...You think youâre pretty clever, donât you...? :P (And Falco was his name, oh!)
F - Whatâs the longest youâve ever been in a fandom
I guess I havenât actually been active in fandoms until recent years, since I never spent time online when I was younger. If weâre counting that against me, then Iâve only been active in fandoms for...almost 5 years, I think.
Iâve enjoyed a lot of things since I was a kid. Been a Mario fan for probably my whole life, and a fan of PokĂŠmon since it was introduced, for examples. Itâd take a while to go through each fandom, and Iâm only thinking video games, so it would be a very long time. Weâll just leave it at this, lol.
~~~~~
The next one is going to force me to use that Read More tab, whoo!
A - Your current OTP(s)/OT3(s)/OTX(s)
Siiiiiiiigh...shipping trash hole, here we go.
On second thought, even if I have a whole huge list of these, Iâm going force myself to hold off on that.
In fact, letâs juuuust...stick with whatâs currently on my brain. And thatâs still a list, so...in no particular order:Â
L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isnât one of your faves (chars youâre neutral on are fair game, as are chars you dislike)
He...makes a good villain. (Pigma, who I more or less dislike...a lot)
Ooh...uh...theyâre funny? (Certain Mario characters that Iâm neutral on >_>)
Heâs...uh...not a murderer...? (My Golduck, who I...am not proud of)
His lunacy is entertaining. (Cowslip)
~~~~~
C - A ship you have never liked and probably never will (be nice)
Oof...ok, you already know the first one on my mind, so Iâm not mentioning that one here. Iâm not falling for that.
Hmm...strangely, I canât really think of a Star Fox ship thatâs a fair answer, tbh. We both know the obvious ones for that too, so not worth tossing out. No, wait, ok, I just did. And Iâll mention that to you later, but I think you can guess it.
Uuuhhhhh...whatâs worth mentioning...?
Bowser/Luigi, strictly because I consider it a rival ship to mine. And thatâs a complete lie too, because I think itâs cute sometimes, but I just canât get into it because it undermines Bowser/Mario too hard, so like, I can concede to it, but I donât do so willingly.Â
Hhhhgggguuuhhh...there are also numerous FE ships that I could go on about, because some things get me angry about that, but this isnât the place for them.
~~~~~
O - Choose a song at random, which ship or character does it remind you of
âSimple and Cleanâ reminds me of Sneakpast (Greninja/Chesnaught), which wonât make sense until I get to the 3rd fanfic for them.
 ...I donât really have songs that make me think of couples. Either I donât really listen to music on the radio (because Iâm trash) or I just donât think of couples.
Iâm doing the Six Fanart challenge thatâs been going around on Twitter. Hereâs Geeker from Project G.e.e.K.e.R., requested by @matsutzu. I drew him shape-shifted into a banana. :P
Haha, what, you expected just the one thing being late? Itâs totally on time.
This is a double gift! Or, rather, a gift for two people: my friends @mrnerdling and @matsutzu, who talked with me a bunch about various things a lot last year and probably definitely longer. And absolutely does not double as missed birthday and holiday gifts, no sir.
They both like Fox and Wolf, they both like Smash, so I thought, âHey, why not mash those two things together?â Because thatâs a dumb brilliant idea, thatâs why. So, yes.
It serves as another thank you gift for my friends, and shameless took the Smash Ultimate universe to bend to my lunacy creative thought process.
And it holds many, many gays within it. Because one pairing just wouldnât cut it for me, like, ever.
Anyway! A fanfic below for you and anyone else looking to read. Please enjoy!Â
Along a wide, sunset bathed cliffside location, two hands drifted across the sky, hovering over a gathering of numerous creatures of different backgrounds.
 An orderly hand pointed out with its finger, slowly flowing around the cast herd below, as it neared one.
 âFox!â An omnipotent voice thundered from the skies.
 âAnother fight, then.â Fox smirked and readied his blaster. A red coin flashed below his feet. âSo be it. Letâs go!â
 âNo.â
 âWait, what?â
 Drifting away, the hand floated off, and the red circle beneath Fox had vanished.
 ââŚWhat was the point of that?â The pilot folded his arms and watched as the hand flew off. ââŚPikachu, come on. Wasnât that weird?â
 âPika pi.â
 âOh, donât give me that.â Foxâs ears lowered as the yellow mouse beside him chuckled.
 âSorry, itâs too fun.â He scratched his ear and twitched his tail. âYouâd think that it would make more sense for someone like me to talk, considering that you and your friends can.â
 âFriend.â Fox rolled his eyes. âFalco is my friend, Wolf is not.â
 ââŚI meant those other animal people.â Pikachu lifted his paw and counted. âIf I have their names correct, that includes Peppy, Slippy, uhâŚKrystal, andââ
 âOk, ok, you got me there.â Fox shrugged. âStill, I donât get why those hands can be so indecisive. I mean, the guyâs called âMaster Hand,â shouldnât he be more of a master of his own fate kind of being?â
 âCome to think of it, should we even be addressing him and the crazy one as males?â Pikachu tilted his head, watching the other hand circle through the sky, waving its fingers about wildly. âJust because they have masculine voices, that doesnât really confirm if weâre meant to address them as such.â
 âThey want to be addressed that way, last I heard.â Fox rubbed behind his head. âI know theyâre just floating hands with supreme powers in this realm, but they are alive in their own sense, soâŚâ Fox sighed. âThis is a complete separate conversation from what I wanted to talk about.â
 âRidley!â
 âAh, is this the part where we all yell out, âRidley confirmed!ââ Pikachu smirked as a crowd some distance from him and Fox did just that. âAhâŚthat never gets old.â
 âSamus kind of hates that.â Fox glanced over as the armored warrior seethed. âA lot.â
 âYeahâŚand I have some memory of fighting him too, now that you mention it.â Pikachu shrugged. âBut hey, heâs oddly good with Pichu.â
 âSo is that big cat guy from your universe!â Fox blinked. ââŚIs he a guy cat?â
 âThe one with us today happens to be, yes.â Pikachu chuckled. âGot your head spinning a bit, huh?â
 âUgh, honestly.â
 âKing K. Rool!â
 âAnd thereâs Donkey Kongâs most hated,â pointed out Fox, as a blue light burst from under a large crocodile with a crown.
 âSureâŚhis, uh, âmost hated,â letâs go with that.â
 âTheyâre enemies, from what I was told.â Fox raised an eyebrow. âDid I miss something?â
 âUhâŚsomeone else should explain it to you.â
 âDuck Hunt! Duck Hunt! Duck Hunt!â
 âWhat the hell is he doing now?â
 âProbably trying to make that sound ridiculous if he can mash it quickly enough.â Pikachu snickered. âIf youâre fast enough, it sounds likeââ
 âSomething really immature.â
 âUmâŚwellâŚâ Pikachu puffed out his cheek. âBuzzkill, dude.â
 âIâm just saying.â
 âYeah, youâre right, I guess.â
 âShulk!â
 âPit!â
 âIce Climbers!â
 âTeam Battle!â
 âTime!â
 âStamina!â
 âTime!â
 âHuh.â Pikachu scratched his nose. âGuess theyâre swapping rules along with us.â
 âThis is the first time I havenât heard them yell âStockâ in ages.â Fox clutched his head. âItâs almost always the case.â
 âPretty much.â
 âReady to Fight!â
 Disks of earth erupted from the ground, carrying off the six selected fighters. A massive portal opened up, carrying them off to a spacious field with a train rushing through the area.
 âOohâŚthatâs going to suck for them.â Pikachu winced. âSpirit Train gets a little crowded, you know?â
 âItâs not exactly my first choice either,â admitted Fox. âThoughâŚitâs nice to feel the rush of the wind on a moving vehicle.â
 âYou would enjoy that.â Pikachu shook his head and ambled away. âAh well. Letâs get going.â
 âGoing?â
 âYeah.â Pikachu turned back and blinked. âWhat, youâre not going to just sit here and wait for them to drag us off in who knows how long that fightâs going for, are you?â
 âWell, IâŚI just figuredâŚâ
 âOh my gosh, you were.â
 âHey, come on!â Fox folded his arms. âWhat else are we supposed to do?â
 âLiterally anything else.â Pikachu rolled his eyes. âThey donât even need us exactly to stand here. Weâre two ofâŚhow many versions of us exist here again?â
 âPoint taken, butââ
 âBut nothing.â Pikachu motioned for Fox to follow him. âPalutena is going to have a bunch of us at her temple.â
 âTo do what?â
 âI donât know, socialize?â Pikachu continued walking. âLook, you can stand here and wait in your numbered spot, if you want. But, Iâd rather relax and play with my friends than justâŚsit here.â
 Glancing back at the barren sky, Fox spun around as another portal opened in the sky. A goddess with flowing green hair rose up.
 âHow is it you mortals start these sort of things?â Palutena tapped her cheek, and then shrugged. âAh, whatever. Come on, letâs party!â
 Bewildered, Fox shook his head and walked behind Pikachu, as they both followed the massive crowd through the portal.
 Entering a vast structure in the heavens above, Fox and Pikachu stepped onto a grassy cliff. A smaller mouse scurried over to them and excited grabbed at Pikachu.
 âPikachu, Pikachu!â The tiny mouse bounced around. âCome on, come on! Kirbyâs going to play with me and Jigglypuff! And heâs bringing Meta Knight too!â
 âAw, thatâs really cute, PichuâŚwait, Meta Knight?â Pikachu grinned. âThis, Iâve got to see.â He turned back to Fox. âSee you later, Number 7.â
 âLater, Number 8.â
 âMaybe that trainer will let the other Pokemon play with us too!â
 âAs long as heâs not stuffing us in balls, sounds good.â
 Fox waved as the Pokemon hurried across the bridge. They bumped a black-winged angel off, who flapped his wings and floated back onto the wooden planks.
 âHey! Watch it!â
 âAw, donât be so angry, Pittoo.â Palutena floated to him, spiraling her staff around. âCome on, relax, enjoy yourself instead of brooding for once.â
 âItâs not brooding, itâs thinking quietly.â
 âSure, right.â
 âDonât you have an angel of your own to annoy?â
 âHe got selected to battle, or didnât you hear those other god hands choose him?â Palutena laughed. âThat means I get to boss you around in his place!â
 âNot happening.â
 âYouâre not refusing a goddess, are you, Pittoo?â
 âMy name is Dark Pit!â
 ââŚThat really, really doesnât sound much better.â
 Fox stifled a laugh and hopped from the cliff, down to the next, and walked over to a flat platform between it and another grassy cliff. He gazed out at the golden clouds and smiled before turning and sitting by the waterâs edge, listening to the cascading waterfall flow down below him.
 âYo, Fox!â
 Glancing up, Fox watched as a blue bird flipped backwards off of a cloud, leaping down and landing on the grass below. He popped back up, waved his wing with a wink, and walked over.
 âFalco, hey.â Fox waved, and then pointed past him. âYou do know there was a ladder that you couldâve taken, right?â
 âYeah, but wasnât that way more stylish?â Falco rubbed a wing over his beak. âThatâs much more my speed, you know?â
 âIf you want to break your feet some day, sure.â Fox chuckled as Falco sat beside him. âSo, what are you up to around here?â
 âNothing much, just enjoying a nice perch.â
 âLeave to Falco to find a high spot to hang from,â teased Fox.
 âWhat can I say?â Falco smirked. âI do prefer the air.â
 âOh, not that again.â
 âCome on, itâs a great line!â Falco puffed out his chest. âItâs reallyâŚme, you know?â
 âUh-huh.â
 âDonât be jealous because Iâm the one with more personality,â mocked Falco. âThatâs why a lot of people get into this place, you know. Go ask that spunky princess, the blonde fighter guy, or that blue vested vampire guy.â
 âVampire killer, I think.â
 âWhatever, they hang out with a vampire either way.â
 âTrue.â Fox blinked. âSpeaking of, have you seen Krystal?â
 âNope.â
 ââŚYouâŚdonât sound all that concerned about her.â
 âWhy should I?â Falco shrugged. âSheâs not really the same as us, you know?â
 âHey, she can fight just the sameââ
 âAs in from the same point in our universe, Fox.â
 âAh. WellâŚwait, what do you mean?â
 âYou know, that whole, uhâŚhow did the others put itâŚ?â Falco waved his wings around. âThe chronology thing! How sheâs from this set era based on a time that we never existed in. Itâs not really hers either, but itâs from that adventure.â
 âAn adventure of ours that weâve never been on?â
 âThere, that!â Falco grinned, as Fox tilted his head. ââŚDonât look at me like that. You remember going to the dinosaur planet, Sauria?â
 âNo, butâŚI donât remember a lot of things that Iâm supposed to around here.â Fox rubbed his head. âSomething about space alien species known as Aparoids, Andross having a grandson, itâs allâŚI donât know, foreign?â
 âIncludes Krystal,â reminded Falco.
 âLook, just because we donât really recognize her and she doesnât really understand why weâre different doesnât mean that we should treat her like she doesnât belong with us.â Fox lowered his eyes as Falco folded his arms. âCome on, donât be like that.â
 âSheâs weird, just admit it.â
 âDifferent, not weird,â corrected Fox.
 âCall it what you want.â Falco shrugged. âAnywho, thatâs neither here nor there. At least she has herself around here. Peppy being a big handsome penguin with a bunny headband is weird.â
 âYeah, youâve gotâŚwait, what?â
 âI mean, I know itâs not really him, butââ
 âWhoa, whoa, back it up.â Fox pointed at Falco. âDid you just utter âhandsomeâ about that big penguin guy?â
 ââŚNo?â
 âPretty sure my hearing is one of the best around here.â
 âPretty sure youâre crazy.â
 âFalco.â
 âOk, maybe I did!â Falco hopped up from Foxâs side. âSo what?â
 âAre you into him?â
 âInto who?â
 âThat penguin.â Fox tapped at his chin. âI think heâsâŚDedede?â
 âKing Dedede.â
 âHoly crap, you do have a crush on him.â
 âDo not!â Falco blushed and twisted away. âItâs not like itâs that big of a deal.â
 âAre you so offended by me knowing?â
 âKnowing what?!â
 âThat you like the king.â
 âWhich?â Falco snapped his beak shut and twisted back, eyes widened. âUhâŚwhat?!â
 ââŚYou like more than one of them?â
 âNo!â Falco twisted back and placed his hands on his hips. âWhere do you even get off with those ideas?â
 âWell, the only red spots of your feathers are around your eyes, not your cheeks.â Fox pointed at Falcoâs brightened face. âAlso, I think even your beak is glowing a bit fromââ
 âI donât know what youâre talking about!â
 âAw, thatâs so cute.â Fox blinked. âHang on, did you like Peppy beforeâ?â
 âEw, no!â Falco fumed. âEnough, Fox!â
 âSoâŚif King Dedede is oneâŚâ Fox snapped his fingers. âOh, that King K. Rool guy, heâs another one, huh?â
 âGross, no way!â Falco stomped his foot. âCome off it, Fox!â
 âWow, you are.â Fox smirked. âThe penguin I get, birds of a feather and all that. But the crocodile?â
 âWhat?! Whatâs wrong with him?!â Falco shifted his eyes back and forth wildly. âUh, not that I care.â
 âHmm.â Foxâs grin broadened. âDo you have a thing for big guys, Falco? I didnât think you had a particular type.â
 âI donât!â
 âYou sure?â
 âShut up, Fox!â
 âHey, do you like that Wario guy too?â
 âAre you serious?!â Falco scooped Fox up by his jacket. âOoh, I could clobber you myself, here and now!â
 âThink that role is reserved for me.â
 Both pilots spiraled around as a third stood on the cliffs above them, smirking a toothy grin.
 âWolf!â
 âSaved by the rival.â Falco sighed, and blinked, releasing Fox. âNotâŚnot that I needed that.â
 âGood, because Iâm not here to rescue you from your embarrassing heavy guy crushes,â mocked Wolf.
 âOh, come on!â
 âWhat the hell do you want, Wolf?!â
 âJust keeping tabs on you, same as always, Fox.â Wolf spun away. âCarry on, you two, gossiping like those psychic kids and villagers about silly crushes.â
 Running off, Wolf cackled as he hurried away. Tightening his hands to fists, Fox jerked up from the ground.
 âFox, heâs absolutely baiting you,â cautioned Falco. âWhat for is beyond me, but thatâs definitely bait.â
 âMaybe so, but Iâm not just going to let him go around causing trouble whenever or wherever he wants.â Fox jumped up to the cliff. âIf anyone can stop him, itâs me!â
 âYou get him, Fox!â Falco rubbed behind his head as Fox twisted around, shooting his teammate an inquisitive look. âUhâŚwhat?â
 âYouâre not coming?â
 âUmâŚyou, uh, you want me to?â
 ââŚYouâre waiting for that penguin, arenât you?â
 âNo!â
 âWhatever, I can handle Wolf on my own.â
 âHey, Fox!â
 Running across the bridge, Fox charged after Wolf, who disappeared past the fountain. Hopping down from a ledge as three princesses giggled and whispered with one another near an actual temple, he surged past them, swinging down past another ledge.
 âHey, watch where youâre going, tough guy!â The princess in yellow and orange placed her hands on her hips, glaring after him. âMy girlfriends and I donât appreciate you just running amuck, got it?â
 âSorry, didnât mean to interrupt the gal pals.â
 âGirlfriends.â
 âRight, thatâs whatââ Wolf clasped his mouth shut. âOh. âŚHuh. My mistake. Carry on and enjoy, ladies.â
 Grinning, he hopped down to a pit below, falling past a hall and down to a cavern dungeon. A blue frog and a red tiger were chattering together there.
 âOk, so the cave was a less, uhâŚintimate than I imagined,â admitted the tiger. âThatâs my bad.â
 âItâs double your bad, Incineroar, because I told you this place wasnât a nice spot,â grumbled the frog. âIâve been here before, you havenât.â
 âSorry, for the third time already, Greninja!â Incineroar folded his arms. âLook, I just thought somewhere darker might be cozier for us thanâŚâ He shuddered. ââŚCozier than anywhere near the waterfalls.â
 âOr the fountain,â insisted Greninja. âThose were nicer spots!â
 âBoy oh boy, I do love interrupting couples today.â Both jerked around and glared at Wolf, who grinned and waved at them. âHello, fellow evildoers.â
 âIn our world, âevilâ is a description of mysterious types that people donât understand, including our own kind,â snapped the frog. âItâs not the same as in yours at all.â
 âRight, sure.â
 âWhat do you want, Wolf?â
 âOoh, you know me!â Wolf placed his hand over his chest. âIâm touched, kitty-cat.â
 âItâs Incineroar,â snapped Greninja. âQuit being condescending.â
 âSo defensive of your partner,â teased Wolf. âHow sweet.â
 âIf you donât want me to pound you out of the stratosphere, youâll choose your next words carefully.â Incineroar growled.
 âCome on, we all know youâre a big softie.â
 âIâm not,â warned Greninja.
 âNo, youâŚyouâre rougher.â Wolf grinned. âLike me.â
 âWhat?â
 âYou two and I should team up once in a while,â offered Wolf. âAfter all, Iâve got an assassin on my team back where Iâm from, like you, froggie.â Wolf beamed as Greninja rolled his eyes. âAnd you, wellâŚapparently, I have worked with a big cat before. Maybe not as meaty, and maybe not to my recollection, butââ
 âNot interested.â Incineroar smirked. âLike you called it, Iâm the big softie. Folks may like me fooling around with the bad guys for show, but Iâm not about to roll with one like you outside of one.â
 ââŚHuh. First time that one backfired on me.â
 âWolf!â
 Twisting back with a jump, Wolf lowered his eyes as Fox growled at him from above.
 âSorry, boys, looks like Iâve got to run.â He grinned back to them. âEnjoy your date. Offerâs open whenever you like.â
 âItâll stay open,â both Pokemon fired back simultaneously.
 Hopping up onto an orange spring, Wolf flew up and past Fox, bouncing onto another spring and upwards again.
 âGet back here!â
 Jumping onto the spring, Fox chased after him. Incineroar and Greninja blinked athe two disappearing pilots and glanced back to each other.
 âFountain of Dreams would have been a much nicer spot to be right now,â insisted Greninja. âWe could have had a relaxing evening there.â
 âOh, here we go.â Incineroar sighed and rolled his eyes. âBabe, what part of âFire Typeâ donât you get?â
 Fox carried on after Wolf, but stopped short as he climbed up to the fountain. A monkey in a cap and shirt walked past him.
 âOh, hey! UhâŚDiddy Kong!â Fox hurried to the monkey. âListen, can you help me catch Wolf? I need toââ
 âWolf?! Heâs here, in this place?!â
 Jerking back, Fox blinked at the monkey. His eyes were lowered and he grinned darkly.
 âStar Fox, Iâm certainly not about to help you over my, ahâŚleader.â
 ââŚSoâŚyou not wearing redâŚis becauseâŚ?â Fox blinked. âAre you ok, Diddy?â
 âItâs Andrew, Fox!â
 ââŚAh.â Fox nodded. âIn that caseâŚâ
 Grabbing the monkey by the shirt, Fox flung him out past the bridge and spiraling away from the skies, as the chimp screamed out and fell away.
 âYouâre lucky that doesnât kill you,â called Fox with a wave. Twisting back, he gazed past the fountain. âNowâŚafter Wolf.â
 Clawing his way up platforms past the temple, Wolf leapt up and to the shrine that hovered above the smaller temple. He rushed to the altar, where Palutena talked with a blue haired woman.
 âSo then, I rushed back through time to go help my father, and put a stop to the fell dragon once and for all.â The woman blinked, and unsheathed her sword. âLady Palutena! Be wary. A beast approaches.â
 âWhat?â Palutena turned around. âOh, you.â She smiled. âWolf, wasnât it?â
 âThatâs right.â Wolf rested his hands on his knees. âIâm going to need your help, ah, Lady Palutena.â
 âExcuse me?â
 âYou heard right.â He picked himself back up. âCome on, get me a portal that goes to the other big crowd, off at that cave.â
 âThe one below? I think thereâs only a couple down there.â
 âThe other cave, not even here.â Wolf paused and waved a fist up and down. âYou know, where that, uhâŚthat penguin comes from.â
 âOh, the Great Cave.â Palutena nodded, and turned back to the woman. âSorry, where were you with the story, Lucina?â
 âHey, I introduced you to her! The whole âmortal above the rest like Link,â wasnât it? Theyâre the two that catch your eye the most.â Wolf folded his arms. âYou owe me.â
 âI believe youâve forgotten that Iâm goddess,â reminded Palutena, maintaining her smile as she whipped back to Wolf. âI donât owe you anything.â
 âBut donât you want to help out a poor, troubled creature like me?â
 âYou have me confused with the other goddess who takes in natureâs strays.â
 âCome on, I need to get somewhere where I can get lost with a partner of mine.â
 âOh, him.â Palutena giggled. âThat much I could arrange. Just give me a moment to get the Handsâ attention and permission.â
 ââŚDonât you use your own powers here?â
 âNot quite. This place isnât the same as my home.â Palutena tapped at the altar. âI can use some magic here, but the Hands are the ones in control.â She turned and raised her staff. âOk, we should be good.â
 âWait, that quick?â
 âI may be limited here, but I am a goddess.â
 A portal opened across the sky and Wolf gazed in at the castle and grass structures over lava. He smirked as he heard someone groan and crawl up the shrine.
 âWolf!â
 âThanks a bundle, then, goddess!â Wolf rushed through the portal. âDonât keep me waiting, Fox!â
 âGet back here!â
 Running after Wolf, Fox disappeared through the portal as it sealed away from the heavenly skies. Palutena sighed and flipped her hair.
 âMy apologies, Lucina.â The swordswoman gawked at her as she leaned against the altar. âNow, you went through time to catch up with Chrom, right? I think heâs with Robin past the tower now, if you want to go see those menâŚwell, you know their bonds, Iâm sure.â
 Jumping out of the portal over the castle and landing on the platform over the lava, Fox whirled around, spotting Wolf as he flipped down from a ledge past the palm trees.
 âCatch me if you can, McCloud!â
 âDamn it, Wolf!â
 Flipping past women with guns, with one blowing a kiss to the other, Fox and Wolf descended across the platforms, jumping down deeper into the cave.
 âMind the mine carts, Fox,â cautioned Wolf.
 âWhat do you care?!â
 âA lot.â
 âWhat?!â
 âCome on, letâsââ
 âNo, enough of this!â
 Tackling Wolf, the two canine pilots dropped past a burning wall and crashed down onto a tile ramp. Eying the track that ascended past the cannon, Wolf exhaled, and grunted as Fox pinned him to the floor.
 âStart talking, Wolf!â Fox growled. âWhat are you up to?â
 âNever thought youâd end up on top between us,â teased Wolf.
 âWuhâŚwhat?!â
 âLighten up, Fox.â Wolf pushed Fox from atop him. âCome on, letâs go somewhere else.â
 âOh no, I didnât chase you from one stage to another to justâŚtalk!â
 âHey, Iâm the one that wanted to come here to do just that.â
 ââŚCome again?â
 âNuh-uh.â Wolf wagged his finger. âCome on, follow me. Before we get run overâŚâ
 Ambling down the ramp, Wolf beckoned Fox to follow. Raising an eyebrow, glancing back for the cart, Fox shook his head and followed Wolf down the ramp. Ahead of them, past the platforms before the castle, stood a boy in an orange tunic.
 âOh, isnât that one of the Links?â Fox waved to him.
 âFox, hold onââ
 âHello there, Link!â
 Twisting around, the boy grinned happily. He plucked a bomb out and hopped forward at Wolf and Fox.
 ââŚDoes he normally do that?â
 âNo!â
 âDidnât think so.â
 Jumping out, Wolf kicked the boy back, knocking his bomb away. Grinning still, the boy hopped up, and bounced away along the ramp of railway tracks.
 âKids with bombs are scary, but that was outright terrifying,â murmured Wolf. âYou good, Fox?â
 âWhat was wrong with him?!â
 âThat wasnât actually a Link, Fox.â Wolf scratched his head. âArenât you used to this world, yet?â
 âYou say that like you are!â
 âKind of am.â
 âHow?!â
 âWeâre Spirits, Fox. Itâs not like weâre actually who we are.â
 ââŚCome again?â
 âLook, Iâm not explaining this on the tracks.â Wolf jumped down and past the buried castle walls. âLetâs go this way.â
 Raising an eyebrow, Fox followed Wolf along, and they walked past the castleâs pillars. Ahead, beyond the platform, were a man and monster.
 âIsnât that Bowser and Mario?â Fox pointed at the two.
 âDonât try greeting them,â warned Wolf. He glanced at the pair and exhaled, brushing his head. âWell, at least theyâre the usual two.â
 âHuh?â
 âJust shut up and listen.â
 Blinking, Fox looked from Wolf and back to the duo. Mario watched as Bowser took his hand, and guided him to the tiled platforms below the lava ceiling.
 âCome on, just look at that!â Bowser grinned to Mario. âThatâs such a look for my castle, and itâd be perfect!â
 âWhile I admit that a lava infested castle sounds like it should belong to you, Iâm pretty happy that itâs not yours.â
 âMario, come on.â Bowser lifted his arms and flopped them down. âThis place should be mine, not Dededeâs or Kirbyâs or whoever.â
 âMeta Knightâs?â
 âSure, him. Though he owns a whole battleship, so he doesnât care about this place.â
 âIâm not sure if any of them do, really.â
 âAll the more reason it should have been my castle!â
 âYou did get a few places that look like it,â reminded Mario. He guided Bowser back by the hand, and pointed at the castle walls. âBesides, look at the windows ofâŚare those stained glass or something else?â
 âThey look like clay.â
 âWeird.â Mario shook his head. âAnyway! This place isnât really the best location, is it? Itâs so hard to find anyone around here, itâs too spacious, and would you really want your castle to be so marred by tons of lava spots where touching them could practically kill you?â
 ââŚThat literally sounds like my castle, so, yes.â
 âUgh, BowserâŚâ Mario brushed a hand over his head. âOk, look, I admit that you should have a better place to call your homeââ
 âThank you!â
 âBut, you and I can share nicer spots around the Mushroom Kingdom stages.â Mario took both of Bowserâs hands into his own. âIsnât that be nicer than, I donât know, a huge mess like this place?â
 âMaybe.â Bowser sighed. âI just donât like sharing them withâŚletâs see, three princesses, one of my plants, each of the seven Koopalings, the alternate reality version of you as a doctorââ
 âOk, itâs strange, I know, but we have a lot of places that feel like home for all of us,â reasoned Mario. âOut of those places, you and I can always find somewhere thatâs just right for, well, us.â
 ââŚAnd Junior, and your brotherââ
 âBowser.â
 âYeah, those two I donât mind as much.â He chuckled as Mario nudged his stomach. âSorry, sorry. Youâre right, I just donât like admitting it.â He shrugged. âSo, you want to get out of here?â
 âWe need to wait for someone to get us out of here.â Mario scratched behind his head. âBesides, you said you wanted me to model some of the new costumes for you?â
 âOoh, can you bring those out from here?â Bowser clapped his hands together. âYour wedding tuxedo is a lot hotter than I like admitting to.â
 âWait, what?!â
 Mario and Bowser spiraled around as Wolf groaned, pushing Fox down from their sight.
 âThese places have no privacy at all,â muttered Bowser. Louder, he grumbled out, âWhat do you want, Wolf?â
 âNothing from you, Bowser.â He sheepishly grinned. âJust admiring you and yours.â
 âSuper. Admire us another time and give us our minute alone, will you?â
 âSure thing, buddy.â
 âWeâre not buddies.â
 âWeâre definitely buddies.â
 âGet lost, already.â
 Chuckling, Wolf slid down from the pillar and pulled Fox away. Tugging his arm free, Fox pointed back in the coupleâs direction.
 âI have several questions.â
 âSpirits, Fox.â Wolf rolled his visible eye, and ambled away from the buried castle walls. âThat literally answers everything.â
 âIt does not!â
 âWeâre Spirits that are based on the lot of our different universes and all mashed together here to fight and mingle otherwise, while also preventing the fabric of reality from being disrupted and causing a calamity across all of our homes from our joining.â Wolfâs shoulders slumped as Foxâs mouth parted open. âHow does that not make sense to you?â
 âYou sounded smart.â
 âOuch. Thanks.â
 Spotting the Young Link in orange ride a mine cart down holding a bomb, Wolf grabbed Fox again, and dragged him across the platforms in front of the castle. They waited as the mine cart crashed on the platform above them, rattled off past, and crashed into the walls behind them.
 âIs he going to beâ?â
 âHeâs fine.â Wolf tugged Fox on again. âQuit acting like you donât know how this place works, Fox. Didnât you lob a monkey off the bridge earlier?â
 âYou saw that?â
 âHey, you were supposed to be chasing me.â Wolf chuckled. âHad to know why you stopped.â
 âHe was acting like Oikonny from home.â
 âAh.â Wolf shook his head. âI donât know why multiple versions of me ever even recruited him. I get that it was mostly Androssâs meddling, butââ
 âSpeaking of, weâre through, by the way.â Fox pulled from Wolf again. âYou helped them with killing my father, and youâre still my enemy.â
 âBased on him, not him,â reiterated Wolf. âIs it that hard to get?â
 âDoesnât matter to me.â Fox shook his head. âYouâre a Wolf through and through after all.â
 âA Wolf that has memories of multiple lives and origins, Fox.â He chased after Fox, as the two hopped past a platform near blue and purple crystals. âThereâs a world, a galaxy, where you and I have allied with one another. Multiple times.â
 âThatâs got to be a lie.â
 âItâs not!â Fox turned back as Wolf paused. âItâŚitâs not. You know about thatâŚuh, that alternate version of the Lylat that Krystal yammers about?â
 âYou know her name?â
 âSheâs one of us!â Wolf shuddered. âEven if I do find that creepy to admit out loud.â
 âGo on.â
 âHuh? Oh.â Wolf cleared his throat. âThat place, the one with the, umâŚthe Aparoids.â Wolf took Foxâs hand. âYou and I were side-by-side in that place.â
 âAndâŚyou remember that?â
 âWellâŚno.â
 âSo much for multiple memoriesââ
 âLook, Fox.â Wolf watched as Fox jumped down by the bottom section of crystal shards, and hopped after him. âPlease, Iâm trying toââ
 âTrying what, Wolf?!â Fox spiraled around. âWhat do you even want?â
 âThis version of me holds the memories of a Wolf that held some kind of basis on that Wolf.â Wolf dragged his claw over his face. âThat sounded so much better in my head.â
 âDid it?â
 âFox, the Wolf that was a Trophy, from this universeâŚâ Wolf paused and straightened his posture. âYou know how weâre all assigned numbers and weâre meant to be based on fighters that were previously from this place, right?â
 âWhat, like how Iâm Number 7 out ofâŚhowever many we are again?â
 âYes, yes, that!â Wolf grinned, more genuinely than his usual kind. âYouâre Number 7, and Iâm Number 44. Weâre the basis of fighters that the Master Hand has had clash before in this place. And I donât get that very much, but I know of the Wolf that was a Trophy before me, one that was lost years ago.â
 âThey lost a few before, and only some were found during the last gathering of everyone,â recalled Fox. Wolf raised an eyebrow to him, and Fox turned away. âI paid attention to the stories, I justâŚdonât really understand them that well. Or the ones that keep calling me one of the Original 8, like that should mean something to me.â
 âIt does in this universe, Fox.â Wolf grabbed his hand again. âAnd thatâs the weird thing, because I know you have some of those memories instilled into you, just like I do.â
 âUhâŚwell, I sort ofââ
 âYou do! I already know you do!â Wolf pointed back. âThatâs why you can pick up on so many names and recognize faces quickly. Marioâs like an old friend even though he looks nothing like us, right?â
 âHeâŚfeels that way, sure, butââ
 âBut nothing!â Wolf shook Foxâs hands again. âThis is what I mean. These versions of us, weâreâŚwe are, but weâre not who we are.â He smiled again. âThat means we have the freedom to pursue what we want when weâre not part of the battles, not part of the show.â His lips curled up further. âWhy do you think weâve hurried past so many pairs earlier?â
 âWhat? Those princesses, Mario with Bowserâ?â
 âEven Falco crushing on some weird type interest he developed.â Wolf nodded. âThatâs all part of the freedoms we do have here, the will to choose how we go forward from who weâre supposed to shadow, and who we want to be.â
 âThatâs a really weird concept.â
 âIs it, though?â Wolf folded his arms. âCome on, donât act like you feel entirely comfortable around even Falco.â
 âHeâs my good friend and teammate,â defended Fox. âWe belong together.â
 âThereâs nothing about him that seems odd?â Wolf snorted. âBesides the crushes.â
 âWellâŚnot weird enoughââ
 âBut there are differences to what you think you know about him!â Wolf pointed at Fox. âAnd, and, he has those weird lines that he brings up that he swears up and downââ
 âThat heâs used countless times before,â finished Fox. He blinked and gazed at the shards. ââŚLike itâs something weâve talked about plenty of times already, but I donât even remember him saying them.â
 âExactly!â
 âStillâŚâ Fox folded his arms. âI donât thinkâŚI mean, we are like that, butâŚFalcoââ
 âNo, no, Falcoâs served his purpose for my point, leave him to his one-sided lusting.â Fox opened his mouth, but Wolf covered it. âHe barely knows any of them, and I know for a fact that King K. Rool has eyes more for Ridley and Donkey Kong over Falco, so thatâs definitely a lost cause.â Wolf dropped his hand away. âUs so-called villains tend to get lumped together, even though youâve already seen that Iâm not exactly the best of friends with them.â
 âBowser likes you.â
 âNo he doesnât.â
 âHe couldâve been a lot angrier at us before.â Fox smirked. âI think he does like you.â
 âAnd again, you feel like you know him, donât you?â Wolf placed his hands on his hips as Foxâs arms fell, and he slowly nodded. âItâs because your Spirit is imbued with the memories of the Fox, or the Foxes, that came before you.â
 âIt really doesnât sound any more normal the more you repeat that,â deadpanned Fox.
 âFine, sorry.â Wolf shrugged. âAnyway, my point is that, when weâre not being forced to face off against each otherâŚwhy donât you and IâŚget to know one another better, as we are here?â
 ââŚYou have no friends.â
 âNot really where I was going with that.â
 âYou want stable friends that are more familiar to you than your villain buddies.â
 âSort of on the right track, yes.â Wolf sighed. âFox, whether we like to admit it or not, weâre close, and connected.â Fox opened his mouth. âYes we are, donât argue it.â Fox shut his mouth. âLook, can we justâŚtry something different?â
 âFor what? For us, or forâŚfor who Fox and Wolf are supposed to be?â
 âUhâŚboth?â Wolf scratched his cheek and nodded. âBoth, letâs go with both.â
 âSoâŚwhat do you want to be?â Fox huffed and rolled his eyes. âLike Mario and Bowser back there?â
 âWhy not?â
 âBecause weâre not a couple!â
 âWhy not?â
 âBecause weâreâŚweâreâŚâ
 âNot enemies.â Wolf held up his finger and wagged it. âWeâre supposed to be, especially when weâre on display. But who we areâŚwho we want to beâŚwe donât have to follow that design set for us.â
 âSo, what, you want to be boyfriends?â Fox shot up an eyebrow. âWhat, am I supposed to believe that youâve been attracted to me all this time?â
 ââŚWellââ
 âOh, come on.â
 âYouâve got really pretty eyes. Emeralds.â
 âWolf.â
 âA really nice figure all around tooââ
 âWolf!â
 âWhat? Iâm catching you up to speed.â
 âButâŚbut weâre notâŚâ Foxâs cheeks fired up. ââŚYou really like my eyes?â
 âSure, the eyes are the compliment you liked.â
 âWolf!â
 âYes, ok?!â Wolf laughed and placed a claw on Foxâs shoulder. ââŚYes.â He sighed. âI canât get rid of thisâŚthis gnawing feeling in my mind. I want to be with you, and for some reasonâŚI donât know, being at your side feelsâŚright.â
 ââŚWhich Wolf is that one based on?â
 âI donât know.â Wolf shrugged. âI donât know if itâs the past Wolfâs thoughts, the current Wolfâs thoughts, some foreign iteration of me, orâŚor if itâs what I came up with myself.â Wolf sighed. âI justâŚI feel some weird sense of peace with you. Familiarity. Nostalgia. I donât know what it is, but it calms me.â He sighed, brushing his arm over his reddened face. âYou ever get that?â
 ââŚUsually with Falco, honestly, butâŚâ Fox rubbed behind his neck. âIâd be lying if I denied having those feelings around you too.â
 ââŚSoâŚâ
 ââŚThis is absolutely insane, butâŚâ
 âIs Fox McCloud thinking about a life with me?â
 âThinking about it.â Fox groaned as Wolf beamed. âDonât make me regret that.â
 âYou wonât, promise.â
 Wolf kissed Foxâs cheek, to which Fox jumped. He backed away as Wolf tilted his head at him.
 âWhat? Boyfriends kiss.â
 âWeâre not boyfriends!â
 âNot yet.â
 ââŚYetâŚâ
 âFox?â
 ââŚSomehowâŚthis feelsâŚâ
 ââŚFamiliar?â
 âYeah.â Fox frowned. âWhy?â
 âI donât know.â Wolf touched his chest. âMy heart pounds harder around you than anyone else, but that feels somehow like itâs supposed to be that way.â
 âWhen Iâm with you, I just thought that my fur standing on edge was because weâre supposed to be enemies.â Fox gazed down. âBut it feels that way now, and I donât feel like fighting with you, soâŚthatâs not the case, is it?â
 âMaybe it is. And maybe weâre perverting who weâre meant to be after all.â
 âBut then why should we do it?â
 âBecause itâs our choice.â Wolf closed the distance between them. âMaybe you donât want to be with me, Fox, and thatâs fine. But I like this, because we get to pick that we want to be together. And nothing feels like a greater middle finger to what destiny dictates us to be than to being with someone whoâs meant to be your enemy.â
 ââŚWhere the hell did you pull all of that from?â
 âAh, well, I, uhâŚI might have listened to Chrom and Robin talking about their feelings and stories andâŚI donât know, how their big romance started.â Wolf shrugged. âEveryone thought Chrom could only feel that way about the woman Robin, but he acted like that around the man Robin as well, or one form of him did, soâŚthe two of them are why a lot of us questioned who we can be.â
 ââŚSo Robin and Chromâs relationship spawned all of this?â
 âNo, not quiteâŚbut it did help a lot of us wonder.â Wolf cleared his throat. âAt least, I did happen to pick up on it from them, and then went around, you know, observingââ
 âSpying.â
 âNot reallyâŚok, fine, yes, I spied on others.â Wolf shrugged. âSue me. It helped me come up with all of these thoughts.â
 ââŚHow many others?â
 âNot that many.â
 âAll of the other villains?â
 âWell, a lot of them, namely Bowser and K. Rool, but not all of them.â Wolf groaned. âCan we just get back to what we want to do?â Wolf rested his arms on Foxâs shoulders. âTell me: do you want to try this, whatever we haveâŚdo you want to be with me?â
 âThatâsâŚoddly polite of you.â
 âIâm a jerk, but Iâve got a little bit of heart.â Wolf chuckled. âItâs just buried away.â
 âLike this castle?â
 âUmâŚsure.â
 âOk then.â Fox slowly exhaled. âThenâŚmaybe I canâŚunearth it?â
 They paused for a moment. Then, Wolf cracked a smile and snorted.
 âDonâtââ
 âWhat?â
 âYouâre ruining my only moment.â
 âThat was cute.â
 âOh, shut up.â
 âMake me.â
 âGladly.â
 Grabbing Wolfâs cheeks, Fox hesitated, and the two gazed at one another. Slowly, he guided his face into Wolfâs, as they closed their eyes, and pressed their lips together. Wolf wrapped his arms around Foxâs back, as Foxâs hands slid down Wolfâs face and around his shoulders. Gently, they broke apart, and opened their eyes, staring into one another again, and slightly smiling.
 âFinally.â
 Both pilots jerked forward and whirled around, glancing at the cliff above them. A white and purple cat rolled its eyes while a black and blue jackal lightly clapped his paws together.
 âThat only took, what, an hour?â
 âMewtwo, hush.â
 âHowâŚhow long were you listening?â Fox poked his head past Wolfâs, as the larger canine faced away from their interlopers. âAnd why are you still?â
 âYou interrupted our date,â deadpanned Mewtwo. âThe least Lucario and I could do was intrude on yours.â
 âHush.â Lucario smiled to the pair below. âI thought the whole thing was really adorable. A great confession sequence, and a true proclamation of love! Your auras were dancing with such a delight when you finally came togetherââ
 âQuit overselling it, their minds were messes.â
 âIt was sweet and sincere, Mewtwo.â
 âIt was a disaster that was barely averted.â
 âUhâŚthankâŚyou?â Fox tilted his head. ââŚAre you two just going to stay up there, orâŚ?â
 âNo, weâre leaving.â
 âWhat?!â
 âLucario, weâre leaving. You got to see them kiss, theyâre a couple, weâre going somewhere else now.â
 âButâŚbut we could do more cute things too!â Lucario tugged at his partner as Mewtwo drifted away. âDouble date! Wouldnât that be nice?â
 âIf we get Incineroar and Greninja with us, we can.â
 âOk, then a triple date!â
 âNo, Lucario.â
 âBut itâs creative! You like creative things!â
 âNot like that.â
 âBut it uses imagination and your mind! Mewtwo, wait up! Canât we talk a little more about this? Hey, wait for me!â
 Fox waited and listened as the two disappeared up the cave. He sighed and chuckled, returning his attention to Wolf.
 âSo, uhâŚhowâd it feel to have your favorite role reversed?â
 âIâm an asshole.â
 âItâs not that bad.â
 âFox, you donât get it.â Wolf buried his head into Foxâs shoulder. âOh, Iâve done that so many times, and nowâŚhow could I have been such a foul, rottenâ?â
 âYouâre not going to change, are you?â
 âNope, interloping is fun.â Wolf picked his head up and grinned. âThatâs how I got you after me, isnât it?â
 âThatâs notâŚoh, forget it.â Fox tugged Wolf along. âCome on, letâs move up the cave and look for a nicer spot near the crystal shards.â
 âIsnât this one good?â
 âNot with those giant spikes hanging off the wall, no.â
 âGiantâŚ?â Wolf turned and his ears twitched. âOh yeah, those.â
 âWe should make like those other two and head somewhere else.â Fox pulled Wolf along. âLetâs go.â
 âHa.â Wolf followed him along. âLead the way, Fox.â
 Both smirked at one another as they climbed up the Great Cave, searching for a spot to settle for a little while. They held one anotherâs hands all the while, and remained together throughout the night.
Ha. Haha. Ahahahahaha! I...I never want to write the Smash universe again. Good lord, is this how Sakurai feels every time?
But yeah, I thought it would be fun to analyze Ultimateâs interpretation on the characters, use my past one-shots of the fighters being reflections of their actual basis characters, and came up with this! ...Please donât look at me like that, I kind of tried, ok?
Itâs not always easy to pair off enemies, especially when the canon gets rewritten to screw you over ones that people love to see clash, but I thought Iâd take the bait and go for it. Besides, at least I tried putting a little bit of logic as to how and why Fox/Wolf could be a thing besides them being cute together.
Please donât hate me, I really, really tried.
Anyway, it was fun pulling that one out for Smash. And I think it featured a good number of pairs that @mrnerdling and @matsutzu would like and/or appreciate to some capacity, as well as another to satisfy myself, and another to barely reference something I made for another friend! One that probably wonât read this unless I literally tell them about it, oops.
So...trivia nonsense time!
Stages used:
That first one? Thatâs the stupid cliffside that keeps popping up since Smash 4 decided that this was a place where things happen. Or since Brawlâs ending, I guess? Iâm not sure which one to blame, but Ultimate decided to bring it back, so I decided to use it! Bonus points: itâs also the living incarnation of the character select screen, because yes.
Palutenaâs Temple. Because letâs be real, a goddess like her would totally have a party in her temple, which is just called Angel Land in Japan, I think, and that explains why thereâs only one actual temple there. The more you know. Anyway! Itâs one of my favorite giant map stages, and I used it previously, but I figured, screw it, it didnât involve the whole map last time. So, clearly, I decided to one-up myself. Like an idiot amazing writer.
The Great Cave Offensive. That other mega map stage that...honestly, do people like playing this stage? I love Kirby to bits and pieces, but...itâs really a tacky servicing to both the mode from Super Star Ultra, a mess to play on, and just kind of...I donât know, not great all around. Still, I figured I could try using it, since Bowserâs Castle isnât available because of this hellhole itâs unique and a worthwhile challenge to include in a writing piece as a possible intimate locale. Plus, I have a very fond place in my heart for crystal shards. You know the ones.
Characters/Ships:
Obviously, the main pairing is Fox/Wolf. Because thatâs what both of my friends like and itâs doable pairing without breaking my brain over crossovers really making too difficult of leaps in terms of sensibility. Itâs not my top pick from the Star Fox universe, but mine are trashy, and this one is a fandom favorite that also is in Smash, so of course, a clear winner.
Falco and his embarrassing, one-sided crushes on big boys. Why that? You know, I thought early on with this, âGee whiz, whatâs Falco gonna do while Fox and Wolf run around with each other? Heâs like the only bird in the game.â And then I remembered King Dedede existed. And then somewhere along the way, a wire in my brain snapped and I came up with, âHurr durr, Falco/Dedede is a doable ship because blue birds, Smash makes it happen.â After that, another wire snapped, and I somehow came up with Falco liking big dudes. No, I canât explain that one. You thought I had something clever for it, and I might have at one point, but itâs lost to me as of writing. And you think I know what Iâm doing. No you donât, no one does.
Greninja/Incineroar, a cute pairing that Iâve developed an obsessive interest in thanks to Incineroarâs Classic campaign. Theyâre actually pretty cute, both starters, both part-Dark, and both clearly not given enough attention together, so, screw it! I paired them off. I think this is the...you know what? I donât know how manieth pairing. Itâs number I lost track of how many people I put with Greninja. Heâs flexible, sue me. I also like ninjas, but that has nothing to do with it. Ever. Heâs just a really cute, quiet boyfriend for the equally cute, louder and showier Incineroar. Theyâre perfect. Why donât people enjoy these two together? Itâs because of Lucario, isnât it? Lucario literally gets everyone in the Pokemon universe, the shipped king of the franchise, everyoneâs favorite...
Palutena/Lucina, a fan-preferred pair that I didnât get to give enough attention like I wanted to, because I really, really enjoyed writing Palutenaâs sass, and Lucina just didnât really fit into that. Lucina is a good girl, with a wholesome heart that acted to help save her dad, his friends, her friends, their kingdom, and all the world from an evil dragon. Palutena lives to drag Pit, Dark Pit, Medusa, Hades, Viridi, and literally everyone she meets down to the ground. This is her truest self, and thatâs the reason we all love her. At least, thatâs how I lie to myself about people liking her. Bonus points: crossover ship!
Peach/Daisy/Rosalina, the threesome pairing of the story that I barely touched on. And...no, I donât have an excuse here. Daisy made it into Smash after years of being a palette swap. Like, she deserved that so much. And her girlfriends would be so happy to have her. And yeah, there was a part of my brain that said, âDaisyâs the kind of girl to use the word âgirlfriendsâ referring to her friends.â And then I did it again, but then made it so that girlfriends were more than just gal pals. Youâre welcome.
Ridley/King K. Rool, a pair that I mentioned via Wolf, because theyâre a duo that people have wanted in Smash for years, and, letâs be real, theyâd probably be friends that might notice thereâs something more blossoming, and not just because K. Rool reminds Ridley of his buddy Kraid, but because thereâs a magical, special feeling between them, and it really needs to be addressed by the fandom at large, because I feel they could really make great things...
Bowser/Mario, my flagship pairing that I have been waiting to stuff into another story for the past three years at minimum. No, there is no logic behind this. But you know what? Bowserâs Classic clear congratulations screen has him kidnap Mario. In his wedding tux. Away from Peach. So, checkmate everybody, someone on the Smash team absolutely read my fanfic, and they convinced Sakurai to add that in. That is absolutely a thing. You all get to deal with a version of Bowsario being canon. Youâre freaking welcome. Also, both of my friends like this pair too, so up yours, I get triple bonus points for that, because Iâm the one that reminds them it exists every day. Every. Day.
Mewtwo/Lucario, that pair at the end that vaguely references my other Smash gift if you squint really hard. Ok, no, it doesnât. I just wanted to shamelessly add in another pair of Pokemon. Because I love Pokemon, and I love that they have the most fighters on the roster. Cry about it all you want, haters. Pokemon wins. They always win. They are tripping with representation, and you all know it. Also, this pair shuts down people that hated on Lucario back during Brawl days, so it gives me special pleasure to consistently include it.
Robin/Chrom, the mostly-mentioned-only gay pair that helped me come up with, âScrew what destiny says, weâre gayâ as a general story theme. I could have made it straight Chrobin. I could have, but, that goes so very hard against my ethics of...of...screw it, I like gay Chrobin better, their supports were cuter together, and there was a gay Fire Emblem Awakening hack that made their pairing so fulfilling to me. Chrom most definitely deserved to be in Smash, his daughter and husband needed him, so you haters can go away! ...Theyâre a beautiful couple, ok? I have like one friend who endlessly supports them elsewhere, and thatâs good.
Bayonetta/Zero Suit Samus, as the blink-and-youâll-miss-them pairing that you all most definitely glanced over because I only addressed them as women with guns. And it was definitely not Bayonetta who blew the kiss, because Samus is the one who...ok, fine, it was Bayo, shove off. And it was another attempt at a crossover ship, which I didnât have nearly enough of. And I wouldâve added more too, if it werenât for that meddling clock ticking away and reminding me that I donât have eternity to mix and match the Smash cast!
Pikachu, the character who no one wouldâve expected to talk if Deadpool wasnât making a movie about it. I firmly believe that only Deadpool could pull that off. No, not the actor. Deadpool literally came to life and managed to get Detective Pikachu off the ground. Anyway, it has nothing to do with me liking Pokemon a whole lot.
Pichu, another Pokemon that appeared and had nothing to do with me liking Pokemon a whole lot, and isnât just the most adorable thing to appear and Iâm so happy heâs back, you guys, Iâm just...so...so happy.
Andrew Oikonny, a Spirit that embodied Diddy Kong and gave us the rare opportunity to see Fox display his top tier dominance in action. I mean, his violent side. Yes, that.
Poppy Bros. Jr., a Spirit that took form as Young Link and probably left a lot of you scratching your heads. It has nothing to do with me liking Young Link, his return, and/or wanting to add a lunatic bomb-thrower. It absolutely has nothing to do with me really, really wishing Bomberman was a playable character on the roster. If Hudson still existed, he...ok, he was never likely to make it, and Iâm honestly amazed that Konami agreed to have him as an Assist Trophy character.
Samus, you know, with the armor, because I think I mentioned her for like two seconds with Pikachu and Foxâs segment. Like, physically being there. And separate from Zero Suit Samus. Theyâre totally different characters by the way. Metroid.
Master Hand, the godly being that I decided runs Smash Bros., probably like literally everyone else who writes Smash fanfic. Because, come on, the Hands absolutely run the show, right? Who else could? They donât even get to be full villains anymore, because theyâre always manipulated and because theyâre our connection to the franchise as a whole. Master Hand represents the...get ready for this...spirit of Smash Bros. Boom, there it is! Look at that, Iâm awesome.
Crazy Hand, that awkward kid twin for Master Hand that pretty much everyone goes out of their way to include, because honestly, we all love and relate to the crazy one.
Krystal, a frequently mentioned character that didnât actually appear, but I decided to list her name individually since...she...you know, influenced some things. Like...multiverse. And...uh...thatâs really it.
Mentioned: Kirby, Meta Knight, Shulk, Pit, Duck Hunt (the other bird of the roster is here!!), Link, you could make an argument for Toon Link, Wario, Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings lumped together, Luigi, and probably a handful more. Hell no, I did not even try to cram in the full roster, and yes, I absolutely wanted to try. And yes, I didnât even include a bunch of my favorites, though I got a lot of them.
Items:
Haha, youâre hilarious. No, I wasnât anywhere near including items. We didnât watch actual fights. I donât hate myself enough for that.
Music:
Probably something from youtube that I listened to and did not include in the story. Probably also from Smash. Youâre welcome.
Good lord, is there always a huge credits list for things related to Smash? How do people honestly torment themselves by asking for more things to be added into a game franchise armed to the teeth with literally I canât handle how much content? Itâs wild.
Also, this is the best Smash game, weâre never going to top it, because theyâll probably cut back the roster after this, and I only ever wanted literally everyone in the series added in one Smash game.
Anyway! If youâre somehow still reading this, thank you very much, youâre a trooper! Especially @matsutzu and @mrnerdling, who I tagged multiple times to basically force them into reading all of this. Youâre both welcome. And thank you very much for listening to me!
...Thatâs it. Thereâs no more here.
...Stop looking for after-credits shenanigans and go play Smash for yourselves.
Who is the most affectionate? Depends on the day, but Fox on average, when theyâre in front of others. Falco in private.Big spoon/Little spoon? I feel like theyâd switch depending on the day.Most common argument? Fox picks fights with Falco whenever he runs off and tries denying emotions and attachments to the team. Or otherwise, Falco fights him because he implies that.Favorite non-sexual activity? Flying!! Falco drags Fox out even beyond missions, and often tries to use just one Arwing between them. With one seat inside. Because itâs Falco, and isnât as subtle as he thinks he is.Who is most likely to carry the other? Falco would probably carry Fox more, because Fox gets beaten up more, probably. Sucks being the leader at times.Nicknames? Falco goes with âFoxie,â and maybe variations, but I donât think Fox would use any himself. I think heâd just like using Falcoâs normal name.Who worries the most? You want to think itâs Fox, but no, itâs definitely Falco. Because, honestly, Fox has the scarier enemies to confront, and does it alone half the time, so yeah.Who initiates kisses? Fox would more often. Not that Falco wouldnât, but, you know, heâs not that mushyâŚpublicly.Who wakes up first? Falco, because early bird, aaaahhh, Iâm clever.Who says I love you first? Fox usually.
Hello matsutzu & readers! By following this story, from the index here, youâre agreeing that you ship Fox with Falco above all else. Because, letâs be real, thatâs the biggest gay ship of the series.
Anyway, continue on ahead if you want some Falox romance! And enjoy!Â
[HANGAR/FALCO]
 Taking the door to the hangar, Fox stepped in, and gazed around. He glanced at the docked Landmaster, a tank that was covered with a sheet and due for upgrades. A board was across from it, usually used for blueprints and schematics, though it was currently switched off.
 Further along, toward the hangar gates, a quartet of Arwings rested. Between them, a blue-feathered bird ambled by, squinting at a computer behind them and nodding.
 âFalco!â
 Raising his head, the bird glanced up and waved to Fox.
 âYo, Fox! Come on down, letâs have a race!â
 âPass. I mean Iâm coming down, but not to race.â
 Taking a lift that lowered to the base level for the hangar, Fox walked across the hangar and to the Arwings. Falco stepped from between them and folded his arms, wearing a smirk on his face.
 âAh, why no race?â Falco rolled his eyes. âItâs not like we have anything better to do now, do we?â
 âWell, no, butââ
 âSo whatâs the problem?â He nudged Fox and beckoned him back. âCome on, Iâm fixing for a flight, and Iâm looking to whoop your butt again.â
 âItâs late,â reminded Fox, âwe donât need to tear through the night sky at blazing speeds for fun.â
 âUnder all the stars, over Corneriaâs open waters? Thatâs the kind of stuff folks find romantic.â He blinked and jerked his head back. âNot that I would, I just wanna fly, but, ah, you know what I mean.â
 âFalco Lombardi, are you getting softer these days?â Fox mockingly gasped and touched his chest. âGoodness, itâs almost like youâre interested in other things besides just proving how great you are at flying!â
 âOk, ok, you can take it easy on the insults there, Foxie,â grumbled Falco. âSheesh, I try to talk about a nice time just once, and you go to town on me for it.â
 âHa, Iâm sorry Falco. I couldnât resist.â Fox patted his friendâs shoulder. âYou never really loosen up, or open up, and itâs nice to see and hear that from you now and again.â
 âHey, Iâm plenty open!â Falco folded his arms as Fox lowered his eyes. ââŚWhen I, ah, want to be, that is.â Falco smirked and shrugged. âWhatever, Fox, you want to sit up in the Great Fox tonight, be my guest. Iâm sure you can fool around with Slippy or Peppy, right?â
 âTheyâre both busy.â Fox smirked. âYou, on the other handââ
 âOuch. Fox, itâs almost like your insults are getting as sharp as mine.â Falco rolled his eyes. âMaybe itâs better if weâre not hanging out, then.â
 âOrâŚ?â
 Fox folded his arms and waited as Falco blinked. He shifted his eyes around the room, and shrugged.
 âUhâŚyou wanna finish that thought?â
 âAnd here I thought you were getting good at opening up,â mocked Fox. âI was waiting for you to suggest something else.â
 âMe? Geez, just spit out, Fox!â
 âYou could too, you know.â
 âHuh? W-what?â
 âSuggest something else for us to do, Falco.â
 âOh. Yeah! I knew that!â Falco paused and tapped on his head. âUhâŚgimme a sec.â
 âTake your time.â Fox grinned and opened his mouth to continue, but had a wing press against his lips.
 âYeah, no, donât need that next part, thanks.â Falco sighed and tapped his foot. ââŚYou know what? We are flying tonight!â
 âAgain, Iâm not in the moodââ
 âTo race, sure youâre not. But how about you let me do the flying, and you just come along for a ride?â
 âUh, sure, I guess.â Fox shrugged. âYou know, I could just follow in another Arwing.â
 âYeah, but uh, I donât have anywhere in particular to go,â admitted Falco. âSo, itâs better to, um, just take out one ship and we wonât go far. JustâŚaround a few times in the air. Sound good?â
 âWhy do I get the feeling that you have some, I donât know, ulterior motives?â
 âMe? Nah, youâre crazy, Fox,â insisted Falco. âJust wanna get some fresh air, and Iâm kidnapping you for fun too. How about it?â
 âAhâŚwell, sure,â relented Fox. âLetâs just not stay out all night.â
 âFoxie, Iâd never!â He grinned as Fox rolled his eyes. âI promise Iâll be good tonight, honest.â
 âIf you insist.â
 Unfolding his arms, Fox followed Falco to one of the Arwings. He paused and scratched his head as Falco opened the fighterâs cockpit.
 âUhâŚFalco, the Arwings arenât exactly roomy.â
 âWhatâs wrong? You got a problem sitting on my lap?â Falco winked. âI wonât tell the others much if you enjoy it.â
 âWow, thatâs not evenâŚfine, your lapâs funeral, then.â
 Laughing, Falco climbed into the Arwing, followed by a hesitant Fox. He slid in as Falco scooted back in the seat, slowly lowering himself against his teammate, and then blushed as the bird reached around his waist for the controls.
 âOoh, Fox, you sure know how to make a move,â teased Falco. âMust have been your plan all along.â
 âWhat are you talking about? This was your idea!â
 âSure, thatâs what youâd want me to think.â
 âJust shut up and fly.â
 With another fit of snickers, Falco closed the ship and readied it for launch. The pair stared out of the hangar gate, and the Arwing rocketed off.
 Fox gazed from the window and watched the night sky whip past him, as Falco took the ship onward. He watched as it lowered toward Corneriaâs open waters, and observed the buildings in the distance.
 âIt really does look beautiful,â admitted Fox.
 âYeahâŚsure does.â
 âCan you even see that well?â Foxâs ears twitched. âI feel like Iâm in the way.â
 âWhat? No way, Iâm taller than you.â Falco chuckled. âPlus, Iâve got a perfect view, so I donât know what youâre going on about.â
 ââŚUhâŚif youâre sure.â
 âOf course.â He leaned forward against Fox. âNow hang on. Weâre gonna have some fun.â
 The Arwing rolled around as Falco had the ship flip. He brought it closer to the water, as Fox grabbed at the sides of the ship, clutching tightly against it. Spiraling around again, Falco let the wings dip against the waterâs surface, and boosted back into the air.
 âHa, see that?â Falco grinned. âNow thatâs how to really enjoy a flight!â
 âFalco, youâre insane.â
 âMaybe a little bit.â He forced the ship to climb upward. âCome on, letâs get a nice view of the sky, huh?â
 âGeez, Falco, cool it!â
 âCome on, youâre enjoying yourself, right?â Falco leaned in again. âYou liked what you saw before, didnât you?â
 âWell, yeahââ
 âThen trust me a little.â
 Sighing, Fox eased back against Falco, relenting. Blushing a bit, Falco brought the ship up further into the sky, before leveling it out. Slowing the pace, he and Fox gazed outside of the cockpit, admiring the dark clouds and studying their shapes.
 âThereâs no way to travel like flying,â claimed Falco. âThis kind of view is everything rightâŚâ
 âYeah, itâs pretty great up here.â Fox smiled. âItâs been fun, Falco.â
 âAw, youâre not bored already, are you?â
 âNo, but, we should get back soon.â
 âAh, fine, you do need your beauty sleep.â Falco brought the ship down in a nosedive. âAlthoughâŚletâs pass back this way, so we can catch one more great view.â
 Though Fox opened his mouth to protest, he slowly closed it and let Falco guide them forward. He brought the Arwing back up, and it burst from a sea of clouds, emerging near Corneria City.
 Fox gawked and gazed at the city lights, enjoying the night view of skyscrapers and small buildings alike. Falco guided them around Corneria Command, soaring past the tower and back around, zipping away from the city once more.
 âBet you hardly ever take the time to enjoy that view,â wagered Falco.
 âWell, Iâll admit that I donât get to fly around like that, andâŚnot as often as Iâd like, no,â confessed Fox.
 âThought so.â Falco nodded. âSo, how about we make this more of a regular thing? Let me take you out when youâre done with being cooped up all night, and we can just fly off, enjoy the air, and take time to relax in Corneriaâs skies.â
 âThat sounds great, Falco, butâŚI donât know.â
 âFigured youâd give me that answer.â Falco scoffed. âNever can let Fox out to relax for too long, huh?â
 âLook, itâs notââ
 âNah, I get it. Letâs get back to the Great Fox.â
 Flying the ship onward once more, Falco guided the Arwing back to the flagship. He slowed the shipâs descent as they reached the hangar, and carefully landed it inside. Once it stopped, he sighed and released the controls, opening the pilotâs seat.
 âSafe and sound,â announced Falco. âPlease watch your arms and legs as you exit the Arwing. Thank you for flying Air Falco, have a nice night.â
 âAdorable, thanks,â teased Fox, as he climbed from the cockpit. He waited on the shipâs edge, and turned back to Falco. âAre you coming?â
 âUh, yeah, in a bit.â He smirked at Fox. âLadies first, you know?â
 âSlippyâs right, you know how to ruin a good moment.â
 âKnew that twerp talked behind my back,â grumbled Falco. âWhatever, just hop down, and Iâll be out in a sec.â
 âNo you wonât, I know this act.â Fox folded his arms. âYouâre going to take off and go somewhere on your own, sulking about whatever has you in a mood right now, rather than coming out and talking to me about it instead.â
 ââŚNothing gets past our great Fox, huh?â Falco scoffed. âFine, yeah, maybe I wanted to go for a personal cruise next. Is that an issue? We donât have anything else to do tomorrow.â
 âWe donât know that.â
 âDoesnât matter, Iâd be fine.â Falco shrugged. âItâs not like anyone can doubt my flying.â
 âThatâs not the point,â argued Fox. âMy issue is that youâre running off, again, rather than just talking about whatever it is thatâs got you worked up.â
 âItâs you,â snapped Falco. âYouâre the one thatâs got me so ticked, ok?â
 âWhy?â Fox swayed his tail as he watched Falco seethe. âWhat did I do?â
 âJust leave it be, Fox.â Falco groaned and dragged his wing over his face. âYou go get some rest, Iâll go fly, and weâll be good by morning.â
 âFalco, please!â Fox slid back into the ship. âI donât like arguing with you, honest! Just tell me whatâs wrong. What did I do, why did I make you angry?â
 âLook, Iâm not really angry, or I wasnât until right now!â
 âThen what is it?â
 âYouâre not happy!â Falco through his arms in the air and flailed. âFox, I took you out for a nice ride on a great night, and you justâŚI donât know, had such a controlled reaction. It seemed like you enjoyed it, and I thought youâd let yourself go a little, but you justâŚI donât know, you never cut loose!â Falco shook his head. âYouâre so uptight, you have to stick to schedules, and you neverâŚyou never just enjoy a moment for what it is.â
 ââŚFalco, Iâm sorry.â Fox dropped his head. âI did really have a nice time. It was something that I needed and I really appreciated you taking me out.â He sighed. âBut Iâm leading a team, and I have to be able to keep up with it. Iâd love to stay out all night with you, butâŚI guess youâre right. I canât shirk on my work.â
 âFoxââ
 âLook, if you want to go flying to clear your air, you can.â Fox spun around, sliding from the Arwing. âIâm sorry that I always bring out this sour side of youâŚâ
 âAw, donât give me that. Fox.â Falco hopped up from his seat. âHey, Fox!â
 Jumping from the Arwing, Falco chased after Fox, stopping him before he left the other Arwings. He tugged him back around and the two gazed quietly at one another for a moment. Falco pulled back, and glanced away, as Fox exhaled.
 âIf you want to goââ
 âYou already talked me out of it.â
 âFine, sorry for that too.â Fox shrugged. âIf youâre sure that you can handle itââ
 âNo, no, you ruined it.â Falco flopped his wings, a few feathers flying off. âLook, I canât leave you, because now Iâm going to feel even worse after that guilt trip.â
 âNow youâre making me feel worse.â
 âBut Iâm not trying to!â Falco clasped his wings on Foxâs shoulders. âLook, Iâm sorry too, ok? I just want you to be happy too, and then I got all huffy because I thought you werenât enjoying yourself. Youâre right, you do need to be at the top of your game, no matter what.â Falco exhaled and shook his head. âIâm selfish, ok? I want to go out and have a good time when we get a minute. Thatâs justâŚthatâs me.â
 âThatâs not you at all,â countered Fox. âYou changed whatever plans you had the second I came down here. You went from going alone for a flight to taking me out for the night. Falco, thatâs literally the opposite of selfish, thatâs selfless.â
 âYeah, butâŚI donât know, I wanted to keep having a nice night with you.â Falco shrugged. âWe never get to bond that much, andâŚI donât know, Iâm kind of jealous.â
 âJealous? Of what?â
 âThe others,â admitted Falco. âBoth of them have had more history with you. Slippyâs been your buddy since you were kids, Peppyâs been in your life for pretty much the same amount of time or longer, and IâŚI donât know, I wasnât always.â Falco rubbed his beak. âI just, I donât know, I want to fly solo a lot of times, but IâŚI like flying around with you too, Fox.â He huffed and turned away. âNow we know Iâve gone soft.â
 âDefinitely.â Fox chuckled. âBut, thatâŚmeans a lot to me. Youâre a valuable member of this team, Falco, regardless of history. And you mean a lot to me.â Fox blushed and smiled. âYouâre more than just a pilot and teammate; youâve become a great friend to me. And Iâm hoping that goes beyond Star Fox.â
 âIf it does for you, and it does for me, then it will.â Falco smirked. âThis the part where we confess our feelings for each other, admit that we make each otherâs hearts throb, and all of that mushy junk?â
 ââŚI, uhâŚwell, IâŚâ
 âIâm teasing, Fox.â Falco chuckled, but stopped as Fox rubbed his shoulder. ââŚFox?â
 âWell, I doubt youâd be the one to make a first move,â determined Fox. âSo, I might as well do it.â
 âWhat are you talking about?â
 âThat mushy junk you mentioned, itâsâŚwell, I guess I do feel some of that around you, sometimes,â confessed Fox. âUmâŚmaybe more often than some of the time. Maybe a lot of times, but, itâsâŚif youâre not reallyââ
 âWhoa, whoa, back up, youâre not fooling around, are you?â
 ââŚNo.â Fox shrugged. âI donât know if thatâs, or if IâmâŚto your interests, butâŚâ
 âWow, wait, y-yeah.â Falcoâs face burned into a blush as he grinned to Fox. âYou are definitely someone that Iâm interested in Fox. And yes, in that way! IâmâŚw-well, Iâm, y-you knowâŚI play for that team?â
 âSmooth.â
 âShut it, Iâm trying to open up just for you.â
 âThen, go on.â
 âLook, IâŚok, I-I admit it, I really wanted to make swoon and go crazy from tonight,â admitted Falco. âMe snapping before and, ah, and getting so worked up, IâŚI wanted you to tell m-me that you loved our night out, that you did want to do it more often, and thatâŚthat we could beâŚâ
 âYouâre adorable when you stammer, you know?â
 âQuit teasing me, Fox.â
 âJust spit it out, then, Falco.â
 âFox, you make my heart throb, Iâve got the most ridiculous feelings for you, and I want to share all kinds of mushy junk and tender moments with you, even more nights like tonight, and I want to be yours, ok?â Falco threw his wings out. âThere, thatâs everything. You happy?â
 âYou know, I did go first.â
 âFirst is the worst, secondâs the best.â Falco smirked as Fox rolled his eyes. âSo, uh, h-how about that one, Fox?â
 âHmm. Well, I did have a nice night, and you did finally talk it out with me,â surmised Fox. âSoâŚI think you earned this next part.â
 âWhat nextâ?â
 Falco choked on his next words, as Fox pressed his lips against his beak. He froze for a moment, and then wrapped his wings against Foxâs back, moving into the kiss. They pressed into one another for a minute or two before parting, just slightly.
 ââŚSo thatâs what it is.â
 âLike it?â
 âAlmost as much as sliding your butt around on my lap,â teased Falco. âSo, how often can I get my leader back into the Arwing, huh?â
 âJust for that, not often at all,â fired back Fox.
 âWhat?! You canât be serious.â Falco pushed back into Fox, who smirked and chuckled. âDonât do that to me!â
 âCome on, you asked for it.â
 âAll I asked for was you.â
 âAnd you got me.â
 ââŚYeah, I did.â Falco beamed. âAnd you got me, too.â
 They rested in one anotherâs arms for a little while longer, teasing and flirting with each other. After a little while, though, Fox yawned, and prompted Falco to guide him back into the ship, heading in together for the night.
Hello matsutzu & readers! By following this story, from the index here, youâre agreeing that you ship Fox with Wolf, which I sadly made into something of a forced joke romance, but that makes it no less of a good Star Fox ship.
Anyway, continue on ahead if you want some Wolox romance! And enjoy!
[SIM ROOM/WOLF]
 Walking into a large room with a grid-shape scaled around him, Fox folded his arms. He nodded as it lit up.
 âNothing like blowing off some steam before bed,â he decided. âCould use the training anyway.â
 âCommencing training simulation,â called out ROBâs recorded voice. âSession number 007. Participants: Pilot 01, Fox. Loading sessionâŚâ
 Fox watched as the room transformed around him, and the Great Foxâs simulation room warped into that of a cityscape, reflecting Corneria Cityâs appearance.
 âMission start.â
 Fox pulled out a blaster and whirled around. He fired at a robotic monkey soldier, decorated with the Venomian armyâs colors. It short-circuited and collapsed, as Fox rushed onward.
 He slid through a buildingâs open window, and crouched behind a fallen table, as more enemies locked on and fired at him. Blaster fire rained against the steel table, as Fox glanced around the room. Peering up, he spotted a mirror that reflected his enemiesâ locations.
 Following it, Fox ricocheted his shots from the walls and into his opponents, defeating them. He emerged from his hiding spot and charged upstairs.
 Kicking open a door, Fox stepped onto the buildingâs roof, gazing at the taller areas around him, and then over the edge. It was only three stories high, but even still, the drop would stimulate the same feelings of a great fall.
 Twisting around, Fox aimed his blaster up, as another canine approached him. He blinked and shook his head, as the opponent trudged forward, with his own blaster drawn. He picked at the cybernetic eye patch on his face and pointed his weapon at Fox.
 âWolf,â murmured Fox. âI shouldâve known that youâd be part of this simulationâs upgrade.â
 âSimulationâŚ?â Wolf blinked. âIs that what this is?â
 âOh no, youâre not pulling that one on me,â snapped Fox, charging his blaster. âSlippy definitely did a good job updating this one, that much I can admit.â
 âFox, what theâ?â
 âItâs over, Wolf!â
Firing his charged blaster, Foxâs laser soared out, and Wolf quickly leapt away from it. He whipped his blaster forward, and fired a shot against Fox.
 Sidestepping it, Fox twisted his arm and fired his shot at Wolf, who yelped as it connected with his arm.
 âWhen did you even learn that one?!â
 âTraining lets me loosen up a bit,â announced Fox. âI can try things that normally work less in real combative situations.â
 âYou still think this isnât real?!â
 âFine, yes, itâs real enough,â relented Fox. âSlippy really outdid himself on accounting for the lines that you receive in this sim, huh?â
 âSeriously, what are youâ?â
 âNo, enough of this,â barked Fox. âItâs ending here, Wolf! Iâm taking you down and taking you in!â
 âNot likely!â
 Clutching his shoulder, Wolf darted across the roof and charged at Fox. Though Fox fired several shots, Wolfâs agility allowed him to evade each laser.
 Rushing in close, Wolf threw his hand forward and held Fox up by the throat. Fox kicked in the air, hitting Wolfâs arm, but remained unable to free himself.
 âWow, Slippy did a real good job,â commended Fox.
 âAre you kidding me right now?â Wolf shook his head. âWhat does it take?â
 âEnough of your nonsense, Wolf!â
 âHow about enough of yours, Fox?â Wolf pointed his blaster at Foxâs head. âThis ends here.â
 Struggling, Fox broke free of Wolfâs grip, as the blaster shot fired and soared into the sky. It connected with the barrier of the room, breaking through it and disrupting the simulation.
 âWait, whatâŚ?â
 âIs that normal for this crap, too?â Wolf folded his arms. âOr did I finally break through?â
 ââŚSimulation override, 101,â called Fox. âEnd simulation.â
 âTraining simulation terminated.â
 At ROBâs recording, the cityscape faded around Fox. He pushed up from the ground and gawked as Wolf set his blaster back in its holster.
 âWâŚWolf?!â Fox shook his head. âThatâs really you? What are you even doing here?â
 âTook you long enough,â snapped Wolf. âI thought youâd actually do me in thinking it wasnât a real fight.â
 âThat didnât answer the last question!â Fox raised his fists. âIf youâre here to fight me now, rest assured, Iâm more than capable ofââ
 âYeah, Iâm not here to fight,â intervened Wolf.
 ââŚWhat? Oh, come on.â Fox rolled his eyes. âFirst, no missions. Then, my training is interrupted. And now youâre telling me that you actually donât want to fight me. How much of this am I supposed to deal with?â
 âWell excuse me, Fox,â snapped Wolf. âI thought youâd actually be happy about not fighting for once.â
 âOk, fair enough, it is a nice change of pace,â admitted Fox. âBut thenâŚwhat are you doing here? Trying to steal intel for a battle against us? Swiping tech and schematics to replicate and steal our craft?â
 âNo, you dolt! âŚOk, wait, no, thatâs fair,â relented Wolf. âBut, uh, no, Iâm not here for that either.â
 âThen why else would you be here?â
 âUmâŚlisten, your father used to take me under his wing when I was a pup, kind of like his son before you,â revealed Wolf. âAndâŚIâve been thinkingâŚyou know, lately, we havenât needed to fight each other as much. The whole reason that I resented you was because youâre part of what took away Jamesâs time with me.â
 âYeah, sure, blame me for something completely out of my control,â grumbled Fox.
 âLook, it goes beyond just that!â Wolf sighed and folded his arms once again. âLetâs justâŚmaybe Iâm here toâŚtry something different.â
 âOh? And that would beâŚ?â
 âUmâŚw-wellâŚI was thinking ofâŚmaybeâŚâ Wolf swallowed hard. âOf maybe joining Star Fox, officially, after all of these years. James offered it to me a long time ago, but then he went back on it, and so Iââ
 âYeah, no, where is this coming from?â Fox shook his head. âMy longtime rival wanting to suddenly disband his own team and join mine? Thatâs definitely what youâd call a load of crap.â
 âBelieve whatever you want, but I really want to!â Wolf scowled. âI justâŚlook, after being fooled to work with Andross, Iâve realized thatâŚIâve done a lot wrong.â
 âHere we go, there it is,â mocked Fox. âYou want to avoid the bounty on your head from Corneria.â
 âIâll admit, thatâs definitely a perk,â agreed Wolf. âBut, no, thatâsâŚnot the only reason. I, uhâŚlook, I really liked your father. A lot.â
 âOk.â Fox lightly shrugged. âStill a traitor and jerk, probably murderer too.â
 âHey, thatâsâŚok, thatâs fair,â allowed Wolf. âBut I want to move forward from that. I wantâŚI want to make James proud.â
 âUh-huh.â
 âAlso, I realized a better way to stick it to him.â
 âAnd that would be?â
 âGetting in bed with his son.â
 âW-what?!â
 âBeing on your team would make James so annoyed if he were around,â reasoned Wolf. âI could completely tear his little idealisms apart because Iâm a great pilot, and working with you instead of against you would be something heâd never expect, nor anyone else, and yet, it would be the best possible solution to everything!â
 ââŚOh.â Fox blinked and shook his head again. âI donât knowââ
 âAlso, Iâve stared at you enough times to realize that Iâm pretty much attracted to you.â
 âWait, you what?!â
 âYep, you heard right,â taunted Wolf. âSo, how about it, Fox? Want to get to know this Wolf better? Want toâŚtry turning a new page for us, once and for all?â
 âThat sounds completely ridiculous and totally out-of-character,â contended Fox. âBut I kind of feel the same way. Who had this terrible idea, anyway?â
 âBoth of us.â Wolf picked up Foxâs hands. âLetâs start, here and now. Star Wolf is no more, and I, Wolf OâDonnell, hereby announce my loyalty ties to team Star Fox!â
 âWolf, thatâs a littleââ
 âAnd my loyalties to my new potential boyfriend, too.â
 âWow, ok, thatâs very over-the-top,â determined Fox.
 âYeah, probably,â admitted Wolf. âBut hey, Iâm bored and I mean it. Plus, Leonâs kind of doing his own thing right now, but if this works out for me, he wants to join too. Something about wanting to get with that annoying bird or whatever.â
 âSeriously?â
 âRight? I thought it was weird too, but I guess they could be a thing.â
 âI meant aboutâŚoh, forget it.â Fox shook his head. âFine, Wolf, you win. Youâre on the teamâŚfor now. Betray that trust, and Iâm making sure that you go directly to jail.â
 âNo chance to pass Go?â
 âThis isnât a joke.â
 âYouâre right. And the other thing?â
 âWhat otherâ?â
 Before he could finish his thoughts, Wolfâs lips, pressed into his, interrupted Fox. He paused and shuddered, but slowly lowered his guard, allowing Wolfâs arms to wrap around him, as Fox pressed back into him. They parted from their kiss after another minute, and gazed at one another.
 âSoâŚhow about more of that, Fox?â
 ââŚThat was good, Iâll admit.â
 âYou think?â
 âBut Iâll get back to you on that one.â
 âWhat?! ButâŚdonât you want more?â
 âMaybe, weâll see.â
 âButâŚbutâŚâ
 âCome on, Wolf. Weâve got a lot of ground to cover, if you really mean it.â
 Wolf dropped his head, but obliged, following Fox from the training room. They wandered through the Great Fox, as they discussed his potential future on the team. Throughout, Wolf insisted on staying as close as possible to Fox, surprisingly not uncomfortable to either of them.
