This week for Workshop Wednesday, we wanted to feature the sad news of a marble yard in Venice that was established in 1896. The Antico Laboratorio Marmi Artistici is likely going to be replaced with a hotel or possibly tourist shopping center. As a business of a similar field, we wanted to express our remorse for the atelier and say that we agree with the local Venetian schoolchildren who asked in 2012, “Do you think that’s progress? For modern life to overthrow the historic?” (Feb. 2015).
