“Preetinder Singh Bharara (born October 13, 1968) is an American lawyer who served as the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York from 2009 to 2017.

As a U.S. Attorney, Bharara earned a reputation of a "crusader" prosecutor.

According to The New York Times, during his tenure he was one of "the nation's most aggressive and outspoken prosecutors of public corruption and Wall Street crime."

Under Bharara, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York prosecuted nearly 100 Wall Street executives for insider trading and other offenses. (…)

It has been reported that in spring 2017, Trump's personal attorney Marc Kasowitz told associates that he had been personally responsible for getting Bharara fired, saying he had warned Trump, "This guy is going to get you."

Bharara said that he was dismissed 22 hours after refusing to take a phone call from Trump.”

Some analysts feel that Comey's decisions might have cost Clinton the presidency. In one of those decisions, he reopened the investigation into Clinton's emails less than two weeks before the election. 

Comey also received heavy criticism from Republicans, in part after it was revealed that he had begun drafting an exoneration letter for Clinton before the investigation was complete.

President Donald Trump dismissed Comey on May 9, 2017. Statements from Trump and the White House suggested that he had been dismissed to ease the "pressure" Trump was under due to the Russia investigation.”
