#maymay

This was the river right by us yesterday (pics taken from our barangay page), and here's a weather map showing our island right now (Baguio is near the middle of the screenshot in one of the pink areas). You can see that MayMay is moving Westwards, but isn't quite gone yet. Still, even though it's still raining hard, I think the worst is over, and we're on a hill above the flooding.

It's been raining since 3 August and storming since 5 August when MayMay hit Luzon with a vengeance--school and lots of other things have been canceled the past few days.

About 2/3 of Baguio lost power last night for around sixteen hours or so, and I don't know the casualty numbers yet, but I know of at least one landslide in nearby La Trinidad that buried an eatery and killed two people, and I'm certain there are more than that. The malls here opened to provide free wifi and charging stations through the worst of the storm, but we weathered it out at home.

The three of us--Baby El, @thesurestthing , and myself--are safe, as is @geniussheepworld (although she's stuck in a nearby town for now because landslides have closed some roads and the jeeps weren't running). Fortunately, we are on a hill above the flooding--just have to keep the terrace drain clear so water doesn't get so high it comes in the front door.
