Natsume being creeped out by Misuzu pursuing Tanuma is so funny, like he wasn’t approached by two different men in the same way—if not worse. They stalked and kidnapped you and somehow you end up in this weird dynamic with them where you feel bad for them in a way that they clearly crave.

Chara design
Matoba x Natsume as Miyo and Kiyoka from My Happy Marriage! I saw @good7luck wanted to see this, so I thought I'd indulge!

The EYE
Rewatching Natsume Yuujinchou in preparation for catching up with the manga, and I want to talk about Takashi and Seiji's initial interaction...
At this point in the series, they've only met directly once, and Natsume had just been kidnapped by Matoba... all his motivations and goals are yet unclear, and Natsume just wants to make clear that if Matoba continues senselessly hurting yokai (which he was not doing in that specific instance, but Matoba did not deny it), he would personally put a stop to it.
But then. Then, Matoba knocks over the cup. And Natori just told us he doesn't know why Matoba covers his eye, implying this isn't a story Matoba readily shares, but then he's telling Natsume. Talking about the history, the hunt, the scar! And then he gets close, closer than Natori has ever gotten to Natsume willingly, and he tries showing Natsume the scar. Even Matoba calls it a 'rare opportunity'.... but why?
It's as though he took one glance at Natsume and saw kinship. Understanding. Surrounded by the love of yokai and humans, something Matoba so severely lacks, and he thought maybe, just maybe... so he extended a hand of trust, in such a bad situation, and said 'let me show you my greatest weakness', and if they hadn't been interrupted! That whole arc seemed like such a desperate attempt for Matoba to be seen by Natsume because only the two of them can see!
Maybe Nyanko-sensei was onto something. He tells Natsume not to get involved with anything even related to Matoba repeatedly, vehemently, far more than ever before. Maybe he knew... maybe he Knew.
he did Not know it was that annoying senpai in the lion 💥
Just shoujo thing 😵💫
