Sausage Roll
It is a very, very, VERY good sign that a recipe is well liked when immediately after it’s all eaten, someone tells you you need to make it again soon.
Behold! The Sausage Roll!
Now I’m not gonna lie, I’m not a fan of cream cheese and seeing the meaty filling look like this is off-putting. However, it tastes delicious. And Dearest Husband, if allowed, would eat the whole thing by himself.
Another masterpiece recipe by @fictionfood that is destined to be part of my party repertoire. We usually bring buffalo chicken dip when we go to parties that ask us to bring food, but due to budgetary concerns, I just shifted the dinner plan for that week and made this instead since I had the ingredients.
I did not have any parsley on hand, so I used celery flakes instead. I haven’t noticed anything negative, but I’d like to try adding fresh parsley for some future endeavor.
I’ve made this twice now. The first time I had too much filling with some left over. Some of the liquid cream cheese leaked out and got the kitchen a little smokey. The second time, I bought a two pack of crescent rolls and split the filling between both. It wasn’t meaty packed, but nothing went to waste (ie to the dog).
The only issue I’m continuously having is the bottom gets soaked. We agree that is doesn’t affect the taste any, but it tends to fall apart when I cut and serve it. The second time I made them, I used foil instead of parchment paper and put one on wire rack after it started to harden. The bottom was still soggy. I plan on tweaking the amount of cream cheese next time. Probably cut it to a third of a bar (so like 2.66 oz?) instead of half.
Oh and Husband asked me to cut down the onion, so I put in 1/3 cup. I found both takes to be tasty so that’s just his personal taste.
Meat roll filled with egg
Today I am going to teach you how to prepare a meat roll filled with egg with a secret ingredient that adds a different touch: Cinnamon
I have filled this meat roll with boiled eggs, ham and mozzarella, but it can be filled with anything, at other times I have made this recipe but using stuffed ham and spinach or Piquillo peppers and cured cheese and the result would be just as good.
One of the things I like most about this recipe is that you can leave the meat roll prepared in the morning and store it in the fridge.
So, when it's time for lunch or dinner, you just have to light the oven, put the meat roll inside and relax a little while cooking.
With the ingredients I recommend, you can prepare a meat roll for four to six people, depending on how large slices are cut.
To prepare this meat roll filled with egg you will need:
500 gr. (17,63 oz.) of minced meat
Salt
Pepper
Cinnamon powder
5 slices of York ham
5 slices of mozzarella
4 large eggs
To prepare this meat roll filled with egg you must follow the next steps:
-Boil 3 eggs for 12 minutes.
-Peel the eggs.
- Mix the minced meat with the egg that is left over, a pinch of salt and pepper and a little cinnamon powder.
-Extend the meat mixture on baking paper and give it a rectangular shape.
-Place the ham on top first, then the mozzarella and finally the eggs.
- Roll up the meat making a cylinder with the help of the baking paper and close the sides so that the filling does not come out when baking it.
-Paint slightly with oil and bake 30-40 minutes at 180 ºC (356 ºF).
