I like to imagine that Bkg has his feelings realization (of love towards DK) in the moment of his death. I’m not quite willing to say he fell in love in this moment since his and Dk’s relationship has been so deep, meaningful, and complicated from the beginning. I think love has always been entwined in their relationship somewhere even at their worst. But I’m obsessed with the idea of him realizing his love in time with his heart physically being stabbed through, and with how bad their relationship has been before there’s almost a sort of rebirth he goes through in loving Dk that could speak to his physical resurrection. It’s really easy to have this reading as well with how much he’s been thinking about Dk during the war and then how he’s talking to Dk in his final moments with such reverence. It feels like he goes through relationship growth without Dk even being there in the moment, which has me thinking about how he interprets their relationship. This line of thought is also reminding me of this line in the S7 OP and how it’s lined up with Bkg.
