BASSCAMP RETURNS 2016 “日本再上陸復活祭”

Artist: XLII (XXX$$$ | Civil Music | Raid System) XLII (pronounced slee) is a respected figure on Tokyo’s electronic underground. Pushing the latest sounds, playing the biggest clubs and releasing genre bending records via his celebrated ‘Raid System’ label / collective that he runs with Broken Haze has given him a cult status and avid Japanese fan-base. In the days immediately after the 2011 earthquake / tsunami disaster “Nihon Kizuna” was born. A compilation XLII has curated alongside Laurent Fintoni, DJ Audace and Broken Haze that featured over 50 tracks from labels like Ninja Tune, Planet Mu, Civil Music, Hyperdub and more which topped the iTunes charts and raised in excess of $40,000 for the Japanese Red Cross Earthquake relief efforts in Northern Japan.In 2012 XLII was signed to one of London's top labels Civil Music, joining the roster alongside artists like Om Unit, Starkey, Reso, Ital Tek and Pixelord. His first EP 'Neon High' with Civil Music, was a huge hit and has earned him recognition as an intricately futuristic, energetic and versatile musician. The same year he has co-produced DJ Kentaro's second album "Contrast" and has taken to remix duties on the album's first single "Step In" which featured Foreign Beggars. He has also made official remixes for people like Pixelord, Knight Riderz and featured on releases from labels like Ninja Tune, Seclusiasis, Civil Music and IDT.No stranger to European exposure, there have been many opportunities to experience XLII’s distinct sound. For the last few years he has toured Europe regularly playing numerous shows and festivals in UK, France, Germany, Ukraine, Netherlands and other countries, sharing the stage with people like Redlight, Om Unit, Starkey, Kutmah, Take, Funkystepz and more.He was invited to appear live on BBC Radio (UK), NTS (UK), Radio Campus (France), BLN.fm (Germany), MTV Ukraine, Block.fm (Japan) etc. Copious amounts of released & forthcoming material has been aired across main radio stations in dozens of countries and picked support & plays from Tom Ravenscroft on BBC6Music, Ministry of Sound, Redbull Radio, Rinse FM, 1xtra, Kutmah, Chrissy Murderbot, Toddla T, Mad Decent, Om Unit and Starkey to name just a few. In Japan XLII has appeared on Dommune (Japanese Boiler Room) numerous times, has toured Japan with people like DJ Kentaro, Foreign Beggars, Terror Danjah, Mz Bratt, Branko (Buraka Som Sistema), Tokimonsta and appeared regularly in DJ Kentaro's Basscamp festival in Ageha, Outlook Japan, Kaikoo Festival and has shared shared the stage with people like DJ Krush, Goth Trad, Dexpistols, Hifana, Kireek (5x DMC World Champs), Mighty Crown, Red Spider, DJ Baku and countless more. In 2013 XLII has united with one of Japan's top female DJs DJ SARASA to create their new duo / super group XXX$$$. Things kicked off with a bang with their first offer being an official remix for Noisia & Foreign Beggars' new super project I AM LEGION (Sep 2013) featured on the official album and they have just completed a Japan tour.XLII's stage performances are as intricate and as hyper edited as his music. Never having been a "DJ" in a classic sense, his sets are an ultra smooth, adventurous, but at the same time blissfully coherent and extremely danceable collage of unique music, patterns, sound effects and vocal adlibs. Like a roller coaster that will twist and turn, but will never derail.

Artist: MASIA ONE Masia One has rocked audiences around the globe building her reputation as a international soul rebel. The release of Bootleg Culture, produced by Che Pope (G.O.O.D. Music, Kanye West), has Masia touring worldwide in 2013 including Jamaica, USA, Canada, Germany, Sweden, Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines. Her complex Hiphop flows switch effortlessly to Dancehall chanting, as showcased in her international underground hit Warriors Tongue. This artist is unapologetic about her unique style and celebrates her cultural mashup, expressing herself beyond the music through visual art, fashion design and through her brand consultation company MERDEKA. She is strongly committed to arts education and has actively toured high schools across Canada reaching advocating Girls Rights, Anti Bullying and HIV / AIDS education.
