Meanstreak - The Congregation
Monday, October 7: Meanstreak, "Roadkill"
Like many bands coming out in the late ‘80s, Meanstreak was positioned as a thrash act, but “Roadkill” was more like a traditional ‘80s metal charger with some thrashy bits, mostly in the snarly vocals and gang shouting but also in some of the shredding. Along those same lines, Bettina France’s vocals recalled early Joey Belladonna, which reinforced that the tune was more like thrash overlayed on power metal. But “Roadkill” was a fun and brisk banger that rocked out effectively and with exactly the right amount of Z-grade enthusiasm.
