Less than an hour northwest of Cuenca, the rugged landscapes of the Parque Nacional Cajas are pristine. The 28,000 hectares (69,200 acres) of the park, ranging 3,160-4,450 meters (10,370 - 14,600 ft) in altitude, are reminiscent of the Scottish highlands, with rocky green mountains interspersed with crystalline lakes and streams. Most of the vast landscapes are covered in wildflower-strewn páramo, with some of the only remaining polylepis trees in the country. In stark contrast to the city, the only sounds are running water, the calls of birds, and the wind. Visitors stand a good chance of seeing wild horses and the llamas that were reintroduced to the park in the late 1990s. Other mammals in the park include rabbits, mountain wolves, deer, and pumas. Among the 157 bird species are condors, parrots, Andean toucans, tanagers, and hummingbirds... 😉 #TravelInfo #TravelTips . #Throwback #March2015 #Travel #Vacation #StudyTrip #Wanderlust #GoExplore #WonderfulPlaces #InstaTravel #Landscape #LandscapeArchitecture #Nature #Forest #Paramo #Highlands #ParqueNacionalCajas #ElCajasNationalPark #Cuenca #Azuay #Ecuador #NorthwesternSouthAmerica #SouthAmerica (at Cajas National Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/COLQmB7nyi-/?igshid=bmsrs55tcpd1

El Cajas or Cajas National Park is 30 km outside of Cuenca and the bus ride takes a half-hour. You will need to get to the bus terminal and take the bus bound for Guayaquil via Cajas. Please note that not all the buses to Guayaquil will stop at Cajas National Park so be sure to ask around. You don’t need to purchase a ticket in advance, just pay $0.1 platform fee to exit the station and pay $2 on the bus. The ride to Cajas is beautiful. As the bus travels around the country-side, you will feel the elevation increase and see the Andes mountain range, green pasture fields, and cows eating grass along the way... 😉 #TravelInfo #TravelTips #Throwback #March2015 #Travel #Study #Trip #Wanderlust #GoExplore #WonderfulPlaces #InstaTravel #Landscape #Nature #Paramo #Lake #Highlands #Mountain #UNESCOWorldHeritage #UNESCO #Andes #ElCajas #CajasNationalPark #Cuenca #Azuay #Ecuador #NorthwesternSouthAmerica #SouthAmerica (at Cajas National Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/B6vhF0AHtIt/?igshid=1r18588rdphan
Deleg in the region of Cañar is located 21km in the Northeast of Cuenca. If you are travelling to Cuenca, you might wanna do a short / day trip to Deleg. The town is pretty small and charming with most of the shop lots are made from wood and you will also fall in love with the nature setting there. The only problem if you're there is the language. In Cuenca you may easily survive with English language but in Deleg you may find it will be a bit struggle. For the muslim travellers, kindly be informed, there's no halal restaurants there, so you need to bring you own foods ya... 😉 #TravelInfo #TravelTips #Throwback #March2015 #Travel #Study #Trip #Wanderlust #GoExplore #WonderfulPlaces #InstaTravel #Landscape #Nature #Forest #Highlands #Mountain #Hill #Perish #Deleg #Canar #Ecuador #NorthwesternSouthAmerica #SouthAmerica (at Déleg, Canar, Ecuador) https://www.instagram.com/p/B6p-0rxHacn/?igshid=10g5smhej4vbn
