Noelene Rickards at Cheryl and Brian’s wedding 💜🌟💍
.
.
At last, Noelene had made it to the wedding. She kissed Rob’s cheek. “Did I miss the speeches?” She asked her husband. “We’ve just finished,” Rob replied, but the dance had not yet taken place. They still had some time together.
“What a great little shot that would be. Four little conspirators together.” Rob, Noelene, Dale and Kay turned towards the voice. Lindsay waltzed over towards them, cake in hand. “Yeah, I know all about your little trips to the CEO’s office. Dale and Rob, what a team you are.”
Dale told Rob to ignore Lindsay. “Ignore the bloke that gave you all your careers. Don’t worry about him. You just go and stab him in the back,” Lindsay said, in relation to himself. “Well, there’s no backstabbing, mate,” Rob stated. “Isn’t there?” Lindsay queried. “No, no. I’d say it to your face,” Rob replied frankly.
“There’s a great irony about you, Rob Rickards, coz you actually live your life like you played your footy. You are an artless, witless, gutless pr*ck,” Lindsay told him. Rob didn’t waste time in his retort. “Well, you’re a sh*t boss and a sh*t bloke. You treated my wife terribly for years, you never gave her half the respect she deserved, and those quotes you gave away about Helen were bloody disgraceful!”
“Well, yeah, maybe I did give some quotes, and maybe I gave them a lot more,” Lindsay confessed. “Maybe I gave them the whole bloody story.” “Well that is an absolute dog act,” Rob stated emphatically, and Lindsay howled in response. “Why are you defending Helen Norville?” He laughed. “I mean, I understand why you’re sticking up for… well, you… you’re married to Yoko Ono there,” Lindsay pointed to a quietly furious Noelene. “But, Helen?”
Rob stepped in towards Lindsay. “Say one more word about my wife, one more word and I’ll deck you, mate.” He seethed. If it weren’t for Brian’s call for Dale to announce the first dance, Rob was convinced he would have.
Eyeing Lindsay down, he knew he had to take an even larger stand, and draw a harder line. Who would he be if he didn’t?

Tim Ahern at Cheryl and Brian’s wedding 💜🌟💍
.
.
At Cheryl’s request, Dale and Kay made their way over to spend time with Lee and Tim.
“Hi!” Tim greeted them. “Uh Lee, you remember Dale?”
“Yes,” Dale replied, shaking hands with the dapper reporter.
“Hi,” Lee replied, shyly, turning towards Kay. Dale got the hint.
“This is Kay Walters,” he introduced her. “Umm, Lee is an extraordinary journalist,” he explained to Kay. “You might have seen his footage from Tiananmen Square.”
“Yes, I did, and it looked terrifying,” Kay acknowledged, and it indeed was.
“Can I get anyone a drink?” Dale offered, and Lee said “yes.”
“I’ll come with you,” Tim replied, turning to Lee. “I’ll be right back.
Leaving their partners to chat, Tim kept a step behind Dale at the drinks table. They accepted their drinks from Cheryl’s dad, thanking him, and Dale gave his a good swig.
“Hey, umm…” Tim whispered. “I’m starting to think this might be a bit of a mistake, bringing Lee.”
“Well, it’s brave,” Dale shared, downing another gulp, and Tim glanced down.
“Is it too brave?” Tim asked Dale.
Dale paused for a moment, considering his response.
“No.” He replied, and before they could say anything else, Brian had brought his family over to Dale, and everyone was keen to make and keep good impressions.
Memories for a happy couple to look back upon! 💖🌟💍

So much of Cheryl and Brian’s wedding felt incredibly authentic and true to life, especially the footage of the wedding included in the show.
When Maria Angelico spoke to Lola Berry on Berry’s ‘Fearlessly Failing With Lola Berry’ podcast, Berry stated that she loved the way everything was filmed. “I was born in ‘85, and so I can only imagine from watching my mum and dad’s, like, wedding tapes and stuff like that. I’m like, ‘this is exactly how I would have acted.’”
Maria shared some of the behind the scenes magic. “Well, they made for the promo, the ABC, they got this camera operator using an original old camera. It’s online, you can see it on Instagram, and he made, like, a home video, and it looks like a real wedding, it looks so real.”
To the more unaware viewers and followers of the ABC social media pages, they truly believed it was real, as Maria further explained. “And people, like, were confused. They were like, ‘where are they now?’ [in relation to Cheryl and Brian], and I’m like, ‘it was only last year, like it wasn’t like, thirty years ago.’” “How good,” Berry replied. “Yeah, it was great. It was so cool,” Maria agreed.
I think we all agree with Maria and Lola Berry too. Incorporating footage on a real vintage camera did give the wedding a beautiful element of realism, to the point where some viewers truly thought it was really good wedding footage filmed over thirty years ago. The footage is mostly seen in the aisle montage, where more modern footage is splice together with the vintage footage. I especially love the looks of awe and joy on Brian and Ross’ faces on the vintage camera, and the absolute crystal clear joy and radiance from Cheryl on the modern camera. Evelyn Walters was also smirking, but for completely different reasons!
This style of footage is seen later on as Dale meets Brian’s brothers and father, and they pose for a photo together, all three of the Mathers brothers doing their comedy Dale impressions. Bonus footage also shows Cheryl herself, as well as Rob, Evelyn and a few other wedding guests sitting at their tables. Looking at Evelyn, it appears she would rather be anywhere else! 😉
Cheryl and Brian’s wedding is in full swing here at News At Six 1986, and there is much more fun to come! 💖🌟💍
