MaxakalĂ-English Dictionary
Chances are youâve never heard of MaxakalĂ. Itâs a small language native to the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais that, allegedly, belongs to the Macro-GĂŞ family. Itâs an interesting language, both in terms of phonology and grammar (hopefully Iâll write an Idiomatick post on it in future).
Anyway, Iâve chosen the word ĂŁn âyearâ because it looks like it could be a loan word from either Spanish or, more likely, Portuguese (aĂąo and ano respectively). However, I donât actually know this for a fact and I donât know if anyone does; itâs a small language.
Hereâs an example sentence taken from the source-dictionary above:
Kakxop ĂŁn xohix te tikoxyuk.
The child is three years old.
Thanks go to A. Harold and Frances B. Popovich for that!
