MASTEE, Borivali (W), Mumbai.
So basically we were looking for a PURE VEG restaurant when we came across this restaurant on Zomato and thought of trying it out. It had some good reviews on Zomato as well as google. Hence we thought of trying this place out. It is located at Shimpoli Road, Borivali (W)
If you are traveling to Broivali specially to visit this restaurant from any other area than Borivali then I would suggest to reach Borivali via train and then take a rickshaw from the West side to the restaurant. It is at a distance of 4-5 mins from Borivali Railway station. The restaurant is at a corner of the signal; parking can be an issue if the restaurant is packed. There are few other restaurants also. Hence it could be an issue. We didn't find any Valet or specific Parking allocated for the restaurant customers.
Reservation would always be preferred but even if you walk in you shouldn't have a problem finding a table on weekdays or during the day. Weekends and Nights preferred only by reservation. Though they have a good waiting area directly under the SKY.
It was packed on a Sunday Afternoon at this restaurant. As soon as we entered we felt a mess and an over-crowded place. Though the feel was good and being on the main road signal gave a cut from the outside world. Staff was too busy to help us with a place or someone to welcome and escort us to the table.
Ambience was pretty good, Nice lighting and decor. Quotes placed here and there and a couple of TV sets which were turned Off. Seating was wrose. They were very close to each other, so close that just a small hand in the direction of the other table and I could eat from their plate. Moving in and off the table was also difficult due to the seating being very close to each other. No covid-19 protocol from the entrance to managing the seating.
Menu is more of a continental than Indian, they have tried to be innovative with the names of the Menu but those are quite kiddish and you’ll have to probably check with them once to exactly understand what it is or make sure to read the details of the dish. Their names and details don’t match. Pricing was fair enough.
They also have a FULL BAR Available. But the cost is on a higher side. Cocktails are preferred but not worth the cost. They also have tried mixing Alcohol with some of the dishes but we have No idea how it tasted.
We had ordered The 3 Musketeers (3 types of cheese deep fried), Cheese Garlic Bread Kheechke (Kheechke is because it a footlong garlic bread and not the regular one), We wanted to ordered Indian Paneer gravy but the Indian section is closed from 4pm to 7pm, and they would then only be serving continental. We ordered a Pink Pasta with exotic veggies, it mainly had a lot of sauce. Hardly few vegetables in the dish.
Quantity for the appetizers was good, compared to the cost and plating was amazing. They really served the dish well with their in house sauces and chutney. Quality of the food was also good, the food they served was good in quality and quantity.
Pasta on the other hand was ok. Not that great a dish nor worth the cost. Would suggest another appetizer over the Continental Main course.
Service was good, though you need to call them out for even basics and remind them about the food and request them to take the order a couple of times. But they serve the dish well and pretty fast.
No special offers as on the weekends neither could say if anything or anyone was extraordinary. Just a regular place, If you are finding no other place for a PURE VEG restaurant and are adamant to eat Veg or if you are a PURE Vegetarian and in the time frame of the restaurant serving all the dishes you can visit the place.
