I'm working on a group project with like thirty participants. One of the men decided to (needlessly) use GenAI to generate summaries and images for the project. Yes he's disclosing it, but he's making all of us complicit in the use of an immoral machine for a project that is going to have all of our names attached to it. I am genuinely exhausted by the thought of it.
I hate AI and people won't shut up about it. On the bus the other day, I got accosted by a man who works in the AI industry and he was genuinely unable to understand why I did not consider translation as a job to be on its way out. He was convinced that AI does a good job. It does not. And truthfully, even if it did, I would not care for it. If no human was involved in the production of a text, why read it? It's not worth anything. Nothing produced by a copy-paste thieving algorithm is going to have cultural value.
