When you have been waitressing long enough, you start to know the regulars. You learn more than their orders, slowly but almost guaranteed you learn about their lives piece by piece. Rapunzel was used to the truckers who’d stop in for a hot cup of coffee and a slice of apple pie, the early afternoon drunks who had spent their morning wasting away in whatever boring office job they worked and now had to sober up before heading home to their wives, but there was one girl that was always a bit mysterious.

        ——   IT’D   BEEN    A   LONG   NIGHT  .    and    by     the    look     of     it    ,      it     wasn’t    over    yet   .    whether    it      was    the     lack    of    sleep     or     the    multiple     exorcisms    he’d     just     performed     on    a    single    person     (    energy    levels    at    the    low   )   ,      john     did    not    feel     like    having     a   civilized     conversation    .      purposeful     steps     approached     the    parked    yellow    car    with     decisive     confidence    .     ready    to     let    the    unfamiliar    face    become    less    familiar     still   .     “Sorry, kid -  cab is not on service.”     at    least     not   on   paying    service   .

                    “The attic has a better shit, you know?” the boy walked suddenly from where he stood by the door. “The gay couple who lived here? They killed each other, murder-suicide, they were into really kinky shit.”                                             ( @mercyinvite )
