Sighthound Sunday: Let’s Take an Art Walk
The Main Library is filled with art in many corners, floors, and walls of the building. Some pieces are by more recognized artists and some by students. Some were collected by the library and some we given as gifts. The prints above make a fine entryway into our Letterpress Studio on the 2nd floor. This piece by Amos Kennedy was installed in 2015 when he worked with students in our studio. The painting on the adjacent wall is Falling Man done by Max Schumann, which first hung in the main stairwell and has long been discussed by many Oberlin students.
Both of these pieces watch over the students working in the long study carrels on the west side of the 2nd and 3rd floor respectively. The photograph, The Last Reader, is by Gregory Vershbow. The last piece, an acrylic and steel on canvas is Untitled (Multiple Convergence) by Haakon Faste (OC ‘98). There are many more pieces throughout the library so come take an art walk through Mudd.
