on all fours before kicking himself into a sprint.
"Midha! Midha, come to me!" He staggered. She had to catch him-- the ground was still slick from the storms that seemed to come daily now. He clung to her, first to right himself, then he looked into her eyes and suddenly he buried his face in her shoulder and shivered.
There was one heaving, squeaking inhale. Then another. He gasped. Midha found her hand on the sweet spot of his back, and kept it there as he sobbed and seethed.
She didn't feel any tears. There were no tears left. Instead lightning struck, again and again, until it lit a tree on fire. He flinched.
He held her shoulders and stared at her again. His eyes were bloodshot... and suddenly he hiccuped as he whispered: "Tell them-- tell me, tell me you won't leave."
"What happened?" she tried, but the only answer she got was a hateful glare.
"As if they wed for politics. Tell me," he repeated, and now he rested his head beside hers and urged more gently. "Say it now."
"Of course. I'll stay forever, if you'll have me."
The prince Rain took Midha's head in his hands and clung mouth-to-mouth with her. He had never kissed anyone: and she knew, and she could tell, but he was trying hard. His lips buzzed with the effort.
So she traced the veins of his broad hands with one of hers, and held him behind the ear, and suddenly felt raindrops between her braids.
He let her guide him. His breath went deep and fast. The last of the lightning struck, chased by waves of rain and wind pulsing sideways into them.
Rain's fingers grazed her back.
It was a suggestion, and one she took. The hand on his hand went back to the sweet spot, holding tight and warm. In response, maybe by pure instinct, he shifted his weight and nearly lifted her up in his arms.
"Midha," he half-hummed, and mourned, finally detaching himself. "What use is a crown with so little power? If I can't choose you? I am the son of a god: am I not a god?"
She rolled back off her tiptoes and answered him: "You're the god of Midha."
Startled into silence, he took a moment to snort and chuckle-- and squeeze her harder. "So it seems, doesn't it?" But he shook his head, as he let out a heavy breath and pressed the water from his hair. "No. I think... maybe you're the goddess of Rain."
"[Midha picks up Kronika's Crown, a distant shadow looming behind her.]
Another enemy lay dead at my feet. Another trophy lay waiting before me.
[Midha's eyes widen, reflecting the Hourglass and the light within.]
When I looked up and saw the Hourglass, I was afraid. I didn't know what to do with that power... and because I hesitated, someone else took my place.
[The shadow reappears in front of Midha, and drives a katar into her chest.]
Rain wouldn't see reason. He could undo every injustice he'd ever faced, could live in a whole and independent Edenia, but all he wanted was vengeance.
[Midha pleads with Rain, the two close enough for blood to spill from her lip to his chin, before Rain rips the katar free and turns away. Midha crumples to her knees.]
What he saw in the Hourglass threatened to drive him mad. I knew this because I felt it too, and I couldn't let him come to nothing.
[Rain prepares to shape the sands of time while Midha looks up at him. Her eyes reflect his silhouette, and then her pupils glow as she possesses him. Rain's guttural scream fades, and a white light engulfs the chamber... then, the faint sounds of children playing.]
I am Midha of Edenia, consort to Prince Rain. In another life, I suffer, and struggle, and am willing to die for my family.
[Now clad in violet and gold, Midha stands beside a crowned Rain on the balcony of their palace. Despite a genuine smile, her pupils still glow with incarnated doubt.]
