So Love in Exile is over. It’s sad, but it’s true. Some of you may be wondering, ‘what happens to this blog now that LIE is over?’ (Some of you may not be wondering at all. That’s also ok.)  Well, before everybody unfollows the blog assuming it will be dead, I want to let everyone know that I intend to keep this blog as my Yuri on Ice fanfiction blog for my future projects. And also probably just for reposting stuff about YOI from time to time. 

It seems silly to start ANOTHER blog when this one is already here and have people following it who are a) interested in YOI fanfiction and b) seem to like my writing. 

I may eventually change the name of the blog since it will no longer specifically be dedicated to Love in Exile, but it will always start with MartyMuses... so hopefully no one will be shocked and confused. :p

I haven’t come across many historical au’s in this fandom, let alone one as good as this one. This fic takes the cake as far as finding the balance between authentic characterization, captivating historical elements, and steamy romance. I believe I remember reading in the author’s notes that the author is indeed a history major? So cool. I really appreciated the very attention to detail and brilliant plot. 

Once a well know ballet dancer in St. Petersburg, Victor Nikiforov finds himself exiled to Sakhalin Island as a political convict in 1881. As a man sentenced to katorga he will never return to European Russia or his life on the stage. Known as the "Edge of the World," his life on Sakhalin could not be further from the life he once knew. Strange circumstances lead his path to cross that of a young Japanese man, one of the very few still living on the island. Katsuki Yuuri leads a life of exile of a different kind, one that is largely self-imposed. Drawn to each other, despite their differences, something slowly begins to grow between them. When a narrowly avoided tragedy leaves them stranded together for a long, cold Sakhalin winter, they are challenged to face what their relationship really means, and what future it could possibly have.
