Alec was done with everyone’s crap at the institute today,and he just couldn’t wait to recap to his boyfriend about it, but decidedagainst that decision, knowing Magnus would worry.

He had a good start to his day, I mean, who didn’t lovemorning sex right? Especially when it’s with Magnus bane. So, this made him goto work with a bright smile and a positive attitude to the day, Izzy making afew jokes about his limping, but that was that.

He went to his office as usual, and as if the day couldn’tget any better, his mother, Maryse, came to surprise him as she had been toIdris with her head wrapped in work for a while. She greeted him with a hug anda generous kiss on the cheek, “Hello, darling. How are you?”

Alec returned the hug and grinned, “I’m doing well, how areyou?” He replied and made his way over to his office chair. He leaned in it,put his hands on his lap while Maryse sat on the edge of the table with awarming smile.

“Great, there will be an inspection on the institute today.Word got around fast that you’re taking over, people are glad! Expect them tobe here in about half an hour,” She opened her mouth to speak again but thevibration of her phone interrupted her, then giving Alec an apologetic smileand leaving the office, blowing a kiss on her way out.

He sighed and took a stack of paperwork from under his desk,getting stuck in it almost immediately. He really did love days like this, dayswhere he felt so good about himself and so happy that he didn’t mind doingeveryone else’s work. He played with a pen through his thumbs and sighed,knowing he had to focus, because despite the good mood, he had a lot to getthrough today.

Time seemed to be going by quickly, completely loosing trackof it. He had replied to a few texts from Magnus in the meantime, apparently hewas being ordered to make portals to track a demon, and Izzy brought him in asnack which he also appreciated. She stayed to talk for a while before gettinginterrupted by a knock at the office door.

“Alec Lightwood?” Spoke the woman who was holding hands witha boy that looked a bit younger than Max. He was hid behind her slightly whilethe woman stepped into the office.

Izzy politely left the room, and Alec looked up, “That isme, how can I help you?”

“Nice to meet you,” She smiled and Alec got up from theoffice chair and shook her hand, “Clave orders, of course. I’m here to take alook around the New York Institute,”

“Yeah, please go ahead.” Alec released from the woman’s gripand sat back in his office chair and took the pen into his grip, “Anythingelse?” He questioned when the woman didn’t seem to have left after a fewminutes.

“Yes! Sorry, could he stay in here? No one was able to lookafter him back in Idris, he got himself caught up with a few demons the otherweekend, so he had to come with me. Couldn’t trust him alone,”

Alec looked down at the young Shadowhunter who was playingwith lose cotton on what he assumed was his mother’s jacket. He smiled,reminding himself of when Max was that troublesome, “Of course, there’s a sofathere, not a problem.”

She walked over to the leather couch and made himcomfortable, whispering some reassurance to him before Alec, again, got interrupted. This time, fromRaj.

“Yes?”

“We need your Warlock boyfriend’stracking skills, there has been a few attacks on Mundanes and we can’t pinpoint the exact location. Warlock tracking is stronger.”

“So he does come in handy, doesn’t he Raj?” Alec scoffed, regarding comments he had made in the past.When he didn’t reply, Alec smirked and nodded, “He’s busy, but I will drop hima text to come to the institute when he’s finished. I’ll let you know when,”

Alec didn’t watch him leave, but he did what he said hewould and pulled his phone out of his pockets and clicked on Magnus’s contact,smiling at the red heart that was next to it.

“Boyfriend?” Spatthe woman, now walking back over to her son.

Alec raised both of his eyebrows, his full attention was nowon the woman. “Yes … Magnus Bane. High Warlock of –“

“You’re the head of this institute and in a relationshipwith a man?”

Well, this was new. Someone finally disagreed with thegender of Magnus, it was usually, ‘A down worlder’? Not, ‘A man?’

She didn’t give Alec a time to reply before she opened hermouth again, “My, what happened to tradition? Come on, Tyler, let’s findsomewhere else for you to stay.”

Alec stood up again, “Sorry, you’re not letting your sonstay here because I’m in a relationship with a man?”

The woman didn’t say anything, she just put her arm aroundher son and led him out of Alec’s office, leaving him there completelydumbfounded.

So yeah, that was Alec’s day.

He opened the heavy loft door to his and Magnus’s apartment,stepped inside, and sped walked straight to the bathroom, not even checking forthe Warlock which was weird, he always checked for Magnus’s presence. He turnedon the tap and ran his hands across his face with a splash of cold water, thentook his black jacket off and hung it on a coat rack outside the door.

He removed his shirt as it had gotten soaking wet from thewater dripping from his chin then proceeded to throw it into a laundry basket.He sighed and ran a hand through his locks, then heard a knock at the door,only to see Magnus in the doorway, his shirt also off and a pair of loosejoggers hanging from his waist. Only Alec got to see him like this. “Everythingokay, Alexander?”

“Uh, yeah! Long day at the institute, s’all,”

Magnus let out a cute huff and walked slowly over to hisboyfriend, wrapping an arm around his waist. The mirror was in front of them,and Magnus looked at Alec through it and noticed his tense posture. “Okay, nowthe truth?”

Alec gulped and turned to Magnus, pecking him on the lips.“I’m fine, no need to worry about me.”

Before Magnus could protest, Alec walked out of the door andturned to their bedroom, stripping from his tight work trousers, leaving him injust his briefs and slipping into the silk sheets of the bed. He pulled hisphone off from charge from the bedside table and played some random, patheticgame before he felt a weight next to him and arms slip around his waist.

“I know something is wrong. We always talk about honestly,Alec,”

Alec bit his lip and turned towards Magnus, so close thattheir noses were touching. “It was nothing. Just some Clave representativesaying I shouldn’t be in charge of the institute because well – because I’mgay,”

Magnus’s breathing paused, “You know that no one else thinksthat, right?”

Alec slumped his shoulders, attempting to roll onto his backbut Magnus pulled him closer. “Y-Yeah, but I don’t know. I’ve never reallyexperienced that sort of negativity.”

Magnus tutted and let his hands move to Alec’s cheeks, “Everyonethinks you’re the perfect leader, darling. The world is changing, tradition is …old.”

“I know, just came as a shock to me.” Alec then proceeded towrap his arms around his safe place, which was Magnus. He snuggled into theolder Warlock, feeling in a realm of protection whenever they were around each other.

“I love you, Alexander. And so does everyone in thatinstitute.”

“I love the institute, but I love you more,”

Magnus smirked in delight and wrapped his arms around Alec’sbody, almost like they were hugging laying down. Their heads rested on eachother’s shoulder, keeping track of one another’s breathing.

“I don’t care who your dad is, I care who you are.”
