Taroug, the German-Tunisian electronic producer, is releasing his new album Chott next Rdiay March 27th via Denovali Records.
Release week single "Mides" captures the sensory experience of heat and landscape of his homeland, with a rhythmic production style punctuated by traditional instruments and sounds.
The album is named after the Chott El Djerid, a vast salt lake in southern Tunisia, and blends traditional instruments with contemporary electronic textures, drawing lines between past and present with heat and landscape marking his production style. It’s shaped by contrasting atmospheres, from those that are minimalistic and melancholy and others that are more raw and intense.
He incorporates personal materials throughout, such as vocal samples from family members, which add layers of intimacy and cultural depth.
