So, some strange news came out of Oregon and Im interested to see how that will play out. Apparently, they've decriminalized singular possession of all drugs and brought the punishment down to a 100$ fine or attendance of drug counseling. As a former addict, I'm not quite sure how this will work.
It could be exactly what addicts need, instead of going to shady fucking dealers, to get it prescribed by doctors and have them help people through the crisis instead of locking them up for a personal problem. On the other hand, it could just exasperate the problem if they don't get a handle on how to distribute it.
Also, children need to be taken into account. I'm sure there are parents who can operate high and actually function well, but I know way too many who are much weaker than their addictions, who's children suffer for it, and these people are already getting it prescribed by doctors who are just as shady as the dealers.
Unless they're able to realize that this is the beginning of alot of work and not a big buisiness to be profited from, it will descend into ultimate degeneracy and will hurt many more children than if it was never legalized. Fuck the adults, they've made their choices, but there needs to be more severe fines plus mandatory counseling for anyone who has a child and wants to keep them.
