not to be hater, i adoree mayravi and i really think they have potential but it's just makes me irrationally irritated that all it took was a couple of episodes (3 maybe?) for them to become canon and they had no prior history whatsoever. yet here we are, 9 seaons later and we've got absolutely nothing with buddie.
it just makes me mad and sad. it really is that easy. they just don't wanna go there:)
oh, yeah, i love mayravi a whole lot too, and tbh i never actually expected them to actually give it to us, so that is just an absolute delight that they did. but yeah, it is kind of a bummer that it really was so much easier to make mayravi happen.
at the same time though, it DID happen so quick and so easily that.... idk i'm not DISsatisfied with how it played out, but i actually would have enjoyed it if they did have to work a little more for it! or if we got more development between the two of them instead of just bing bang boom they're together. like that episode where ravi thought may and ian were a thing and got jealous but then harry was like dude you didn't even call her though — THAT was delicious, i loooooved that. i would've loved if they'd stretched that out a little longer too, or built off of that. anything to give them a little more meat to it, y'know?
and honestlyyyyyyy, like. the thing is mayravi and buddie are SO different, both like as relationships and as two individual characters coming together and narratively within the confines of the overarching show. like there is SO much history between buck and eddie, and i kind of wouldn't change that for the WORLD because so much of that shapes them and who they are to each other. and mayravi just doesn't have that. for a number of reasons! which obviously makes sense bc may and ravi havent know each other as long/they've both only semi-recently come into their own as mains (yes ik ravi technically isnt a main, but he is in my heart okay), etc etc. but yeah they just don't really have the same sauce to me. so like if i had to choose, buddie would win every single time. like i would pick buddie, even if we were strung along for the rest of forever in relationship limbo, over canon mayravi. not because i don't like mayravi, bc that's not true, i love them!! but because to me, buddie is just infinitely more compelling of a relationship! at least how the show is presenting them both rn and over the years and stuff.
it kind of boils down to: buddie is moving too slow but mayravi moved too fast. i think they could've taken more time getting mayravi together and playing in that sandbox of pining!! and buddie, well, they need to pull the trigger already.
and also, like, call me crazy, say i'm delusional, tell me i'm getting baited, whatever, idc, but i'm very much firmly in the camp of "it's not nothing" regarding buddie. 🤷♀️ like. i kind of vehemently disagree that s9 gave us nothing wrt them! like we literally had a whole entire buddie bottle episode where buck and eddie were believed to be gay in love and almost got hatecrimed about it and the two of them literally fought tooth and nail to get back to each other!!! thats super not nothing to me!! and even though there weren't necessarily a lot of explicit attempts to push the buddie of it all, i do also think buck and eddie's separate stories — particularly eddie's — this season did a lot of good work to prime them individually for it (even if the ignoring the elephant in the room did also simultaneously stagnate their individual stories in some ways too. both are equally as true to me!)
i think the problem is that what we are getting is good in a vacuum, but overall, their trajectory is moving at a GLACIAL pace and that may have worked in the earlier seasons, but it's crawling just a touch too slow now. like, the thing is this season alone i can name like at LEAST three (but almost certainly more if i really sat down and thought about it) moments that they could have used as a feelings realization catalyst. like the setups were ABSOLUTELY there — they're just not pulling the trigger. which IS frustrating! and that's what the problem is. it's not necessarily that i don't think they ever will — because that's not true, i do think they will — it's just they keep wanting to get it perfect or just not wanting to stir things up or getting scared about committing bc that IS such a significant change (even though 1. it's also kind of not bc they already ACT so much like a married couple that like the dynamic isn't going to change that much lol and 2. clearly big changes have worked well for the show though! bc as much as i hate bobby dying and as much as i hate how it was done, i DO kind of think that the ensuing shakup did breathe a little bit of new life into the show). but yeah.
and the thing is i'm not even asking for much. like, i just want ONE single feelings realization. bc that would at least like confirm, but also that WOULD be a step forward, AND like tim could still play in that dragging it out space he loves so much bc listen i am a SUCKER for mutual pining so let's let these bitches yearn!!! let's let these bitches KNOW that they are yearning!!!!!! like as long as we know it IS leading somewhere, like FOR SURE, i could honestly be so happy a whole season of pining lol. that's my bread and butter baby!!! but yeah, for that to even happen though they NEED to stop avoiding the elephant in the room. And Rocky visiting mutated/fussed Ryland/Simon tree, so I suppose they all eventually become friends before out two humans demise?? In that case, would it be possible to have more context about *wave at it all* your entire idea?? I would love to read/hear about it!
Also, as bloodymary seems to be like, some sort of end goal, does that mean Ryland and Simon knew each other before being thrown in the Iron Lung? (Oooh, if Ryland was part of Eden, maybe they were together during the Filament disaster? From what I understood of the event, Simon tried to stop it from happening, right? What if Ryland wanted to stop it as well, they worked together for a time, but boom, got separated, and Simon assume that his friend (something more??) just died and like, had this huge regret added to the rest?? Oooh, make it worse, and Ryland works up from the incident as a prisoner, but also amnesiac (which could be a call back to the phm film/book!)
Simon being quite distraught at first when he realises that Ryland does not remember him :( but I guess forced proximity and cosmic/eldrichian horror eventually get the rest of his memories back on before they ultimately die )

Ryland! i have a couple different ideas, there WILL be a third party besides the COI and Eden. I know for a fact however, that Ryland will not be from Eden. I'm still debating how he goes from one to the other, but for plot/backstory reasons, grace is indeed involved with the COI.
THE ERIDIANS!!!! I'm SO excited about this ohdkldhjdhcjhdg, which is weird because its the part i thought out the least. Ideas that i have so far is that they actually live in cave systems underneath the blood ocean floor- i need to do more research about this! So while humans are going down, they are coming up and meeting in the middle. They do have a ship/drill btw! and rocky was supposed to wear a suit in that mini thing i made but i had forgotten T^T. their ship had gotten damaged and rocky was going out to fix out- and thats when simon and grace found him. this part im iffy on, so i dont know if itll stay the same.

i liked this episode better than the first one! all the tension and infighting and problems between percy and annabeth, tyson and percy, tantalus and percy, clarisse and everyone, etc. it was all great. i don't remember too many changes from the book so obviously down for that, and now i'm excited for this next part because i don't remember too much of how it goes down!
