tonight, she works the night shift — her feet are killing her & she cannot wait to go home. a couple of patrons are still spread about, enjoying a night cup of coffee & midnight breakfast. ramona can’t blame them for taking advantage of their all-day breakfast deal. still, she is experiencing burnout & working at the diner sometimes takes a lot out of her, especially with school in the way.
with her hair tied in a ponytail, donning a cute baby pink waitress uniform, she makes her way toward the next patron who patiently awaits their order. “hello, welcome to… wait, i know you.” it’s hard to hide the familiar face of the man she had a strange encounter a while back. “shit — sorry, i didn’t realize you were waiting. my bad. what would you like? a coffee? Maybe a rootbeer float?” she eyes him carefully, & the thought that enters her mind she cannot help but spew out before she is able to filter it. “you look like shit, man, you alright tonight?” good one, ramona.
