Summary: Meyer Wolfshiem gets tired of Gatsby neglecting his duty and failing to throw parties so he pays him a visit. Jay Gatsby never thought that his business with Wolfshiem would put Nick Carraway in any danger.

Jay Gatsby watched the green light at the end of Daisy Buchanan's dock. The water was calm with a very gentle breeze flowing over it. For a moment he took his eyes off the light and just watched the sound. It was calming.
"Are you close to Mr. Carraway?" Gatsby jumped at the voice. He turned around to see Meyer Wolfshiem standing in his doorway.
"What?"
"Don't play dumb with me boy. Answer the question."
"Why are you talking of him?" The man started to walk forward before Wolfshiem put a hand up to stop him.
"Mr. Gatsby, are you aware of the position you have put me in? No product is moving around and no money is circulating." He hissed. "I know you have your 'great love' but do not think about forgetting our arrangement."
"I have no reason for the parties Mr. Wolfshiem. Don't worry-"
"Did you think you have an option?"
"It's my home. I will help with other matters."
"My man in Chicago?" Anger festered in his voice but he stayed calm.
"That was an accident-"
"The 'missed' calls?"
A sinking feeling settled into Gatsby's chest. He was still wandering where Mr. Carraway came into the story of why Meyer knew they were close. Nice was a close friend to Jay. The thought of something hurting his was unbearable. "Meyer-"
Wolfshiem gave the man a list of problems they had been having. "After everything I have done for you, you treat me like this?"
"I need to be with her. After so long, I have her. I just need a little time and I'll make this right."
The breeze blew as Wolfshiem shook his head. He turned his head towards the cabin Nick was as a resident of. "Do you understand the stakes?"
"I assure you, I do." Gatsby looked at the cabin as well. It was a charming little place that most people would describe as ugly. He loved it. Jay would take Nick anywhere he would let him. They often went down to the water or sat in one of their homes and talked with each other.
"Well then, I should inform you of something. You see, Mr. Carraway has some rather unholy secrets I could share."
Looking at Wolfshiem, Gatsby gave his business partner a puzzled look. Nick was the most honest person he knew.
"One night near the beginning of the summer he shared a night with a man named Chester Mckee. They slept together."
"Why do you know this? Who told you?" Gatsby spoke quickly and defensively. "Mr. Carraway's intimate life is none of our concern."
"I believe it is your concern. You two are so close, you should know he's a fa-"
"Don't, call him that." Gatsby knew he should have just let it go. Taking a deep breath he tried to calm down. "Who told you this?"
"A reputable man who was there that night."
"I need a name." His voice was low and serious. Searching for answers he watched Wolfshiem for any shift.
"No, you don't. Here's the deal, Mr. Gatsby. We are friends, no? Because you two are so close I will keep his little secret if you don't cause any more harm to my organization."
The man didn't need to think about it. Nick was one of his best friends. He had already figured that he was a homosexual. There were times Gatsby wondered about his own sexuality. "Fine. I'll make this right. Just-" he sighed, "keep Nick out of this."
"Just how close are you to him? You aren't involved are you?"
"No we're, not. Nick Carraway is one of the best men I know. He's very important to me."
"Well then, start planning your next party because if not I will destroy him."
"Okay." With that Wolfshiem left and Gatsby tried not to think about how he got into his home in the first place. Looking back at the cabin he tried to remain calm. He would throw the parties and say that he did it to keep Daisy entertained. Jay had just turned back to the water when he heard a different voice speaking to him.
"Mr. Gatsby are you okay?" Nick Carraway asked from below the balcony. He had been told he could use the gardens any time he wanted to do when he had gone to take a walk he realized his neighbor looked distressed
Softly smiling, Gatsby sighed. "Oh yes I'm fine, old sport."
