Beginning at the Beginning
My neurologist and psychiatrist jointly recommended that taking Nuvigil would be a worthwhile experiment. In a later post I'll discuss why they made that recommendation.
It should be noted that NuvigilĀ (armodafinil) is not simply a generic form of ProvigilĀ (modafinil) - they are not the same drug (I'll detail the differences at another time).
My goal for this blog is a simple one: record my experiences with Nuvigil in an open and honest way. I have no preconceived notions/expectations. That said, I did a considerable amount of research before agreeing to take this drug.
I am not a medical professional. I will not be dispensing any type of advice here. I will not be promoting anything other than the belief that you are wholly responsible for your own well-being.
Provigil/Nuvigil are being abused in attempts to increase intellectual performance. These drugs have only been FDA approved since 2007 and even then I don't have a great deal of faith in the FDA's approval process. There is a dearth of longitudinal studies which detail theĀ long-termĀ effects of these stimulant-like drugs. Both armodafinil andĀ modafinil can have life-threatening side-effects, e.g. StevensāJohnson syndromeĀ (WARNING: link contains graphic images).
I'll leave you with an interesting post byĀ Roger White in which he details his initial experiences with Provigil.
