#master togo

Been a while since I've done one of these, took a break to focus on IRL stuff and my mental health. But I'm back. Let's get going, shall we?

Last we left off, we met Aida Mingyu, Master Togo's fiance. Master Togo is determined to seek out the source of this disease, and sets out with Aida, Lilly, and a few others. Their frantic search leads them to the eastern side of the island, where they finally found the point of origin - the holy valley of Zen Daijun. They venture forth into the valley, battling hordes of Afflicted creatures and avoiding the deadly vile miasma that has appeared throughout the area. They finally find the source of their plague in the venerable Daijun Library located within the valley and proceeded to cleanse it of the foul Afflicted guarding it.

Upon examining the library, Master Togo makes a startling discovery - the guild symbol of Shiro Tagachi, the Betrayer, is etched upon the floor of the library. Togo sighs to himself, suspecting somehow, Shiro would find a way to return.

Fearing that the safety of the whole of Cantha is at stake, Master Togo decides to head to Kaineng City with Aida to warn and to seek the counsel of his half-brother, the Emperor Kisu of the Canthan Empire. He also sends a request for aid to his former Tyrian student, Brother Mhenlo, while Lilly takes another ship to Kaineng, in search of her mother, Sarah. But they arrive to find themselves too late - the plague has already started to spread throughout the densely-populated and sprawling city.

This concludes Part 8.

A while back @jorasdottir and I were playing through early Factions and stumbled across a cutscene glitch.

Turns out the cutscene engines just the regular in game one, and we triggered the final cinematic of the instance we were in too early by killing the boss before the goons.

Inside Minister Cho's estate, Lilly and Togo battled their way through the grounds, cutting down guards, servants and menagerie animals, all who had been infected with this mysterious illness.

They arrived to find Minister Cho deep within the estate, only to discover that he too, had been infected. He moaned in pain, and then fell to the ground, dead.

But, that wasn't the end of the poor minister. A low growl that sounded almost guttural alerted the party to his corpse, as it mutated into a hideous monster and attacked them.

They were forced to put down the poor minister, as Togo said a prayer over his fallen friend, asking the Envoys to escort to the gates of Everlasting Paradise. The party was then alerted to the sound of crying, as a young child had been hiding in the inner chamber. Guardsman Zui's lost son who they had been tasked to find.

Togo comforted the boy, asking him what caused him to cry. The young lad explained a dream he had. "The wind blew the leaves from the trees, and the animals in the zoo all became scared. The animals. They were . . . they were always very tame, but something in my dream made them angry. And they started hurting everyone. Then the people got angry too, and they started to hurt each other. Minister Cho . . . he was the most angry of all, and . . . and he turned into a big angry monster."

Upon confirming that the boy was indeed Zui's son, Togo offered to escort him back to his father, while tasking Lilly to meet with Ang the Ephemeral and discuss what they had found at the estate.

Upon talking with Ang, Lilly met up with Togo's fiancée, Aida Mingyu, an elementalist of a minor Kurzick house. Despite not looking like your traditional Kurzick, with her darker skin and shock of white hair, Aida is indeed a full blooded Kurzick.

The duo traveled across Shing Jea island, hoping to track down something to figure out what was causing this affliction. Their search led them to a temple on the island known as Zen Daijun, where they would meet up with Master Togo.

We're finally covering the events of Guild Wars Factions, my favorite campaign in Guild Wars 1. So, let's dive in, shall we? This part is super short, I'm afraid. I'm kinda dragging this out due to my love of Factions.

Lilly had officially graduated from Shing Jea Monastery, and Master Togo tells her he wants to introduce her and her fellow alumni to Minister Cho. It is a customary tradition for him to introduce the monastery's most promising students each year.

Upon arrival at Minister Cho's Estate, Master Togo and the students realize that something is terribly wrong. A horrible disease has apparently spread amongst the occupants of the Estate, turning them into monsters, afflicting man and beast alike. The guardsman at the gate, Zui, tasks Lilly, Togo and the other students to not only figure out what is going on, but to also rescue his son who is trapped in the estate.

Togo and his students promise to do so, and are let inside, unaware of the dangers they will face.

This concludes Part 6.

Holy moly, we're up to 5 parts now! And a new title?! Whaaaaaat?

So, quick recap from Part 4. Shiro and Sarah got married, their daughter Lilly was born, then the Envoys came in and ruined everything by taking Shiro away, and Togo showed up.

Togo arrived at Minister Wona's estate, hoping to negotiate peace talks betweens Humans and the tribes of Sensali and Angchu Tengu, hoping to put an end to the Tengu Wars.

However, Wona decided there could be no peace, stating "For the good of Cantha, you all must die."

Ordering his guards to seal all the exits and ensure no one escaped, he ordered every guest at his estate to be killed. This including Sarah Tagachi and her infant daughter, Lilly.

Wona was eventually killed by Togo's hand, and peace was forged between the two races.

Before Togo left the estate, however... He came across Sarah and Lilly. His heart softened at seeing the two, and offered them a place in Raisu Palace to stay, stating "You shouldn't be out here in alone in the cold. My brother Kisu is the emperor. He and I can keep the both of you safe."

Sarah would only go with her baby, on one condition, and Togo was all ears. She revealed the identity of Lilly's biological father, and begged the master to never tell anyone. Not even Lilly could know until the time was right, for if anyone knew Shiro the Betrayer had married and somehow sired a child, they could be put to death.

And so, Togo agreed to keep her secret, and the three of them set back off for Kaineng City, and Raisu Palace.

For 17 years, Lilly had been raised on a lie that her last name is Natsuko, and that her father died at sea before she was born.

Togo, now 65 years old, was her mentor and father figure. She trained under him at Shing Jea Monastery to become an Assassin.

He had commented to her mother once during her training: "She may look like you, but his spirit lingers within her, waiting to be released. I fear it may not be long before that happens."
