In class a few weeks ago we all got the opportunity to build a contact microphone. This is a type of microphone that doesn't pick up noise directly by the vibrations of sound. The one we made was very basic compared to those that you can get. I decided to do a few experiments with the microphone just to see what kind of sounds I could get from it.
This sound is from placing it on top of a macbook pro computer whilst it was running. The louder bangs are outliers from this test from where I was adjusting the microphone (bare in mind that these types of microphones are very sensitive.) The results are interesting, you can really hear a gentle hum from the computer inside working. At roughly half way through the recording I started to use some of the keys and the pitch is much higher than heard through the human ear.

A few notes.
I apparently lisp something awful. This isn't an audio issue, it's just I cannot speak like a normal human being. YAY.
The occasional clicks are silly filler noises made while thinking, as this is all off the cuff. They aren't an audio glitch.
I HAVE A HORRIBLE VOICE. SORRY.
