Rabbit Week Day 6: Character study.
My offering to the Rabbit fandom.
Summary: Bobby stares at the big block of text on his computer screen, completely sure he did not write it, yet there it sits, on his Facebook profile. Once he actually starts reading the thing though, the dots connect quite quickly in his head, since there's only one person who would spend a ridiculous amount of time writing such a long letter for nothing more than a stupid prank.

At first I assumed Rabbit was out to Natalie, but I've been going back and forth whether or not he is in my head.
"So you don't like anyone?" "I try not to think about it."
That is not an entirely confident response. I think he knows he's asexual, but he isn't sure the specifics, he thinks might be at least some degree of aromantic too.
Realizing you're aspec while dating someone is very mortifying, all the more reason to avoid your partner when you're also trying to figure out other things (ie addiction recovery).
Kyle Prue said Maxine is the first person Rabbit's opened up to in a while. Does this mean she's also the only one who he's come out to as asexual, the only one who knows?
I know we were all praising this scene for not being a big deal, but I don't think it would be out of character considering "I'm the kind of person who has to be okay", for him to be deliberately playing it cool. I'm sure a lot of people who've had to come out can relate to having to project confidence, because you're always going to get someone who questions if you're sure because they don't want you to be lgbtq.
As you can see, I'm very excited to see Rabbit's asexuality expanded upon in future episodes.
It's not just Rabbit saying he's asexual that makes episode three so asexual.

God I love the women in Rabbit so much.
Valerie is an amazing character to introduction to the clients, the delivery of "now rip my fucking ears off" is so good. Liz, the way you feel like she's getting at you when she digs at Rabbit. Maxine, being more perceptive than Bobby thinks. They're all so interesting and well rounded and you wanna see more of all of them.
That's why I'm so confident that Natalie is going to be properly introduced soon, and that she's gonna be reoccurring and fantastic. Maybe my expectations are high for Natalie, but only because I know they can be exceeded. Valerie, Liz, Maxine, and everything else in Rabbit feels like just a glimpse at the potential of this series.
Wondering about when Maxine actually realized Bobby was lying to her. Cause that would be a little horrifying, right? And then she just plays along for the rest her life? They're both so insane
I have more ideas for Maxine & Bobby programs
Dancing Queen by ABBA - it's a very safe choice if you're skating with the lady you're in love with while pretending to be a gay man. Maxine would be feeling it.
First Things First by Neon Trees - I like the idea neither Maxine or Bobby are from Los Angeles. It's probably not canon, but this is for figure skating AUs. Also, the titular line "first things first, you get what you deserve" is about getting good things, but the show Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency used it while hurting a blorbo, so I like that versatility. Maxine and Bobby probably don't think they deserve much if all they have is each other.
California by Chappell Roan - going back to the idea of them moving together for figure skating, but with a very different tone. I feel like I had more to say about it but I forget.
Gravity by Sara Bareilles - they're both holding each other back. Maybe if they make a program about it they can pretend it's not real (: maybe they can ignore the lyrics while they're skating (: I don't know if they're brave enough for this program but I'm not asking for self awareness.
