Yet again, Formula E gave us a race filled with overtakes, close racing, and some drama to top it off!

It has been a tough past few years for Audi, as they have not been able to repeat the success they had in previous seasons. But that all changed today, as both cars were really fast, and brought home a 1-2 for the team. They may have got lucky to grab the win, however, given where they started, it was clear they deserved this result! With this momentum behind them, going into tomorrow, and the next few rounds, they can really shoot up the order in both championships before the season finishes.

Mortara was not really talked about much all race, he just quietly gained places, as teams around him fell back, and brought home another podium for the team. There may be a bit of regret, given how near they were to the win, although it would have been almost impossible to hold off the two charging Audi’s.

Today was a massive, missed opportunity for BMW, who were holding down a net 1-2 for most of the race. It just seems that tyre wear hurt them badly, as their energy didn’t look bad at all. This is another example of where they haven’t converted the promise, they have shown this year, into points. I will commend them on how they managed the two drivers together on track, as many times we saw them pass one another cleanly, and that helped their race a lot.

Sims finishing 4th also seemingly came from nowhere, as he avoided the carnage going on around him, to secure some more points for Mahindra who have struggled this year on the whole! Da Costa, who did the best he could in Group 1 in qualifying, gained further places in the race, ending up 6th, which pushes him even closer to the front of the championship. If the track is less green tomorrow, can he perform even better in qualifying?

Vandoorne may have had one of the drives of the race, climbing from 21st to 7th, admittedly aided by other people’s issues. That being said, you could see the car had pace, they were just compromised in qualifying. De Vries also fought back well, and considering he was spun by Frijns in the race, it could have been even better for him!

Evans’ race was severely affected by the 2nd Safety Car caused by his teammate, which dropped him back to the lower end of the top 10. The Jaguar though has not looked very fast here anyway, so tomorrow may not be much better. At least he is still in the title fight, whereas Bird was unlucky to be caught out by the exit of Attack Mode, as he was sent into the wall by Lynn. That may be something that the FIA should look into before the race tomorrow!

The NIO’s barely missed out on points, as they still try and catch up on the other teams for pace. The Dragon Penske cars couldn’t really do much after being sent to the back for changing parts, can they take advantage of the qualifying groups tomorrow?

Wow! I cannot believe what happened to Porsche and Wehrlein today! He drove brilliantly all day, getting pole, and controlling the race, plus the team had the perfect strategy, to build a gap, and take Attack Mode as soon as they could. But even though he crossed the line first, he was DSQ’d for the team not declaring the tyres he started the race with! It is a real shame, and didn’t gain them anything out on track, at the end of the day though, rules are rules, and someone should be checking these simple things!

For Nissan, another strong result was lost, although it slipped through their fingers right from the start, as Rowland got a horrible start, possibly caused by the fact that he had no radio for the whole race. Then he couldn’t activate Attack Mode, and decided to retire the car. The pace is clearly there, can they use it tomorrow?

Talking of tomorrow, what on earth can we expect from another race on this tight track, with little room for error? Hopefully, Porsche and Nissan can come back fighting, with Techeetah, BMW and Audi still in the mix, to give us one hell of a race!
