You know what gives me childhood nostalgia?
The fact my 2.5 year old is currently wearing one of my old 2001 Tweenies tour t shirts my parents kept, while cuddling my old fizz teddy watching the Tweenies with the biggest smile on her face. Thinking about early morning cuddles…
Waking up to my little one’s quiet voice calling out to me, and opening my eyes to see them standing by my bed with their favorite stuffie, still rubbing at their sleepy eyes.
“What are you doing up my little love? It’s too early to start the day.”
Pulling back the covers to make room for them, and quickly finding my arms full of a very sleepy baby.
“Get some more rest, Mama will still be here when you wake up.”
Humming softly and rubbing their back as they drift back to sleep in the quiet of the early morning…

It’s so cold out, I wanna snuggle with a baby.
I wanna give them a nice warm bubble bath so that they can warm up from being outside, and then bundle them up in cozy jammies and one of my sweatshirts.
And then I can scoop them up and take them to the kitchen to sit on the counter while I make hot chocolate for both of us. I’ll pretend not to notice them sneaking marshmallows from the bag, because they seem so happy and I can’t bear to see that smile disappear.
We’ll snuggle up in my bed and I’ll read the story books from my childhood, showing them my favorite parts of the illustrations and letting them choose their own.
And then I’ll hold them as close as I can when they start to get sleepy, so that they know they have safe arms to sleep in and sing them a lullaby as they peacefully drift off…
Sweetheart is everything okay? I heard a loud crash a couple seconds ago and- Oh! Did you spill something baby? Are you alright?
Oh honey it’s okay. You’re not in trouble, why are you crying? Are you hurt at all? No? Alright come to Mama.
It’s alright little one, I’ve got you. You can stay here in my lap as long as you need okay? Mama’s not mad at you I promise. It was just an accident, plain and simple.
Can you stay here while Mama cleans it up? No baby, it’s Mama’s job okay? You don’t need to feel guilty sweetheart. Here, why don’t you come hold the dustpan for me. Just like that! Thank you honey, you’re such a good little helper.
All done! See? It’s no big deal! No, there’s no punishment angel. Did you do it on purpose? No? Than why would you be in trouble? Mama will never, ever get mad at you because of an accident.

You know what concept I LOVE that I never see anyone talking about? Contact napping. (If you don’t know what that is, it’s when you hold a child while they nap!)
Like just picturing getting to hold my little one while they sleep in my arms, knowing that they’re safe and comfy and secure. And then that moment when they wake up and see that they’re still in their mama’s arms? UGH It’s so cute!!! Idk I just think its such a perfect way to show a little one how much I care, by guarding them and loving them even in their sleep.
