– this is a really… i don’t know how to describe this anime? I LOVE IT! i’m gonna give it a solid 8. maybe an 8.5. the animation is stunning – fight scenes, character designs, backgrounds, facial expressions, etc. YES BEAUTIFUL GIVE IT TO ME. i want to cosplay as ALL OF THEM (except for mori bc he can fuck himself RIGHT OFF A CLIFF). the storyline is pretty cool too and the characters are so complex and unique! it doesn’t cause a lot of pain though until “the dark era” part, which is the first four episodes of what hulu calls season 2 (so episodes 13-17???), which are actually flashbacks.

again – I LOVE THIS ANIME. I LOVE (almost) EVERYONE IN IT. even akutagawa who i make fun of on a daily basis and (most of) the guild because they’re fun characters.

BUUUUT there are some things that i think people should know about before getting into it. i would say this anime could be triggering. the main character (atsushi, my son) deals with some serious PTSD and extreme low self-esteem issues. one of the characters (dazai) is shown to be suicidal and it’s played off for laughs at first. like he’s constantly attempting it and talks about it but always fails or gets saved. and you’re like, “i love this character SO MUCH, but damn suicide isn’t funny…” and then you get to “the dark era” episodes and you’re like, “HOLY SHIT IT ISN’T FUNNY AND EVERYTHING HURTS!!!!!” and you fall in love with oda who is honest to god a beautiful soul and deserves INFINITELY better.
