UPDATED INFO REGARDING #JUNKTERRORBILL
i know the riots in america are happening and they are important but i'd also like to ask for some help for my own country, the Philippines.
the government is wanting to pass a bill known as the anti-terror bill and what it basically does is snuff out any form of activism in my country. any criticism against the government will be taken as a conspiracy against it and will cause people to go to jail or worse, die. we cannot protest or riot here. the government has done such a poor job handling covid-19 that our curve has never flattened and the risk for infection is very high.
UPDATE: it has passed it's final hearing and is very close to being passed as law. people are coming out to protest even though covid cases are STILL increasing because we cannot wait for our govt to do the right thing anymore. they're considering getting attack helicopters from turkey, they don't care about the people in the midst of a pandemic. they've been killing our indigenous people and they're gonna make things worse if we let them silence our voice. please help us. i am begging you.
here is a more comprehensive guide to understanding what the bill will do: https://twitter.com/REMLOUIES/status/1266608100867371008?s=19 https://twitter.com/thaliaaaV/status/1266629906835767296?s=20
UPDATE: this is a thread that talks slightly more indepth about WHAT the government can and WILL do: https://twitter.com/_fayelle/status/1268131528950734848
UPDATE: here's a carrd with more info, updates on the situation, links to donations and more, please look at it: https://junkterrorbill.carrd.co
this carrd has more info regarding OTHER protests within the Philippines and has links to donation drives, please go look at it as well: https://parasapinas.carrd.co/
i am begging and asking you to help by doing email protests and by signing the petition linked down below. https://docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1cCNY4gKW3LNdb8oQ3hRCYkgOdNoiZK6KScjl9srM8W4/mobilebasic this gdoc provides templates to copy pasts to two government related emails as well as sites you can use to send it w/o putting yourself at risk.
UPDATE: you can still sign the petition, but please do the email protest as well. It's linked above, everything you need is in the gdoc and it doesn't take any longer to do that than it is to sign a petition.
https://www.change.org/p/junk-the-anti-terrorism-bill-and-uphold-human-rights this is the petition to junk the bill. please sign it. it doesn't take long and you don't have to donate.
i hope that you are all staying safe and i thank you from the bottom of my heart if you have decided to help.
please help us keep our voice and our rights.
It’s official. I hate this country. I hate this government. Fuck everything this motherfucking government has done for the people, if it did any.
To rush the Anti-Terror Bill, a bill that literally takes our freedom of speech, in the middle of a pandemic speaks volumes. All they want to do is silence their critics and live under the illusion that they are competent.
To my fellow Filipinos, we have been let down again. But are we surprised? All we can do now is look after one another. We have been suffering for so long under this rule of a madman.
If you still support this tyrannical government, then you are part of the problem. Please wake up and think of your fellowmen.
This is a wake-up call for everyone of us to exercise our right to vote for good leaders to heal this ailing country. Now is the time to stand up and fight for the right thing, and we will not stop.
Had to jump back on here real quick to say #junkterrorbill
Speaking out does not make a terrorist. Doing harmful acts with the intent to bring down the nation is terrorism (for me anyway). We speak out not to bring the nation down. We speak out because we want transparency and proper action. We speak out to call you out on what's wrong and against what the people live for. We speak out because we care. We speak out because we want the best for the people of the nation. We speak out because people in power doesn't want to listen to the masses. We speak out to let our voices be heard.
We speak out to make a difference.
I made this look with the colors of the country's flag on my eyes. To symbolize unity in a time where it isn't the best thing to be with each other in a group protesting. But the inaction left my friends and fellow activist to come together as a group because individual efforts online aren't working anymore. I live in a household of parents who are supporters of a mass murderer and human rights violator so I am unable to join my friends in protest. I am calling out our President for being inhumane towards every aspect of his leadership. Hopeful as I was at the start of his term, shamefully I admit, the blind close mindedness is truly enraging. .
Let us each do our part to call out the wrongs and loopholes in the government's actions and the country's laws. Let us not let the harmful Anti-Terrorism Bill be put in place. I am protesting from home using my craft. Together we stand.
Hello!
Andito ako at muling nagbabalik. Ilang buwan din akong namahinga sa paggamit ng Tumblr. At ibang social media accounts.
At ayaw kong sumabog.
Kamusta kayo? Sana okay pa rin kayo.

There is so much happening in the world & in our nation right now and it is way too overwhelming. It is outrageous. I really want to break my silence regarding these social issues, but I don't have the confidence to do so because I feel like I'm not really educated about these kinds of matter. I am mad and horrified. I am mad that this is happening, I am horrified thinking about what will be the future of the next generation. I don't want to stay mute. I care and I am affected. I know I wasn't vocal but I have been doing things I can do to help. And it sucks, and I hate myself for being such a coward. But now, it's time for me take a step... I don't want to be regretting this years from now and even tomorrow that I didnt do what I have to do today. So everyone, who has been struggling to speak up, you can do ways in private to help, you can donate, sign petitions and educate yourself. But also try to push yourself to stand for what is right and fight especially in times like these when it is needed and when we still have it. I don't want to be afraid anymore.
Stand up to injustice! Continue to be vigilant but do not let yourself be silenced. Stay safe in these trying times.
I don’t have much followers here but I‘d like to share the crucial situation happening here in the Philippines.
Amidst the pandemic, the national government has put forward the “Anti-Terrorism Bill” instead of prioritizing the health of the Filipino people.
Basically it’s their way of taking away our rights of speak up in social media. With this bill passed into law, any sort of activism in social media can be considered as terrorism by the government.
This bill is unnecessary especially in in these challenging times. Please help us spread awareness about this situation. Share this, sign petitions, email our government.
