My problem with the Tom Holland Aunt May isn't that she was beautiful. Aunt May is canonically beautiful, spry and with it. The problem is that they made her look conventional in such way that she can pass for a 30 year old. And that is NOT what Aunt May is. She is unique and unconventional and still a total silver fox.
Aunt May can look 50 to 60 and STILL be a vixen.
We say a woman can be beautiful at any age, but we still pass off this subtle standard that we expect a beautiful woman at age to look 20 and 30 her whole life without gray hair, without wrinkles and without looking she has had life experience.
And that is my problem with how THIS Aunt May is designed to look. Her personality is lovely, but out of all the beautiful women in fiction, she specifically rubs me the wrong way. And usually, I'm not the type of woman to be bothered by a fictional female character's beauty. In fact, I usually defend it, but in this case... it looks unusual and kind of unrealistic.
And before you tell me a 50 to 60 year old woman can look this way, very rarely do they look THIS firm and youthful naturally. She looks way too young. Or at the very least... NOT like Aunt May because like all the Parkers, she is not conventional looking yet is still attractive. Plus... what's wrong with having gray hair and wrinkles? Nothing. They happen to everyone and they don't make you ugly.
At least, that's what I think.
