Mantellisaurus
Mantellisaurus was originally thought to be a species within the genus Iguanodon, but has since been reclassified. It is smaller and more lightly built than Iguanodon, at about 6 m in length, and weighing around 750 kg. Typical of iguanodontids, Mantellisaurus was facultatively bipedal, meaning it could locomote on all fours, or choose to walk on its hind legs.

Dinovember day 2. This time it’s Mantellisaurus!
A random selection of dinosaurs I felt like drawing, Gnathovorax, Murusraptor, Mantellisaurus, Aardonyx, Huayangosaurus and Yamaceratops. Also images of Murusraptor, Mantellisaurus and Aardonyx on their own.
Mantellisaurus is another poor Iguanodontian who was previously lumped into the Iguanodon species, like so many others. Misidentified for more than eighty years, Mantellisaurus was reassigned from Iguanodon atherfieldensis to Mantellisaurus atherfieldensis in 2007-2008. It is smaller than Iguanodon bernissartensis, with front legs that are shorter, about half the length of the hind legs.
