Celebrating beach vow renewals. Out of season the beach is empty. It is just before sunset. A couple arrive on the beach to be met by a celebrant with a folder. She beams at the celebrant with a conspiratorial smile, this ceremony has been weeks in the planning and her husband just found out an hour ago. The couple had often talked about renewing their vows, she knew that it was something important to him, but they'd never gotten around to organising it. The two women hug and the celebrant gently positions the couple as she begins leading them through the ceremony. There is laughter. There are happy tears. The couple only have eyes for each other. As they reaffirm their vows their deep connection, love and respect for each other is obvious. As the couple exchange a kiss to seal their renewed promises to each other, a passer by shouts, "Vivan los novios!" "Long live the bride and groom!" I couldn't have put it better myself.
