This is the first of a couple compilations of older threads with @mazenderanāĀ from the original sideblog. I have gathered it together here into one post because I find that it is essential both to understanding the relationship between Nadir and Mirela and to understanding the entirety of Miraās character.Ā
buscarparamivida:
It is not often, since fairly well settling in Paris, that she diverts from her usual hauntsāāthe home she shares with her two brothers, the cobbler shop that she helps them to operate, the routes she must travel for the maintenance of their house.
Yet today she has done just so and, for once in the longest time, she simply allows her truant feet to direct her as they will.
Before she even realizes it she finds herself walking along the Seine, very near the Jardin des Tuileriesā¦
It seems as though it is within the Jardin that most must be, for the pathway is mostly empty aside from a few that seem to have decided upon wandering, as she has.
One in particular catches her eyes, an odd fellow that does not quite seem to fit with the fussy and fashionable Parisians out for their walks.
Curiosity perhaps, at the moment, beginning to trump her warinessāāthough ever she is aware of the unsettling but necessary weight of the blade hidden beneath the scarf tied āround her waistāāshe casually directs her step closer, wanting to observe more about the strange man. Her gaze she keeps carefully fixed upon the river until at last she halts, not far from where he stands, discreetly scrutinizing him from the corner of her eye while seeming still to watch the river.
Yet this careful observance does not quite satisfy her curiosity as it answers very few of the questions that she now ponders of who this stranger might be and from where he might have originatedā¦
She debates with herself only a few moments more before at last she looks to him, as though having only just seen him, and addresses him in her slightly faltering French, affected by and intermingled with her native tongue.
āEs a day very beautiful, non, monsieur?ā
mazenderan:
Nadir felt watched. He couldnāt quite pinpoint why, but he did. It wasnāt an unfamiliar or even particularly frightening sensation anymore. Nadir was a people watcher by nature and he seldom had malicious intents with his gaze; those who watched him were often just curious. There goes that foreigner again, people would whisper. I do wonder what heās up to!
All Nadir was up to today was sketching. Heād brought along one of his little, black notebooks and he sketched in it intricate designs, geometric patterns that soothed his weary soul. It had not been an easy month. Erikās antics at the Opera were, naturally, a cause for concern. The anniversary of his sonās death had come and gone without closure once more. Darius still came home from the market irate and murmuring in Persian about how unfair everything was. Nadir still caused the ballet rats to titter with gossip about the Persianās evil eye and he was weary of young women crossing themselves every time he passed by.
It was a life. A half-life in many ways, but Nadir found moments of solace. In reading, in his faith, in the notes he compulsively took about the people around him. And in beautiful, public gardens such as this where he could almost pretend he was home.
Almost. The flowers smelled different.
But what did he care if the flowers were different or if people watched him and stared? He was as at peace as he could be, given the circumstances. And his sketching, repetitive and mindless, only reinforced that false sense of tranquility.
And then he heard a voice, as heavily accented as his own, but extremely different. He twisted on the bench to look, tearing his eyes away from his drawing, to see a young woman. She was beautiful. Young. Nadir wondered if she was a tourist - she carried herself somewhat differently than the Parisians he knew, with their haughty airs - or else an immigrant, like he was. Habit made Nadir rise to his feet, as if she were some grand lady of the court. For all he knew, she could be.
āIt is,ā he said. Perhaps his French was not as heavily accented as hers; years upon years of practice, even in jail cell where the guards thought him quite mad to speak in ātonguesā. Heād never lost his French once he learned it all those years ago in a garden, such as this, taught painstakingly by the only man who made him laugh after his wife had died⦠āBut every day in this city is beautiful. Every day is, wherever you are, I suppose, if you have the right perspective. But surely you did not approach an old man for philosophizing.ā

THE EXCESSIVELY DETAILED HEADCANON TUMBLR MEME
{ @ghostlyhunterā }
11. Intellectual pursuits
While in all except modern-verseāāwhere she attends school to become a doctorāāMira has no actual education to speak of in the traditional sense, she is extremely curious by nature. She will ask 1,000,000,000,000 questions and then some if given the opportunity.
In this way, despite being of such a low station, historically, and despite being 100% illiterate, she has learned many things about the world and about life and so many miscellaneous topics that most never would have bothered, simply by asking questions and listening to the answers. She just takes it all in like a sponge, only she never reaches saturation point because she still wants to know more.
Most of her knowledge is far less āintellectualā (again, in the traditional sense) than practical.
She learned candle-making, sewing, and the medicinal and culinary use of various herbs and other plants from her aunt, Zamora. (Though, the first two she is far better in the knowledge of the processes than the actual execution. She has a tendency to burn herself when making candles and she is far better at stitching skin than fabric.) She learned to play the violin from her uncle, Vincente. She learned the processes of leather-work and carpentry from her brother, Armando and Timoteo. In my || La Fortuna de las Mareas || ( Pirates of the Caribbean ) verse, she learns much about the seas and about ships from Hector Barbossa [ @theaccurscdā ] after he allows her aboard his ship as refuge from the persecution of her people. In || we wear the mask || ( The Phantom of the Opera ) verse, she learns about language and cultures and many other things from Nadir, AKA āThe Persianā [ @mazenderanā ].
So, even if she canātāāand she certainly cannotāāexecute all of these skills and put all of this knowledge into practice directly, sheās learned so much from so many people, and sheās always wanting to learn more. Thatās, in part, why she did so well in modern-verse when she could get an actual education, when she could go to school and then to university and learn to her heartās content. I have no doubt that besides working to earn her medical degree, she probably took classes in languages and philosophy and astronomy and history and art and whatever else she could fit into her schedule around her required classes. And, though I donāt know if itās been shown in any actual threads yet or not, even modern-verse Victor Frankenstein [ @actofgeniusā ] has observed that sheās very intelligent.
And sometimes itās not as evident, such as when she stumbles over words in English or in French, because her native languages are Spanish and that of the Roma. But even with that, consider how incredible anyone is who can learn another language and do it well enough to express themselves and their thoughts. And then you take into account that in most historical verses, Mira would know her native languages, of course, and then English and French and probably some German as well, and likely fragments of various other languages in order to have been able to travel the way she did and get along on her own. I mean, the amount of discipline and perseverance it would require to do this Iād say would qualify as an intellectual pursuit as well, and serves to show how intelligent she is, even if notāāin most versesāāin the standard way.
I know that this kinda derailed and I nearly wrote a dissertation, but I think I still answered the question? If not, just let me know and Iāll try again. Haha
ā« + Victor. BUT ALSO ā« + Nadir. Feel free to do it about them individually or their relationships with Mira!
Send me a ā« + a characterās name and I will respond with a song that reminds me of them. Send a ā« + a ship and I will do the same.

@hopsjollyhigh I know you were a fan of that verse @mazenderan and @masterofmirrors I share sooooo....
For as excited as she was to attend Julliard in the fall, Christine Khan was really tired of graduating.
Nadir and Erik had left her in the dining room at least an hour or two ago with graduation announcements to her left and AP textbooks to her right. Ayesha sometimes sat in her lap and sometimes on top of her laptop. It was easily almost midnight now and while the city was bustling around them, the Khan family penthouse was eerily quiet. There was no bickering from the living room, no Opera musing blaring through the halls, no laughter echoing the halls. It was actually kind of peaceful.
Of course, it would be just like Erik to change that. Piano music wafted into the dining room, and Christine recognized the piece immediately as the composition for her dadsā wedding. Ayesha perked up and Christine sat up; it was a rare occasion, albeit always special. Curious--and impatient with the superficial amount of detail needed for graduation announcements, apparently--and looking for a distraction, Christine tip toed towards the piano room.
The sight she found through the crack in the door was a rare one. Erik was playing, but now, Nadir was patiently sitting at his side. The unique gold of Erikās eyes was situated at the keys; Nadirās dark green eyes were only for Erik. They were nestled close; if Nadir was any closer, Christine was sure Erik would quip at him for interfering with his playing abilities.
Eventually, the song ended and her dads were left next to each other. Christine leaned a little farther into the doorway, unsure if she should say anything. To see Erik and Nadir have a moment to themselves that wasnāt interrupted by sarcasm was special for her, too.
Gently, slowly, Nadir pulled off his husbandās mask. Instead of seizing away, too proud or too unprepared to show his face, Erik turned closer to Nadir. They kissed sweetly and unabashedly, and as Christine pulled away, she was sure she could hear Erik whisper I love you in French.
Christine returned to her textbooks and her stamps and her cards. It didnāt take too long for her to pass out in a mess of papers. She woke up to Erik carrying her to bed, half whispering, half taunting Nadir that he was gentler with their daughter and she would trust him more taking her to bed.
Home, sweet home.

Frog: Ā Does your muse make any strange noises? Or do they do anything relatively strange with their mouth unknowingly?
I donāt really know if it counts as strange, but he can often be caught humming or mouthing lyrics as he composes! I know this asked for details, but Iām not really sure how to make this more detailed. Heās a dramatic guy and tends to exclaim, so thereās lotās ofĀ āOh!āās andĀ āAh!āās. This isnāt strange or detailed, but I hope it satisfies.Ā
Erik and Jane for the brotp! (Bonus round: Jane and Nadir)
leave a brotp/platonic ship in my ask and iāll tell you: Erik
who steals french fries off the otherās plate: Erik, almost definitely. He is a grazer and also likes taking things.
who jokingly moves in for the kiss when someone asks if theyāre a couple: No one does this, so neither.Ā
who has to bust or bail the other out of jail: Most likely Erik will be bailing Jane out, if not because he has the money then because he was the one who didnāt get caught.Ā
who gives the other advice/comfort about dating issues: Jand has given him advice once, but I feel like Erik does it sometimes too.Ā
who shamelessly cheats at games by reaching over to cover the otherās eyes: Erik, though he probably cheats better than that.
who immediately calls dibs on the top bunk: Jane.
who starts and who wins the pillow fights:Ā If anyone does itās Jane, and she loses because Erik takes everything too seriously.
who says āyour pants would look better on their floorā to the otherās potential crush: Neither? MaybeĀ Jane as a joke.Ā
Nadir
who steals french fries off the otherās plate: Jane, probably. She always likes the look of Naidrās food better.
who jokingly moves in for the kiss when someone asks if theyāre a couple: Probably Jane, but no one says it so it doesnāt happen.Ā
who has to bust or bail the other out of jail:Ā Nadir.Ā
who gives the other advice/comfort about dating issues:Ā Nadir gives Jane advice more often, though she doesnāt take it.Ā
who shamelessly cheats at games by reaching over to cover the otherās eyes:Ā Jane might try for funsies. but Nadir is too quick and so they end up playing fair.Ā
who immediately calls dibs on the top bunk: Jane.Ā
who starts and who wins the pillow fights:Ā It can go either way with both of them. Jane is very competative, and I imagine sometimes Nadir lets he win so that they can stop.Ā
who says āyour pants would look better on their floorā to the otherās potential crush: Neither Or Jane as a joke. She tries to keep her crushes to herself these days.Ā

Ć what does your muse smell like? what perfume/cologne are they using?
Christine prefers floral scented perfumes and wears a little every day. Nothing too fancy. Probably a very simple lilac one in 19th Century and like a basic body spray she got from Target in modern.
