growing up and moving out
I wrote a baby ficlet for my Charlie girl to thank her for doing my header. @mattcullen it’s been 1720483 years since i’ve written anything, so I hope this is okay!
“So,” Nursey says, watching from his perch on the bed as Dex tinkers with something or another that probably doesn’t even need fixed. Dex only makes a questioning grunt, causing Nursey to roll his eyes.
“So, you caveman, you have an internship in New York. I am moving back to New York, to a place that has a spare room. What say you.”
Dex stops fiddling and looks up at Nursey, brows furrowed. “What do you mean?
Nursey falls back in exasperation, only narrowly missing hitting his head. “Oh my God, do you want to move in with me?”
“You would still want to live with me?” Dex says, sounding surprised and touched. Nursey tries not to feel offended.
“Yeah, sure, I mean, now that your head isn’t so far up your ass, it’s not too much of a hardship.”
“You’re such an asshole.”
“Is that a yes?” Nursey grins.
“Sure, Nurse. I’ll move in with you. I’ll need some help navigating New York anyway,” Dex says, and Nursey can hear the smile in his voice.
Their level of closeness has evolved, especially after Dex started to emotionally mature. Once he stopped spending so much time being angry, he let it show on his face how much he actually liked Nursey. Despite popular belief, Nursey isn’t as oblivious as people think; when you spend your life looking the way he does, you can tell when people are interested in you.
The real surprise was when he realized he was interested in Dex too. It was a soft kind of realization; he and Dex were sitting on the porch for some peace and quiet outside of the stuffy Haus, and Nursey showed Dex some meme that made him laugh so hard, he turned red all the way to his chest. Nursey watched it creep down, and chased it with his eyes, and realized he wanted to chase it with his lips, and that was a pretty clear indication that he was into him.
The more Dex shows of himself, the more Nursey can’t help but be into him. He knows if he asked Dex out, he would get a very blushy yes, but he can’t bring himself to do it.
So naturally, he asks them to move in together.
He lifts his head up enough to see the way Dex is still smiling at his hands, and grins brightly.
“I see how it is Poindexter, just using me for my New York knowledge. I thought what we had was special,” Nursey chirps, and covers his face with a pillow to block whatever Dex throws at him.
