THE CORPORATION
I finally caught up with this majorly acclaimed documentary after all these years and it's certainly an extremely important and scathing takedown of the corporate world. It's an engaging history lesson that does it's job of firing you up.
Is it just me though or is this movie kind of amateurishly made? It frustrates me to no end when documentary filmmakers decide that they don't need to put any thought whatsoever into the look or feel of their films. You're still making a movie - it's a visual medium for a reason. That's not to say I need heavy doses of style to keep me interested, but if you can't even figure out how to compose talking head interviews in a halfway decent manner, why even bother making a film? Just write a book or give a lecture or something.
See it for the content at least. But I can't say that the two directors behind this, Mark Achbar and Jennifer Abbott, are great filmmakers or anything.
