Short version: off-the-rails Calypso Twins backstory in straight prose that eventually decays into a full AU.  Might I recommend starting with “Spells” to see if you like it? As always, gore and angst intended for adults.

Firstly, a small apology to those who may be waiting for an update to The Timekeeper’s Gambit, but life has gotten in the way recently with regards to that. On top of having a new, and very demanding, full-time job at an animal hospital, I recently had a tragedy in the family. And considering this upcoming chapter is darker than many of my other ones, it’s been difficult to be in a proper headspace to write the chapter out. I assure you, I am working on it, but it’s gonna be quite some time before I get around to finishing it. This is why I’ve been working on chapters for the companion piece Gambit Drabble Diaries so that I have something going out. I will hopefully be updating that one again soonish with an Ava centric chapter about how she came to Athenas and shook things up for Wyn and Troy.

In which the Saint of Finances returns to Pandora for a mandatory holiday despite knowing full well that something will go awry. And it does.

 18. What is a line/scene you’re really proud of? Give us the DVD commentary for that scene.

Ho-Kay, I actually put this off for awhile because I needed the scene I wanted to answer this for to actually be publish and it has been for a couple months now so lets talk about  Familiar Path, Different Place Chapter 10 Because the trailer over the cliff is what I’m proud of. 

So first of all, the trailer over the cliff scene was a big factor in the choice to make Edge of Chaos a mixed Canon series. I was upset that in FIlm canon Sarah gets one of her moments of badassery taken from her. SO that wasn’t going to happen in Fp-Dp. 

I spent a lot of time working out the logistics of how Sarah who is the shortest of the bunch at 5′3″ would deal with getting Ian whos 6′4″ out of this. Nick ended up coming in for assist but Sarah dealing with having to powerlift her big ass boyfriend was moved to the end of the fic beach rescue. 

Ian injuring his leg here, again lifted from book canon because I wanted to have Sarah perform field surgery for the angst potential (and suffered every minute writing it but it was delicious). 

I also knew I was going to avoid having Eddie die because I have plans for him in later fics, so again I borrowed from the book where-in its Thorn who comes to rescue Ian, Sarah, and Nick without encountering the Tyrannosaurs. They get Ian in the back of Mercedes because despite the upper trailer being considered safe in the book I didn’t think this group of very intelligent people would chance it. 

Then of course that leads to the surgery scene where Sarah gets herself some trauma she’ll certainly have to work through in the future.

So funnily enough, both of these characters don’t drink. Ian because he was on his way to being an Alcoholic in his mid twenties after he’d finished his doctorate. 

Troy because his myriad of medications that keep him from being bed-ridden everyday. 

 However on virtue of  Ian having drank before while Troy has never ever touched alcohol.
