In the idw comics it has been confirmed there are multiple planets outside of cybertron that host bio-mechanical life, and yes transformers are bio mechanical in the fact they are living metal same with the cardbots.

In this universe planet mechina is just another planet that hosts bio mechanics with slightly different properties.

Mechas are immune to dark energon poisoning/infection

They don’t require any special resources to live like cybertonians

They can become compact and be transported outside of their automobile mode.

The metal breath isn’t a “chosen one” thing and is more so a a symbol of leadership and trust since it can only be used by humans or human adjacent beings and tethers that human to one primary bot and multiple secondary bots. There is already more then one in the show so there will be more then one in this au as well, infant a new human character I’ve added in has his own metal breath that was spawned in from his bond with fleta-z.

jun is bonded with blue cop (previously known as azure star before hitting earth)

Crest is bonded with wild guardy

Raiden is bonded with fleta-z

Riley is bonded with mega ambler

At the moment this is all I have, sadly. I don’t have access to the rest of the seasons outside of season one so forgive me if I missed a few things (mostly who should be bonded with who).

I also have two card bots Ocs outside of my two human Ocs.

i've thought about them having soul mate marks of each other names in the other's language so blue cop's mark would be jun grant written in korean and jun's mark would be blue cop written in machina's language. I could imagine jun searching the internet to find out the language his soulmate mark is in but coming up with nothing and having many questions about his soulmate and his mark because of it.

alternatively I think it would be interesting if human and cardbots have different ways of finding their soulmate for example cardbots can't see the colour of their soulmates eyes until they meet their soulmate so then when blue cop meets jun he knows that they're soulmates but then because of how humans find their soulmate jun doesn't find out till much later. Imagine the angst blue cop could go through since he doesn't know he's jun's soulmate there's so much potential like maybe blue cop convinces himself the bond is one sided and hides the fact that jun is his soulmate because he doesn't want to burden anyone else with his misfortune of having a one sided bond and he doesn't want to risk jun finding out about it.

also blue cop probably wouldn't have much hope in finding his soulmate due to the people of machina being scattered across space but then on this alien planet he finds them and their the one chosen to wield the metal breath they were always intended to meet each other

another type of soulmate au i love is soulmates that share each others pain i feel like that would give some scenes more angst like imagine jun experiencing the same pain as blue cop when he gets in infected in w i feel like this type of soulmate au would imapct their bond so much
