It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of Miss Louise “Susie” Tracy - Spencer Tracy’s daughter and good friend of Katharine Hepburn. Kate adored Susie, saying how she was a more quiet version of her beloved Spence and simply wishing she got to know his kids when he was still alive - Susie went on location to a few of Katharine’s 1970s films, taking photos of her for magazines and publicity in which Susie said Kate “got a kick out of seeing me loaded down with my cameras.” In this post, I included photos of Susie with Kate during The Spencer Tracy Legacy filming/presenting, Susie with her father Spencer, a candid KH by Susie and also photos of signed items by Kate including a book Susie did photography for (Pritt, the True Story of a Deaf Cat and Her Family) and a playbill of a musical KH was attending in support of friend Max Showalter. This found her & Phyllis writing back and forth with a friend of Susie (“The Touch of The Child” 1991) Showalter worked with The Theatre of the Deaf in Connecticut - a cause Susie Tracy obviously supported! Katharine was clearly fascinated with the sign language part of the show, as she writes “Who are the people on the stage” and also “you speak very well” + “can you hear any of the singing” to this person) You will be missed ❤️ • #katharinehepburn #susietracy #louisetracy #spencertracy #maxshowalter #johntracyclinic #rip #theatreofthedeaf #photography #photographer #thetouchofthechild #loveamongtheruins https://www.instagram.com/p/Ce9KsKluVis/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
