If you aren’t aware of what’s going on today in the Philippine shit storm, trolls all over Facebook have been creating dummy accounts of students and alumni of universities, journalists, and activists, or anyone who has voiced out protest against the Anti-Terror Bill. These dummy accounts have no profile picture and no content on their profile, and some have messaged the person they’ve made an account of and sent insults and threats to them. 

It is also likely that once the Anti-Terror Bill is passed, these accounts will start posting malicious content, and as the bill will make it so that any form of negative content against the government can be labelled as a terrorist attack, point the blame to those they’ve impersonated.

I, myself, was also victim to this. My friends and I have reported the dummy account, but Facebook will not be removing any of these dummy accounts because they don’t go against their “community standards.” So, fuck you, Facebook.

3. EMAIL PROTESTS. this is the main thing that is proven to be most effective. i prefer doing this over the petition because petitions have a lower chance of working. what you can do is email our government anoymously about junking the terror bill and the instructions and templates for the email are all here.

173 people agreed that the democratic and constitutional rights to dissent of the filipino people must be absolved. 173 wanted to silence the voice of the people.

Instead on focusing on mass testing in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic, President Duterte is instead hasting to pass a bill that violates some of our most basic rights to free speech, and gives the police more opportunities to abuse their power. It is nothing but a desperate attempt at silencing those who are smart enough to use their voices to speak against his actions.

Spreading this news and getting as much people talking as possible can be one of the only ways to catch the government's attention right now.

As a citizen of this country, I might be putting myself at risk for posting this, given that I will be old enough to be jailed in a few months. But as a Filipina, I am begging for your help. With the support from international and non-Filipino voices, you could be a huge help to the cause. Sign the petitions or participate in email protests, or at the very least, reblog this and get as many people talking as possible.
