This immediately screamed "ORTEGAS" to me so let's make it an Ortegas triptych with her friendship-maybe-more-ship with Chapel throughout the years with the title as the catch phrase.
We start with meeting Christine in a veterans group after the Klingon War. They go out for drinks afterward and Christine talks her into going with her to an ex-girlfriend's house to pick up some stuff she left from before the war - the live phaser fire incident referenced by Ortegas in Spock Amok, we'll tweak it to make it fit. Christine says the catch phrase to Erica. 😉
Then Ortegas talking with Uhura after Christine leaves the Enterprise for her fellowship with Roger Korby (a subtle little unrequited moping on Erica's part that Uhura is very sensitive and caring about). Erica says the catch phrase dejectedly to Uhura.
We wrap everything up with Erica running into Christine at Starfleet Headquarters in the era of the one with the whales. They go out for drinks, again, and this time it's Ortegas who asks for a favor. Her niece is pursuing the medical track at the Academy and is struggling. Would Christine please talk to her, medical professional to medical professional? Of course, she'll try, anything for an old friend, but what was that thing they used to say to each other because that's basically what Christine'll say? Everything is good for you if it doesn't kill you, Erica says, but like it has meaning behind it this time, and Christine sees the meaning, finally, after all these years. The end.
