So at some UNGODLY hour of the morning I was awake, why? I donāt know. Either way I was awake and in true tumblr fashion, I was thinking about the randomest shit, however for once it wasnāt weird like them shower thoughts you get when you spend too long in the shower. You know what I mean?
Like maybe, āGo to bed, youāll feel better in the morningā is just the human version of āDid you try turning it off and on again?ā Yeah... it wasnāt like that.
This time I was thinking about the phrase, ānever meet your heroesā. I call bull. I would like to point out that I have had a good experience in the past which Iām sure helps the opinion that I am about to relay, but stick with me for a bit while I present my case.
From personal experience, (thanks to my lovely boyfriend) when we had the opportunity to see One Ok Rock here in Brisbane, he gifted his VIP pass to me, which meant being able to take pictures with the band and exchange a few words. Luckily in my case the boys were very much engaged, positive and down to earth. I only had a proper, quick conversation with Taka but it was a lovely experience. Now besides the obvious, you should meet them if you have the chance because they could be amazing and your life would be ācompleteā etc. Iām going to explain why I think you should.
Whether the experience is fantastic and all you ever dreamed of, or sadly not what you expected, I still believe itās very important to meet your heroes. Why? Amy get to the point! IāM GETTING THERE.
As you can tell from what we call them, heroes, we obviously hold them on a very high pedestal. Now thatās not always terrible however, we tend to forget through all of their talent that they are just people, like you and me. By meeting them you really see this and its almost a settling feeling. Iām not saying that theyāre not as talented or cool once you meet them, what Iām trying to say is, itās a good place to be where you can see them in a realistic setting, working hard at their career. Not only will it be something that Iām sure they appreciate but I really do think it tones down the crazy pedestal that you have built in your mind and allows you to enjoy them and what they do. Seeing them as hard working individuals rather than gods that can do no wrong.
You see them in a better light, its more comforting to you and almost gives you a sense of... motivation? Itās hard to describe. But I really think we should be seeing the people we look up to more as hard working, talented, motivated and successful individuals that we can strive to be like rather than untouchable gods that can do no wrong as it creates distance between you and them. I think its healthier and more enjoyable seeing them in this kind of light.
Was I going anywhere specific with this? I donāt know man, like I said, I was thinking about this at like stupid oāclock in the morning. I guess I just wanted to get it down and put it out there in world.
So yeah, if you get the chance, meet your āheroesā, do it.
Who would I like to meet next I ask myself...
I wonder if you guys know Eat Your Kimchi? The youtube channel ran by Simon and Martina, they are hilarious and talented. I look up to them because of their strong relationship, outlook on life, and their hard work that really translates through their work. Iād love to meet them one day.
But yeah, thatās all I got for now,
Stay happy and healthy guys~
